After a completely wasted day-off sat here in front of my PC trying to get ME2 modded and running the HD textures that Bioware were too lazy to create in the first place, i have now uninstalled the complete game/all DLC for the 4th time thanks to the ridiculous DLC authorization error.

I can sometimes get Texmod to run but not always (each install either works or not at all), but the second i use ME2Explorer to hard-mod the textures into the game i run straight into the "Cannot authorize *X* DLC) and the override for that in ME2Explorer does nothing. So far i have hit both errors twice!

Seriously why in (Insert chosen deity name here) name does a 5 year old game still require online authorization for the DLC i have paid for and downloaded via Origin? There is no reason for this as a fairly simple code change by one of the devs at Bioware could easily rectify this so the game doesn't require it. I paid for the damn game and purchased all the DLC via Origin and yet the stupid game still has to connect to EA/Bioware to verify it???

The damn developers should either come up with the quality textures they could not be bothered to make themselves at launch or allow us to use a program to add them ourselves after this immense amount of time has passed since the games launch.

I have been a huge supporter of Bioware since the release of ME1 and have happily handed over my hard-earned cash for all the ME games and DLC and the Dragon Age games inc all the DLC, but from now on not a single dime will be heading their way from me ever again.

I can fully understand the requirement for a new game to require authorization to stop piracy.. but after 5 years????

I have now removed all the Bioware games from my PC and, as far as i am concerned, will not be using or recommending Bioware games to anyone i know in the gaming community.

....Rant Over.... Please enjoy the rest of your day.

BWEA (and I'm assuming here it's the EA overlords of Bioware that are the issue) don't "officially" want their game/s modded.

Perhaps it's some dribble about  "artistic integrity" or some such drechk, the creators don't want their creation bastardized. Who knows?

"Un-officially" they have not only allowed, but in some small ways encouraged, modding of their games, as these very forums can attest to. Allowing discussion of various mods, and from the quality and depth of some of the mods out there, I wouldn't be surprised to find that some of the mods were created by BW staff in disguise (just my speculation, and I could be wrong)

You also do know that their is a simple .dll "patch" you can download that stops the invalid DLC error? And BWEA has done nothing to stop this from being used, which they could easily do.

Some companies, like Bethesda for instance, openly encourage "modding" and by the Goddess/Spirits some of the mods for their games far surpass even the original content! (and <shudder> some don't) But BWEA doesn't.

Having said all that, I to would like BW to "open up" ME for modders. All the DLC should now be free for instance, and disable the authorization checks, especially seeing as they are openly working on a new game, but alas, I just don't see the most capricious, even heinous, Software Distributor in history doing that.
