After being told FTL was impossible, and faced with the reality of one-way trips to Mars and generational ships - cautiously optimistic. If space travel could really be similar to sci-fi I'd probably start caring about it again. I'm a very simple man.

 

This is pretty much where I am, too. I keep thinking about all of those SF movies that start out with "In the year XXXX," where XXXX is some year that has already come and gone without us getting even close to the level of technology depicted in the movie, and I've gotten used to the idea that the future is just not going to be as awesome as we all thought it would be.

I agree with you, Jimmy. This would be the most profound discovery in the history of humanity, and I don't believe I'm being hyperbolic when I say that. The concept of "conquering the final frontier" would be at our collective fingertips if the vacuum chamber tests confirm it. This news is elating.

Don't worry, having  a few xenophiles on board is not a bad idea. if there is a Tali in this galaxy regardless of her actual species and she wants to date you, why the heck not. If she can be of use to us, you can ask her to join. I might distrust alien governments on princple but I am not against having Alien Allies of all stripes. **** if I can have someone Like Kelly Chamber on board, you can join too. and now I need to talk to her about her love of Varren,

Not yet, and yet I do remember threads of Grunt's poopshoot and Tali's sweat taste like. I do admit that we are an army of the weird and obsured but 4chan is another level of weirdness even I rather not think about.

The links are worth checking out. These are real NASA scientists saying these things. Scanning some more of the pages, it seems the project is seriously underfunded to perform the vacuum test in question. I suppose this could be a weird ploy to try and get more funding for their project, but claiming FTL while working at NASA to do so seems... short-sighted.
