I'm going to work through all the games and create a new canon play through and I have some questions about Origins. It's been a long time since I played Origins and even longer since I beat it so there's some stuff I forgot or never knew. First, is the "coercion" skill worth taking? I always take any skill that opens up dialog choices ever since the KotOR games but I'm wondering if it's really worth spending skills point into it. Does anyone know what kind of stuff I would miss out on (quests, gear etc.) if I skip taking it? And second, is there a way to respec skills in Origins if I'm unhappy with what I've chosen like you can in Inquisition? I might have more questions in the future but right now these are the two BIG ones I have. Thanks.

RE: Character respec

If you wish to respec your party members then I suggest you seek the raven.   :D

RE: Coercion

From the Coercion page on the Wikia site:

The difficulty ratings are:

  • 25   == Low
  • 50   == Medium
  • 75   == Hard
  • 100 == Very Hard

The formulas are:

  • Persuasion = (25 * Coercion Rank) + (Cunning - 10)
  • Intimidation = (25 * Coercion Rank) + (Strength - 10)

So to have a 100% success, either have 4 X Coercion Ranks; have 110 in Cunning and 110 in Strength; or have a combination somewhere in between.

I don't fully remember all the times and all the things you can get when you use Coercion.  But the Wikia page has a list of many of the situations where Coercion will come into play.

I personally recommend taking all 4 levels in Coercion.  I am like you and I prefer to have dialog choices when I can unless I am forced to put my points elsewhere by my build.

You only need one person in your group to have any of the other skills to take advantage of them ie. Herbalism, Poison Making, Stealing, Survival, Trap Making.  But only YOUR character can use Coercion.  I believe that unless you are building a Cunning based Rogue (using Lethality) your attribute points are better spent on other attributes instead of Cunning when Coercion can be used.

Good luck and enjoy!  I have just started replaying DA:O again too.  I think it is the best out of the series.
