Out of the Mass Effect series and Dragon Age series. Who would you say your favorite LI was in each series? Choose only one from each series! 

 

Mine are:

 

Mass Effect: Kaidan

 

Dragon Age: Alistair

 

Mass Effect: Kaidan and M!Shep.  I love that moment in ME3 where they finally lay it all out, and Kaidan says something about not realizing what he had until now, and being grateful he still has him. 

 

Dragon Age: While I adore the crap out of the Dorian romance, my favorite romance so far has been the Warden and Morrigan.  She's so utterly confused when she realizes she's falling for him.

Mass Effect: Kaidan (With M. Shep)

 

Dragon Age: the new factor is still in effect for the DAI romances, so hard to say, but right now I'm leaning towards Iron Bull.  Fenris is almost tied with him.  (both with male characters)

Male Shep/Kaidan Romance: My favorite romance ever! That romance is perfect and the wait til Mass Effect 3 was worth it for me. It seemed natural for me without romance hacks. You save his life in ME1. That's your bro your buddy you can't leave him behind. You re-unite with him briefly in ME 2 and he thought you were lost for good but finds out you're with Cerberus and is appropriately suspicious of your activities considering what you've discovered about them in ME 1, you try to explain and want him back but he turns you down. Then you re-unite again in ME3 and he's back in your crew, he ends up almost fatally injured by Eva after some time healing in the hospital and getting his favorite bottle of wine he rejoins your crew. I think the build up of that loss between each other is very "romantic" for lack of a less mushy word. I like that it's not "gay" it just is. As Kaidan mentions before the final battle he says something about being brothers in arms. The whole soldiers risking their lives for one another is again "romantic". :cries:

 

Male Mage Hawke/Anders Romance (Rivalry): A close second! The tension between the two!

 

Corny dialogue but I love it...

Anders: You are everything I hate, a mage who curries favors with the Templars! I don't know whether to kill you or kiss you. But these last 3 years, I can't stop thinking about you.

 

Then there is the heartwarming kiss at the gallows and Hawke saying, "I will always love you!" :cries:

 

Again not "gay" it just is.

 

Male Quizzy/Iron Bull: I like it because it doesn't take itself too seriously. The romance is fun, it's campy, watch words and all. The scene with Cullen, Josephine and Cassandra is just WIN.

 

Aside from that it's cute with it's corny Dragon's Tooth split in two mushiness. Again the romance just is.

 

At first I tried Dorian but his scenes were just... maybe I dislike that sexuality had to be acknowledged. I also found his humor annoying. Very The Princess Bride type of humor but not as funny I feel like Dorian tries too hard.

Mass Effect: Garrus. Can't find any flaws on that romance with my Shepard.  I really love they become more than friends after the first game, and I love how much theyr flirts are usually jokes. Is intimate, and at the same time, is evident they aren't only "infatuated" of each other, they really "care" for each other.

 

Dragon Age: Solas for now, but it feel unfinished. Until we know how it end with Solas's character, I have to vote for Alistair with Warden Tabris if they stay both Wardens.

Mass effect: Garrus.

 

Dragon age: Leliana (With a female Warden. That just seems to fit a lot more.), Merril with either gender being a close second.

For my straight male hero: Miranda and Bastilla are by far the best ones Bioware has ever done.

 

Leliana wasn't bad though.

 

I've found the last two DA games have been very disappointing as far as romance goes.

Mass Effect: Garrus Vakarian. I love how the romance grows from ME2 to ME3. It's from friends to more than friends and then officially dating. I also enjoy how he expresses his feelings for FemShep without telling her "I love you" all the time. Also, the line "Forgive the insubordination, but your boyfriend has an order for you. Come back alive. It would be an awfully empty galaxy without you."

 

Dragon Age: I usually go for blond dudes in the series (which is odd, considering I don't go for them in real life), so Alistair, Anders, and Cullen.

Mass Effect: I would have to say Garrus, though I need to play through Liara's and Kaidan's romances to be sure. Former is still in progress with my second Shepard in ME3 and latter needs to have his Shepard graduate from ME1

 

Dragon Age: Much harder choice.... but maybe Alistair from DA:O - considering how many of my wardens romanced him - and Fenris from DA2. Since I have only played through Iron Bull romance in DA:I, I can't yet say which romance is favourite (though I did enjoy the one I played - it doesn't take itself too seriously).

DA:O - Zevran

DA:2 - biased due to only ever romancing one companion for all my pt's (Fenris) . I'll try out the other 3 one day, I keep telling myself.

DA:I - I can't choose. I've only experienced Iron Bull, Cullen, Solas and Blackwall romances so far so only half-done and they're all interesting for different reasons. Spoilers in some of my reasons below...

... Especially when considering DAI takes place over a guess of 3 years. This is based on Gaider's tweet reply to a fan months back "I dunno, 3 years I suppose" and time for distances travelled for main quests arc that fans have calculated from Thedas map scales which fits 3-ish years from start to end of DAI.

So at around 2 to 2-1/2 years into a relationship these things happen. (after Wicked Hearts and Into The Abyss):

 

Blackwall possibly sleeps with then leaves the Inquisitor, afterwards reveals his true identity in an interesting fashion (and didn't actually want her to find out)

Cullen decides he's ready for the relationship to no longer be chaste, and for it to be permanent (eg. can't break up with him afterwards)

Solas breaks her heart (may happen earlier, not entirely sure since it happened late in the game for me)

Iron Bull's feelings for the inquisitor appear to be getting much stronger. I haven't finished my pt with him romanced yet so likely missing even more.

 

I have yet to experience the Sera, Dorian, Cassandra and Josephine romances for DAI. Can't wait.

Mass Effect: Jack (with Citadel), Tali (without Citadel).

 

DA: Alistair with Human Noble, Morrigan.

 

I do adore Cass and Solas though, I have throw that out there.

DA:  is Morrigan but Anders is super close.

 

ME: Prob Miranda. I want to say Jack but her romance doesn't transition to well into ME3 sadly.

ME: I didn't play ME, but from what I've seen and heard, I'd probably romance Garrus.

DA: I can't pick between Alistair and Dorian. I've been trying. (Tho, honestly, my favorite LI is Loghain, but that's not canon).

For me, Kaidan Alenko wins them all, everything, forever and ever. No other Bioware romance has quite gotten to me that much. 

 

I won't bother trying to choose between my three favorite DA romance options. Too hard.

From Mass Effect: Ashley Williams. I still can't forgive BioWare that she prefers men only. Come on, they made Kaidan BI in ME3. Not fair.

And from DA: Leliana/Isabela.

But my fav fav? I really have troubles to decide, but I think Leliana wins it.

Mass Effect: Big Liara fan. She stands on her own two feet and is an equal to Shepard.

 

Dragon Age: Isamotherf*ckinbela; It was like romancing myself.

DAO - Leliana ( though I really wanted Morrigan, love her character.  Leliana came off as a little cuckoo to me at first   )   

DA2 - Merril (meh, I did not like the companions on DA2..much...)

DAI  - Josephine (not much choice here, I really wanted Leliana this time round but she wouldn't cheat, damn it.)

DA: Fenris wins hands down, closely followed by Zevran.

ME: Garrus or Samantha (which makes using Alix's voice as the IQ really interesting)

Dragon Age: I never thought I'd find anyone I liked better than Alistair but... Cullen, hands down.

I'll try keep to the rules and limit myself to two.

 

ME: Liara by an inch. If one could carry the Tali romance through all 3 games (or romance her with FemShep) she'd probably be my no. 1, but Liara's is the most developed story.

 

DA: Merrill. I really liked the DAI romance subplots, but Merill is a character I identify with and root for pretty strongly. I'd say Sera is not far behind.

Dragon Age: Alistair, hands down. Cullen is a somehwat distant second, but I think that's more due to nostaglia from Alistair - not because Cullen's romance is subpar. Nothing quite compares to that first BW LI choice
