IMO what's happening is all the crazy/interesting things are happening often outside of video games and nerd spheres generally, like in KPOP, or Disney movies like Frozen and Maleficent, or even sports and quasi-sports like Dota 2 etc.

Meanwhile many gamers seem to be clinging to the notion that you buy a console and play a steady stream of excellent games, it's ok to not play games and find interesting things to do outside of that realm every once and awhile.

That said, I happen to think FFXIV (for example) combines the best elements of the fringe min/maxing MMO aspects of gaming with the earthier story borne elements like in a Final Fantasy. I am continually blown away by the experience but I suspect because it doesn't "look" like a traditional console game final fantasy lots of people have not given it a shot. it takes to effort to find enjoyable games just like it did 20 years ago.

Games drop in price faster than they ever have, and the content we get from good AAA games is off the charts. What in the actual **** are you talking about?

The gaming apocalypse of course. The end is nigh.

If that happens, I think Edmonton is going to need to step up its riot police =P

>Implying the government here would spend money on ED-209s.

They'd just use the money to make another Stadium we don't need.

Stadiums have multifunctional purposes. You can go watch soccer, theater shows, parades, Gladiator challenges and executions there!

But we already have one is the problem.

Rexall Place.

Nothin wrong with it. Still going to be in use after the oversized one they've been building for 5 years is opened.

It's pointless and a waste of money, not like Edmontons particularly rolling in dosh to begin with.

Also, the Oilers are the worst team in the league. A shiny new stadium for them to play in isn't going to fix that fact.
