There are plenty of classes in DAIMP that are not that loot dependant, but obviously gear helps.

If you do not mind taking it nice and steady, I would wager that it is possible to extract on perilous by a group of level 16-20's using grey weapons as you describe.

Personally, I would want a system where we grind the gold and buy the items we want directly (At a cost of 100K-250K gold per item) but that would be a more pay to win system, since the chests themselves would not be needed, and instead an item mall would be the go-to approach for such a system.

My proposed system would be to categorize all the items - make common items level 5, rare items level 12, unique items level 20. Each time you got a duplicate of an item, that item would increase by one level. That way you will actually have progress by playing. I have not had progress in this game for months. It is very frustrating enjoying the gameplay, saving up a bunch of gold and then buying a lot of chests, just waiting excited to get some rewards and at the end realizing you got absolutetly nothing.

It detracts from the entire joy you had from playing the game. Rather then this current system, I would much rather prefer playing 20 hours and getting just one item that is actually of use to me. That is how bad my luck in this game has been.

You will, of course, be citing your sources for statements like that BabyLion?

I dont think you need "citations" or " facts" to logically conclude that both EA and Bioware are corporations which exist in a capitalist system focused soley on financial gain. Videogames unlike film don't generate royalty income, so unless these companies are making additional income on the back end why would they devote more time, resources and money just to make players happy? Dont get me wrong your smiles are worth $65.00 but that wears off after a couple weeks. I think what babylion is saying is that the current loot systems poor design is only discouraging players to want to support this back end income. Its a poor business decision and when the money stops flowing I can guarantee EA and Bioware will move on to new projects.

Yeah, I never stated otherwise.

DAI, and thus DAIMP has a projected lifetime, and a projected amount of DLC. Once we reach the end of the line, the game will stop getting updates.

We're not there yet though, but a 3-4 month timeline per DLC would put end of support somewhere near end of Q1 2016. (I've read somewhere we could expect five DLCs, and we're up to two now)

However, Bioware has also noted that the supported lifetime is longer than ME3, and it got a full year (Which technically would be true if support ended in Q1 2016), and with Shadowrealms being cancelled, I don't consider it unreasonable that some resources were shuffled to both the ME team, as well as the DA:I team (Apart from those that went to SWTOR).

As for the chests - to me, the system in ME3MP and DAIMP are the same, since I did not play enough to even get close to a maxed manifest with rank 1 weapons. I didn't even get all classes (Only managed to play that MP mode for about 60 hours before moving on.)

The thing about the chests in DAIMP is that it is easier to get enough gold to buy the large chest (two extracts on threatening or higher), where as in ME3MP you had to do three-four silver extractions to be able to buy the premium spectre pack. So the "Time saved" value is lower in DAIMP than it was in ME3MP, and as a consequence I believe people ain't buying chests, I know I am not at least and I spent more than 150USD in the ME3MP Store despite not playing it that much.

If Bioware were to create a chest like "Premium Spectre Pack" that would cost 250 platinum, but cost something like 5000g, then it would be a worthwhile venture to look into from a purely "time saved" perspective.

Obviously DAIMP has more going for it than mere loot, since you can become ever more powerful by doing promotions, but the idea is there.

I was not going to bother with this one anymore, but I just have to point out-

You only need to do 2 silver matches or 1 gold match to afford one premium pack and you were guranteed progression. In DAIMP I can earn 2 000 000 gold and still get no progression (which is sorta the case for me currently). I think the reason  you are so okay with this loot system is simply because you have been lucky, or rather - just not unlucky.

How would you feel after 100 hours played and still your best weapon would only be highland dirk? Because that is a possibility with the current system. I get the feeling you played Mass Effect 3 MP at the end of its cycle. It had a lot of content. They did add arsenal and reinforcement packs to help increase your chance of getting specific items. DAIMP did character unlocks pretty well, but the rest is not in any way near the awesome system ME3MP had. And what was also great with ME3MP was that once you had fully unlocked something, you couldn't get any more of it which increased your chance of getting the other items you want. In DAIMP, I've gotten my hundreth highland dirk and it's honestly doing me nothing (along with a lot of other items).

I had unlocked everything in ME3MP (except a select few Ultra Rares) by the amount of time I have spent in DAIMP and in DAIMP I have hardly gotten anything (except 9 longbow of the griffon).

Edit: Just to be clear - I loved ME3MP loot system XD

My circle of friends and I played ME3 MP at different stages. Often we would play 20-30 hours together before drifting off to other games, only to return when new DLC hit. (Our Schedules are hard to align at times :))

I'm sure you could look up my ME3MP profile to see how it looks if you were interested. I was a "whale" in that game though, since I was likely to spend the price of the game (I license a collectors edition) every time a new DLC hit, since my group of friends and I did not have the guns to extract on Gold that often, so we stuck with Silver.

The amount of credits earned compared with the price of a Premium spectre pack (the 90K credit one) was the heavy influence on my spending there. I would do a quick calculation on how much time I've saved grinding by buying a pack.

In DAIMP, it's fast and easy enough to earn the gold needed to buy a large chest, so I don't buy as much plat as I've done in ME3MP, despite having played DAIMP alot more. I personally think this is the biggest problem of the store in DAIMP, not the percieved lack of upgrading weapons we've found, in order to avoid dublicates on the long term scale.

Also, DAIMP encourages spending time with the game, due to the promotion system. Loot is a secondary thing compared to time spent. (Loot obviously helps though from an effiency perspective.)
