I am returning after 3 year, and to be honest i didn't play much of this even back then.
Now everybody has their OP gear, and i am just sitting here, trying to contribute as best i can while shamelessly leeching gold.
Can somebody point me to a not weapon dependent build that can reasonably contribute at gold difficulty?

Thanks,
Silver

Biotics absolutely rip it up on gold, but it's not always easy to find a pug of biotics. I have a particular affinity for the two asari adepts.

Any of the original Human classes. The Sentinel, Adept & Engineer are my preferences.

Human Adept or Engineer are the best bets.

With the Adept, 6/6/6 on the powers, for maximum biotic explosion goodness.  With the engineer 6/6 on Incinerate/Overload, for endless fire/tech explosions.

If you post a link to your profile on N7HQ, we could see your manifest and likely give somewhat better advice.

As a rule though, Recruit packs until you've maxed out your uncommons, veteran packs until you've maxed out your uncommons and Spectre packs until you've maxed out your rare weapons.

Forget the Kroguard. Human classes are better.

Instead of leeching on Gold, why not try to stick with Silver that you could enjoy for the challenge? You don't even have your Avanger maxed out, man.

Geth Trooper soldier, spec for Flamer and put the Arc Pistol with the Power Magnifier mod on it.

Human Adept, Sentinel and Engineer, ditto.

Quarian Infiltrator with Widow.

Talon Merc with the GPS.

Turian Soldier with Piranha.

Lots of possibilities, really.

I'd recommend buying Veteran packs for now, with some Recruit packs if you need consumables. Perhaps play a few games on Silver first, I don't think you'd do all that well on Gold. Once you've got the common and uncommon stuff maxed, go up to Gold and buy Spectre packs, with JEPs to refill your consumables.

And the point of not having a crappy waepon maxxed out?

Meaning I know you want to play Gold for the tasty credits, so you can land a fine Harrier or whatever you might like, but the way to go is to spam Recruit Packs till you get your shitty stuff maxed out, so you can compliment your Gold team better and not be a leech.

The point is not that the Avenger is a great weapon, because it's not but that someone who has not yet played the game enough to max out the Avenger you will not have the sufficient manifest or skills to play effectively.  It's an indication of time spent and knowledge acquired, rather than useful in and of itself.

You need to max it out so you won't get crappy upgrades from the more expensive packs. Same for your consumables (medi gel, ops packs, missiles, thermal packs).

OP are you PS3? If so, I will glady carry you to victory on any difficulty with your avenger, as long as you play a quarian.

I think it is perfectly fine to skip the common weapons entirely.Because i have such stuff as the Javelin,Anti-Synth rifle and claymore,i am perfectly fine skipping this kid of stuff.

As DaemionMoadrin pointed out, maxing out your common weapons first makes best sense, because otherwise you will be getting common and uncommon weapons in your Spectre packs otherwise.

Furthermore, without the right equipment and kits, as well as experience playing the game, the Javelin, Adas and Claymore will not be very useful.  The Javelin, for example, shines mostly strongly on the GI, and when used with Phasic Rounds III or Drill Rounds III.  The Adas, when a higher level, is great as a mook killer, but pretty lacklustre against armour without incendiary rounds, and the cooldown can hamper some caster classes (Human Engineer).

Incidentally, OP, if you want, add me on Origin (username in sig).  I'd be happy to ease you back into the game and get you some credits.

I'd buy vet packs until you at least max out your uncommon weapon mods. You're gonna want those maxed, especially the piercing mods..

You're on PC, so if you want you can just give yourself a pile of credits.
