I'm in the midst of replaying as a mage Inquisitor with my first playthrough as warrior and I see some differences in terms of dialogs options and responses. It also differs in terms of the specialization that Inquisitor could take, which is pretty refreshing.

Few thoughts came in with regards to ideas that I would share here, which I believe I will regret if I didn't, ideas that I believe make DA:I the game it should have been and possibly be applied to future DA series.

The War Table

There's lack of interactiveness with the current War Table. What if Bioware implement troop movement, which include Cullen soldiers and Leliana scout from Inquisition side, Orleis and Ferelden troops as well as the enemies such as Corypheus darkspawn/red templars troops? I believe this will open up a lot more dynamic missions that Inquisitor could participate in, for example jumping to save Inquisition soldiers protecting one of the explored established camps in say Storm Coast.

Do away with Fetch quests

Fetch quests such as deliver flower, crematic bodies, etc shouldn't be the work of Inquisitor. It's still fine to have those quests around, but make it so that the Inquisitor could assign errand boy/girl to do the job after which the Inquisitor will get a pop up message that says that the job is done, in which, rewards will then be awarded. Make use of those happily standing Inquisition soldiers in each of the liberated villages!

Investigative mission is an idea I have in mind that would better suit the Inquisitor. It could be as simple as finding a ring from a dead farmer, which opens up sequences of missions that can be undertaken as side quests or could be part of the main plots. Errand boy that was sent to do mundane fetch quests could also give chain missions for the Inquisitor to follow up.

Changes to schematics and introduce replica system

Remember that Inquisitor is not the one that make those armors and weapons, instead he/she lets Gerett the blacksmith to do all the job in Skyhold. He should be able to make all standard weapon and armor up to Tier 2(he's seasoned blacksmith), in which, Masterwork is introduced for Tier 3 obtained either from rare schematics or have Gerett replicate rare Tier 3 weapon/armor the Inquisitor found.

Day and Night cycle and weather cycle

I honestly feel that Dragon Age world could use day and night cycle and weather system. It will make the world more alive and certainly open up more missions and skirmishes. Venturing Creswood in the night will certainly feel more refreshing but one must be cautious with the different dangers that might be lurking in the night. Also, there's a valid reason to own a luxurious Orleis bed the Inquisitor has in Skyhold...

Skyhold skirmishes

With day and night cycle implemented, Bioware could implement assassination skirmishes on the Inquisitor. I would reckon there are numerous opposition to the Inquisition that can't wait to see the Inquisitor dead. It's already stated in the game that the Inquisitor has many enemies right?

Skyhold activities

There should be more activities that the Inquisitor can do within Skyhold. We hear lady Montilyet speak of guests that have come to visit the Inquisitor in Skyhold but the actual lunch/dinner meet up never happened. So why don't make this happen? I think it's good way to build reputation this way.

Also, holding Skyhold feast would also be good idea to implement to boost morale. This would also make players feel that they are really playing as the leader of the Inquisition.

So those are few ideas I'm sharing with you guys. I don't think Bioware could implement even one of them for DA:I but I can always hope. Thus, would be appreciated if they can be put into consideration. I really don't want Bioware to repeat the blunder in DA:I :(

Nice suggestions, but for me:

  • War Table - the only additional interaction I would value, would be more ability to talk to the advisors about the various missions.
  • Fetch Quests - I actually like the fetch quests. They help expose me to parts of the map I would likely not go to, open up other quests, and help me build my reputation as a true hero!
  • Schematics - no issues here for me other than I would prefer to have the option to buy.
  • Weather and Time Cycles - as someone who has vision problems - daytime is best. Really personally hate the dark and rainy settings - too hard on my eyes.
  • Skyhold - should be a sanctuary IOMO - so I don't care for the idea of assasins and skirmishes....and I have absolutely no interest in activities like meet and greets and feasts. Ttoally hate the Orlesian ball quest for example, and I dread conversations with Josie....

It is interesting to me that the stuff some would love to see in a game - would be a turn off to others.

For me my issues with the game are mostly about aesthetics - body postures, hairstyles, greater variety in armor and weaponry.

I added my suggested idea to sort of replace the fetch quest, which I forgot to add, my apologies for that :D Thanks for the comments duckley

For the war table to involve so much time in the game, there should have been far more dialog and options for even delegation to other members.   The Galaxy map in the Mass effect series always had some NPC leading you to topics, fundamentally it is the same tool.

Schematics: More use of Dagna to upgrade things -An interesting character with history, sort of introduced and forgotten.  Wasn't it her purpose to take the mundane and improve upon it?  There are several topics on schematics.

Fetch quests should have an option to delegate them to the various groups available and every measure to connect them to the story and if that can't be done drop them.  Similarly if you delegate quests you loose team members for a time.  There are several topics, even the psychology of fetch quests.

Day and night simply seems largely ill conceived in many areas and weather far behind the norm except for the effects of water which are superior.  This had to be a programmatic scheduling issue.

Skirmishes and rebuilding issues for skyhold have their own topics.

The many plot inconsistencies also have their own topics -many professional writers have commented on this topic and I still see it as a programmatic scheduling issue -Bioware has good writers.  That is the source of confusion!

Running with the Fetch Quest suggestions - have the option to do it yourself or delegate and the game keeps track of which one you do the most or who you delegated to (Do it yourself = more relatable to the 'common people', but consequences with the nobility or the inquisitors 'image' / Delegate = more respectable with the nobility, seen as a lot less approachable/more intimidating depending on who you got to do the quest).

It'd be nice to be able to talk to the companions around Skyhold after the 'end' of the game (finishing off conversations for codexes etc) and/or get some more reaction to war table events or quests (mention of things that happened in the gated quests, 'sorry about your clan', 'sorry about your friends/family dying', 'I'm glad/unhappy such and such did such and such).

There could be some version of the other inquisitors quests showing up (the dalish one could be carried over to anyone else, but they would only have letters coming from from the nobles and reports from the scouts on the dalish perspective / the qunari inquisitors mercenary group could be sending complaints about not getting paid/offering their services but less personal messages)

Also would be nice to do more things in Skyhold and possibly finish the repairs to the keep.

Utilizing Dogna's enchanting skill more is indeed a good idea to improve the overall weapon&armor crafting.

I'm not sure if I'm following you on your day and night comment? But I should add that the day and night cycle and weather are some of the features that I would hope Bioware add in the next Dragon Age installment as I don't think it's possible to be added to DA:I :)

I like this idea that you have put up, it certainly brings more dynamic approach on how quests are handled and completed

Good ideas... but forget about any substantial changes to DA:I. That train has left the station somewhere in November. We can only expect some bugfixes and some meaningless DLC.

Focus on the next games, at least there exists a minuscule chance that BioWare will read your ideas. Doubt they will act on it, but you take what you get, right?
