Hello guys,

I am here with quite unusual problem. I suffer from quite major arachnophobia, which makes me stop playing nearly every time i have to encounter these beasts. I wonder if anything or anybody could help me get rid of it, but i have another question.

Could somebody point me out locations where are spiders most concentrated so i could avoid them?

Thanks in advance

Solas suggests feeding them beforehand and they'll leave you alone for the most part...

Ah sadly, in some missions you'll have to encounter spiders.

Well, you're kinda f*cked here. There is a main story quest which involves spiders.

The dlc (don't have a fear but the dlc damn near gave me one) and the Storm Coast caves, oh and also a cave on the Forbidden Oasis come into mind. At first thought. Well actually the fade could be bad also, from the main story.

In the DLC they're all over and I sort of freaked at first but

Spoiler

There are some areas full of spiders, yet there were only a few where this trick didn't work.

Target a spider in the distance (you can see their outlines and red dots). Use the command that sends all of your companions to attack your target. Repeat.

This works even better if you're a mage or rogue with threat reduction or stealth.

You picks DAI to play and you're afraid of spiders? What that heck are you going to do when you meet "blinky"?

The Hissing Wastes are full of them.  Unless you want the tier 3 armours there's no reason to go there, though.

One of the caves (close to the astrarium cave) at Crestwood also has spiders and let's not forget the famous Snowball under the Crestwood keep. But pass up Snowball and you'll be passing up one great grenade.

You'll usually find giant spiders in caves and underground ruins. Steer clear if you want to avoid those, although there are some mandatory "main story" quests where you HAVE to deal with them. I suggest steeling yourself for that.

Crestwood has two secret spiders in one cave, but I won't tell.

I skipped Snowball after having been tipped off. I did the war table mission to unlock the paths under the keep in Crestwood, then never went down there.

I hit level cap without it, killed all dragons, and finished the game, so you can skip Snowball's healing grenade and still do just fine.

omg Snowball, I still have nightmares of my first meeting that thing. All I heard was Cole saying something about lots of legs, I turned to run and my stupid companions blocked my path and would NOT move. I never swore at them so much...stupid *censored* companions.

... it might be difficult to avoid spiders in this game.

No, and there likely never will be with the difficulty we are having just doing basic cosmetic stuff. This game is not modding friendly in the least bit.

Thanks to you all guys, never exppected so many answers in such short time. Actually, what scares me most is spider which is nearly the same size as human is, i dont really have fear of HUGE (as one on the picture above) or really tiny. WEll, this comes for bugs and such sort of things as well. But well, im trying to fight it, i managed to play Pillars of Eternity which is literally full of such stuff. I guess it has something to do with graphics, cos when i was young, i started with games liek Baldurs Gate, where it was more about your fantasy that graphics. Im huge RPG fan, i played nearly everything major in genre, but this always pissed me off. Btw, its the reason why i never played Skyrim (and i know about bear mod).

One question: Why do you think that spiders are so favourite among RPGs devs?

They're a very common fear, so they're always a pretty safe bet for a developer.
I can't stand spiders. I spent a lot of DA:I jumping, cursing, and twitching in fear in my seat
I recommend that you don't get the DLC, that you avoid the caves in the ravine area in Crestwood (they came almost out of nowhere), the area under the Crestwood keep; the area just beyond the Gracevine camp in the Emerald Graves, caves in any desert area, and that during Here Lies The Abyss you keep a stiff drink handy.

...Spiders are beautiful...in their way.

Dangerous occasionally and skittish.

Shy sums them up aptly.

I simply can't understand the fear of them, never have.
