And how does that ability change anything if the time it takes me to read/process said 5000 novels or any other type of data is many orders of magnitude larger than the time it takes for either system to send them, and thus the limiting factor in terms of efficiency?

 

Maybe you shouldn't be a selfish wanker then and share all those novels with other people near you.

Or maybe you could do a text search across all of them, looking for a specific quote to impress people on an internet forum.

 

"Frivolous entertainment" aside, I use the internet to work from home at times. I use it as a storage medium that I can access from nearly anywhere. I use it to work on projects with people from all over the world. I use it to look for news that interest me and then use it again to verify what I just read.

All these are things not possible with previous technologies.

I just think that as long as you're not a burden on the team, it doesn't matter what class you're using or what weapons. And if you're inexperienced, you should be playing Bronze or Silver. But on Gold - as long as you can use the kit you are, what does it matter? It's THEIR class. I just don't understand why people seem to concern themselves with what other people do, when they are part of YOUR team. You should be trying to HELP them, not mock them. And regardless, this is NOT Call of Duty, and NO ONE should get hate for making mistakes, whether it be in their class design or during the game itself. And just because you do not approve of it doesn't mean that it isn't good, or they can't use it effectively. If you don't like the way someone's class works etc. - you should either play by yourself or join a different lobby. But you have no right to complain about it and mock people.

The internet improves the efficiency and convience of your ability to do those things, but I disagree that they wouldn't be possible. People had home offices before the internet via phones and fax, but really its irrelevant as none of the core professions that enable human society to function can be done at home, and thus a majority of humans can't participate in them by default. You could get news through television, newspaper and radio, the internet has just increased accessibility of multiple sources. Most people in the world don't live in liberal democracies where their opinion on such things actually has any impact, and of those who do most of their impacts in affecting political change are more influenced by ballot design and the relative physical attractiveness of those people who are chosen and responsible for making the rules, rather than a well informed and objective ideology, so this is also not that relevant either way. But I suppose that is what you are arguing for in favour of the internet the first place.
