I like it a lot on Gold on the GE. On Plat, it's a little harder to take down some heavy armor but still doable.

Perfectly Plat viable. Friend of mine used it a lot on the geth engi, both gold and plat.

This is what I did with mine...

E-Bay the reserve for it is 1 penny..so far no taker's...I heard it is effective on Bronze....seriously, GE or GI full weapon specs make this gun viable on Gold, Platinum.....no..takes forever to kill anything

He top scored with it more often than not, playing with decent/good players (including myself).
No speed and vision?
Why would you need speed? You are shooting the enemy from RHA.

Don't geth me wrong, it is not a top tier weapon but it has a very good synergy with the geth engi. Engi has overload vs shileds, GPR is a high ROF weapon with incendiary thus it is good vs armour, on top of that geth engi gets weapon bonuses from several sources: passives, hunter mode, using geth weapon on geth and the fact that you don't need geth scanner so you can use AR AMP.

It's possibly not the worst gun in the game.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is the 2nd best rare or lower AR when it comes to outright killing mooks by itself. That 3x headshot multiplier is no joke if you can take advantage of it. This is how I use it.

It does 310 damage per headshot under the effect of marksman. As a point of reference, a Harrier will do around 240 damage on a bodyshot with the same setup. The difference is that you are spitting those rounds out at 1200 RPM or a whopping 20 rounds per second under marksman with this spec. Combined with the rifle already being quite accurate, and marksman making it into essentially a laser pointer, you can get very good damage and TTK against mooks on it, and the 180 round magazine gives you a lot of uptime ( roguhly 9 seconds between reloads, basically meshes almost perfectly with MM cooldown). Now I'm not for a second comparing it to the Harrier, just pointing out that a very good shooter with a GPR can get within the ballpark of an average shooter with a Harrier against humanoid enemies. It isn't hopeless. Think of the other Rare and Uncommon assault rifles that you should be comparing it with. Argus? Collector rifle? Vindicator? Revenant? The GPR comes out pretty even or better against those, and I even like it more than the Phaeston.
I often run an AR amp in the consumable slot though, you only lose 10 points of damage per shot but get 30% additional damage against the rifle's weakness, which is bosses that only have 1.4x headshot multipliers. Against Geth or Gerberus on gold or lower with their abundance of humanoids the rifle is quite good, and even Collectors if you can avoid the crabs and go for the oversized noggins on those troopers, captains and Abombs.
okay that last bit sounded bad.

Yes, it's definitely not a "bad" gun by any stretch; it definitely outshines all the "bad" guns like the Vindicator (aka "Get the hell out of my game if you're using that crap on Gold/Plat, that gun is terrible even on bronze) but gets neglected due to the "very good" guns like the harrier.
Other factors to consider that have not been mentioned:
Weight: Tied with the Avenger for the lightest assault rifle, effectively making it a good "Avenger Upgrade" for a power based class that wants to keep a high power recharge speed while still having an accurate long range weapon for applying ammo/ getting headshots. Compare to, say, everyone's beloved Claymore, which, while a great gun, is heavy to the point that I cringe when I see power specialist classes wielding one.
Ammo: It can keep going for quite some time. You don't need nearly as many trips to the ammo crates as many others.

I only use it on Geth because of the racial bonus,,,otherwise sits on the shelf.
