So, at the Well of Sorrows, you ask your companions their opinion of who should drink.
Cassandra is clear in her dialogue that she feels Morrigan should drink, rather than the inquisitor.

But, afterwards she disapproves of the decision to let Morrigan drink!
How stupid is that? Can the approval mechanism not at least be consistent?

It might not be a glitch, as this happens with more than one companion.

Which would make it inconsistent programming, I guess. You'd think 1. Cassandra being the Seeker and all, very religious, very Chantry oriented, that she would NOT approve of an inquisitor deciding to drink from the Well of Sorrows, and 2. being the (potential) LI of the PC, would not want him to risk his life, and so SHOULD want Morrigan being the one to drink from the Well.

 

Simply strange, or perhaps random approval programming. Either way, weird

Cassandra doesn't approve of Morrigan drinking, because she thinks Morrigan is too unpredictable to get such a power. She might argue that the risk is lower for the Inquisitor, but in the end, it's about power in the "wrong" hands. Vivienne explains it rather nicely when you get back to Skyhold.

Essentially you are in a no win situation and that is what their reaction recognises.   If you don't drink then you have to totally trust that Morrigan will use the Well in the right way both now and in the future.   If you do drink you have no idea what the implications are with regard to the whole bound to Mythal thing and what simply drinking it may do to you, which is tricky considering you possess the anchor and so are the only one who can close breaches in the Veil.

 

Solas is even worse; he won't drink himself, clearly doesn't want Morrigan to drink, but does think someone should.   By default that would appear to be you.   But Solas doesn't like it if you do and even rants at you about it back at Skyhold because apparently he told you not to (the writer claims they forgot to put in that bit of dialogue actually at the Well!).

 

Just accept the disapprovals and not worry about them.

If you ask Cassandra and than let Morrigan drink,she disapproves.

Just don't ask her.
