DA could use a Dante
Come to think of it, I'd say we had one in Fenris, but he's far more brooding...
Okay, I'll headcanon it that pre-tattoo and as Leto, he was Dante-esque and never stopped making jokes.

I would like a Female Qunari who escaped the Qun and Chasind/Avaar of either gender.
Abelas would make a damn interesting companion, but sadly he can die. ![]()
Do you have a particular preference when it comes to their motives, regarding whether or not they want to possess the PC?
It depends on what their reason is for wanting to possess the PC. If it's simply survival or part of some cunning plan, then I'd be on board with the idea. The one thing I definitely wouldn't is them wanting to possess the PC just because they're a demon. Or because 'lol chaos' or something (which seemed to be Envy's final plan). I'd want something understandable but still... demon-y. ![]()
Yeah, characters like Imshael and Morinth are pretty fascinating (and in Imshael's case, also entertaining!), which is why I'd love to have one around long-term, especially if it makes everything more complicated! Like winning a demon's loyalty/co-operation wouldn't be just a matter of befriending them, it would be completely new ground for a PC.

Pfffft Fenris is nowhere near this badass

All I want is Leliana as a romance option for my freakin inquisitor Bioware if she was not romanced by the Warden, I don't know why in the heck they did not do this to begin with, its pretty much a no brainer for fans of her especially after her remodel........sigh Bioware, get with the program. The ME2 Squad treatment in ME3, the ME3 ending, now Leliana as no romance option in DAI.......come on!!!!!

Elf who wants to improve clans, by modernising them, resource-wise, without ignoring old culture. No self-hate/elf-hate/bad relationship with their clans. No elf whining.
Proud blood mage.
Blackguard.
Tamassran.
Traditionally dwarfy dwarf.
- Desire Demon
purple and wearing something frothy, with tassels
- Rivaini Warrior
fun
- A Dog
cute
Honestly I'd love more companions that drop lore bombs - particularly about the Anderfels and Rivain since we know next to nothing about those nations. Currently we've gotten bits and pieces from codex entries, companion convos, and war table operations about those nations. I'd love to see a companion like Bull or Dorian in the sense that they're dropping lore bombs left and right.
I would have been glad for Krem and Ser Michel to make the list. But given the circumstances, it is unlikely.
Would have loved a Chasind companion and an Ander.
I imagine the main character would be some sort of favored slave to a Tevinter Magister (even mages can be slaves) who is freed by a "good magister" who sets off the plot to...I don't know...something something Tevinter Nevarra Anderfels something Qunari Antiva Rivain blah something. Give them a unisex, plausible-to-all-races nickname bestowed by their best-friend-fellow-slave-who-obviously-dies-in-the-prologue so we can skirt around them not having a title. A rags to riches story ala Dragon Age II, only this time don't make the hero a guaranteed failure (sorry Hawke, I love you, but...)
I have too many love interests described here but this is a "wish list" thread so...
Warriors
Male Tevinter Templar: I find it fascinating to explore this concept. Sword and shield fighter. Have him be a loyalist to one of the "good magisters" like Maevaris Tilani or possibly someone in Dorian's family. Probably the first party member in the game. Romanceable by females only. I picture him as a youthful looking handsome black man. (Required party member) At some point late in the game you must choose whether he or the "Reaver" survives ala Virmire in ME1.
Female Anderfels "Reaver": A non-Warden perspective on the Anderfels. Comes from a peasant background, uneducated, maybe even illiterate. Have her warrior powers have something to do with a form of blood magic. Fights with axes and one-handed swords. Simultaneously warm with friends and hot-blooded in battle. Romanceable by males only. Make her a long-haired blonde with blue eyes, very shieldmaiden-like. (Required party member) At some point late in the game you must choose whether she or the Templar survives ala Virmire in ME1.
Male Orlesian Chevalier: The token "not a total jerkass" Chevalier. The horse-riding bit is a bit tricky as I'd hope there would be less "wide open world" Skyrim stuff in DA4 but maybe integrate it in a few quests. Chivalric, but not to an eye-rolling extent. I'm sure Bioware could find a Canadian voice-actor who can make a French accent not ridiculous-sounding, even make it Quebec French if it has to be. This will be the longed-for gay Knight in Shining Armor there is an enormous thread about (and thus obviously romanceable by males only). Sandy-haired ponytail and closely-trimmed beard, because reasons.
Female Antivan Surface-Dwarf Gladiator: Not a slave, but willing risks her life in organized combat entertainment in Tevinter for money and fame, but gets into a sticky situation and joins the PCs party because reasons. Fights with a lot of strange weaponry, chains, whips, shurikens, enchanted brass knuckles, the weirder the better. Party banter with the other warriors has them point out her impractical weaponry. Bronzed skin, short pixie-cut black hair, curvy. Bisexual romance option because obviously everyone in Antiva can't be bisexual but everyone would be expecting it so the writers would do it.
Rogues
Male Rivaini Qunari Archer: Not quite Qun and not quite Tal Vashoth, as befits the strange situation in Rivain. A powerful archer with a longbow (which contrary to the "skinny archer" archetype requires quite a bit of upper body strength) that is actually somewhat similar to a warrior in some abilities. A cold sniper kind of personality, both practical and snarky but not really "secretly philosophical" like a lot of Qunari so far. Married to the Female Rivaini Seer (If he is recruited she is recruited, and if she leaves then he leaves). Metallic skin tone like a lot of Qunari, but more copper-colored.
Female Seheron City Elf Fog Warrior: We really need to see what's up with them. It's been mentioned there are "fog dancers" who recite the "legends of old" so maybe give her a bardic feel. A lot of alchemical based tempest-like abilities. Very determined personality, with a strong moral code. Does not get along with Tevinter or Qunari (even if Tal-Vashoth) party members, to the point where bringing any of those companions on her loyalty quest causes you to fail it, and you have to work extra hard to get her loyalty if you are Tal-Vashoth yourself (like getting Fenris's friendship as a mage Hawke). I envision her with dark hair and green eyes, and even a slightly Asian appearance. Romanceable by males and females.
Male Tevinter Surface Dwarf Alchemist: Another loyalist of the "good magister." An absent minded professor type, who tends to speak in mystical technobabble that, if worked out, will confirm or deny fan theories about lyrium, the Fade, etc. Does not do ranged combat well (nearsighted and needs primitive bi-focals) and prefers to stick to poison coated daggers. Can also function as a merchant for magic-related materials in the "party safehouse" but is a bit costlier because he doesn't really have merchant connections, but also carries some unique materials. Romanceable by female non-Qunari only. (Required party member)
Female Ostwick Thief/Swashbuckler: A duelist type of rogue reminiscent of Isabela's style, she is actually not a real pirate at all (most of her background is false and in an obvious way) but really an agent of Leliana, working more for the Inquisition's goals with some Chantry related stuff depending on whether or not Leliana is the Divine. However, she does have some sailing experience and if still alive towards the end of the game plans to join the expedition Josephine Montilyet (and other Free Marches and Antivan interests) is funding to explore the Amaranthine Sea...(which may or may not have to be abandoned by the renewed Qunari invasion of Thedas). I picture her as a curly-haired freckled ginger type. Romanceable by females only, and to prevent Blackwall-gate or Solas-gate 2.0 if you flirt with her a couple times she reveals her deception much earlier than she would in other playthroughs, and before the romance is "locked in."
Mages
Male Nevarran City Elf Mortalitasi: Time to get some real perspective on what these people are about. Don't make him morbid, but give him an extroverted but superior attitude, mixed with moments of genuine doubt and vulnerability. Can be a real dick in party banter. Give him that quasi-Germanic accent Cassandra has for consistency's sake. Pale, of course, with jet black hair (maybe like a weird man-bun) and a minor tattoo that gets mistaken for vallaslin by ignorant foreigners. Romanceable by males and females, a romance that starts out pretty cold and chaste but grows over time.
Female Rivaini Seer: Another popular "time for a new perspective" character. Her party banter could be a lot like Cole's, with all these interesting insights into everyone's character and background, and maybe future. Will openly admit that her prophecies could be wrong and are often conveniently vague, have her predict a big event in the story and some minor events that may or may not happen based on player choices, have her be satisfied if right and apologetic if wrong. Has a somber personality, and is very introspective about a lot of Thedas's lore and potentially discusses fan-theories. Married to the Qunari Archer (if she is recruited than he is recruited, and if he leaves than she leaves). I picture her as a black woman with long dreads or braids and otherworldly, silvery-white eyes.
Female Saarebas: The one companion I'm fairly confident we're actually going to get. My version would have been captured by a Tevinter slaver, passed around as parlor trick by Magisters, and finally escaped violently. Has been through a lot and it shows in her personality. She still has the scars from abuse and from where the mask was stitched to her face for years. Her magic is highly offense tailored, fireballs and crowd-control and all that. Some of her spells even require her to be in melee to work properly, glowing fists and the like. She is romanceable by non-Dwarven males only, and because she has been through a lot the romance must be handled very sensitively, but can become quite touching (think Jack's romance from ME2 and the Citadel DLC).
Male Tevinter Blood Mage: A blood mage from Tevinter, but one who happens to be a Lay Brother of the Imperial Chantry and whose blood magic tends to be used for healing, buffering, and party protection. In his first scene he will literally cut himself to heal a sick patient. Very devout, he genuinely believes in the harmony of magic and faith, and is even controversial in Tevinter for saying things like "Andraste smiles upon slave and magister alike." His blood magic makes most of the party uncomfortable, even as they are healed by it. In personality he's actually a little awkward, the "adorkable" romance in the vein of Alistair and Cullen. I see him as having unkempt auburn hair, facial scruff, and a bunch of dagger scars on his limbs. Romanceable by males and females.
So here's a character I've been rolling about in my head for a possible fanfic, thought I'd share;
Male Elf Hedge Mage: Blinded in an "accident" by abusive parents and left to die in the woods, he was taken in by a kindly forester who raised him as his own child and taught him the ways of the forest. Upon approaching his teenage years, his magic began to manifest in unusual manner, leading him to discover that he had a certain degree of control over nearby animals and was capable of seeing through their eyes, allowing him to regain his own lost sight. Along with his faithful Mabari warhound, who serves as his (quite literal) seeing-eye dog, he provides the magical equivalent to Origins "Ranger" spec, summoning wild animals to aid the party and using his own limited magical talents to buff allies and aid with crowd-control.
That was exactly what I was imagine. Exactly. ![]()
Spooky. ![]()
Well, I don't think we've had a really sweet male romance option since Alistair, and that was my favorite.
Cullen has a sweet romance arc, but I think his character is darker than Alistair's. Dorian is actually really nice too, and I like his friendship story, but I'm thinking of a romance option for a female protagonist. I don't really have enough time for several play throughs and I prefer to play female.
Anyway, aside from another sweet male LI, I'd like to see more companions like Cole. More friendly spirits?
I'd also really like to have a dog again, that we can summon like in DA2.
I want my Warden as companion. And Alistair to go with her ofcourse. But I don't think that's possible? Something to wish for though!!! And maybe someone from the Anderfels or a Chasind warrior? Oh and I would like to see Nathaniel return. And Shale ofcourse.
Actually why not have a reunion party with all previous companions?!
Pfffft Fenris is nowhere near this badass
But on the flip side, Fenris can't fit his own head in the palm of his hand.
I would want Tallis back from DA2's Mark of the Assassin as a companion...... so long as I get the choice, right and ability to gut her with the murderknife moments after I meet her.
Aside from that I'd like to see a sane, ordinary, down-to-earth human mundane male sword/shield warrior and potential LI. Maybe ex-military mercenary or something.
I'd also like to see a human female apostate who escaped the Circle soon after her harrowing and has spent the last few years of freedom studying all kinds of magic that few others have. With talents far beyond the circle. Somewhat of a fighter-scholar-adventurer.
And personally I'd like to see another city elf companion who has lived in an alienage most of his or her life. Likely a non-archer rogue used to living by his/her wits and occasionally not on the right side of the law.
I think it'd be interesting.

I'd romance the crap out of Donnic.
