I'm afraid we must disagree for once, sideburns are cool... but not when they turn into muttonchops.

I have only one wish for companion.

Old Gods sectarian Tevinter mage. A bit of trickstery, a bit of desperation, a lot of devotion. Knows about blood magic, but thinks that it made Tevinter weak, so he searches for another power source.

I can imagine meeting him on Deep Roads where he tries to trick Grey Wardens and Magisterium into finding sleeping Old God.

Also Dragonling. Who needs mabari when you can have dragon pet? Too much of stretch though.

Have you played Awakening? It's pretty close to your wishes where one particular character is concerned. Just don't expect him to be a playable.

Assuming DA4 takes place in Tevinter:

Elf Female Tevinter Slave (Rogue) - An elf who willingly became a slave.  We already had views from an unwilling slave and a slave-owner, leaving a person who became a slave willingly.

Human Female Rivaini Seer (Mage) - A Rivaini Seer who was visiting/learning in Tevinter when the Annulment at Dairsmuid occurred.  Possessed by a Spirit of Hope, giving some insight into the Fade and Rivain's ideas of magic and spirits.

Dwarf Male Kal-Sharok Soldier (Warrior) - A Kal-Sharok Dwarf to give insight into Kal-Sharok culture and events.

Dwarf Female Orzammar/Tevinter Ambassador (Rogue) - An Orzammar Dwarf member of the Ambassadoria that discusses dwarf/Tevinter and Orzammar/Kal-Sharok relations.

Human Male Fog Warrior (Rogue) - A Seheron citizen that provides info on the current state of Seheron.

Qunari Female Vashoth (Mage) - A Qunari that was raised in isolation from the Qun and is ignorant of the world, especially different views on magic and Qunari-Tevinter relations.

Qunari Male Tal-Vashoth (Warrior) - Already had someone who was staunchly for the Qun and someone who struggled with the Qun, leaving someone staunchly against the Qun.

Elf Male Tevinter Laetan (Mage) - A character to show the equality afforded to elves in Tevinter when they have magic.

Human Male Tevinter Templar (Warrior) - A character to show the politics of Templars and the Circles in Tevinter.

There are a lot of ideas for a female Tal-Vashoth mage here and I'm definitely with y'all. Especially if she was once Saarebas and fled the Qun for whatever reason (didn't agree with the treatment of mages, didn't agree with it as a whole, some other reason I can't think of). It would be great to see some non-PC female Qunari. I think I'd prefer her to be generally unhappy and cold, but maybe as you got more approval with her she starts showing a dry sense of humour? Bonus points if she's romanceable, extra bonus points if she's exclusively into the ladies.

I'd also love a Dalish companion who isn't a mage. Not really picky on gender but I love elven culture and I'd love to see someone who is immensely proud of their people and their culture and has no problem letting people know it. Hell, maybe they can even be extremely distrustful of humans, simply because that's something we haven't really seen in an elf companion so far (other than Velanna, but that wasn't main game and doesn't quite count.)

Would also love to see a Rivaini Seer. They just seem so interesting, and I loved seeing the difference in the Avaar views on magic and spirits so having a Rivaini Seer as a companion would be amazing. I think it would be interesting if she played a Wynne-type role as an older companion and the motherly/grandmotherly voice of reason. But, I also wouldn't be adverse to a younger Seer (possibly romanceable, hopefully by both genders).

A vicious female warrior would be excellent. Most of our female warriors so far have been on the more stoic, no-nonsense side, and while I love that, I'd also love to see a Reaver-type female warrior who adores battle and violence and chaos and has a very...rambunctious personality. No real preference for race, but I think a dwarf would be really interesting in this role. Plus I would love a romanceable female dwarf.

Another blood mage would be extremely interesting, and for some reason I want him to be male. Whether he's like Merrill and uses blood magic for specific goals, or he's just using it because it's powerful and useful, I'd love to see the complications that could arise with having a blood mage for a companion. Maybe a human mage from Tevinter, or a mage from another race who just doesn't care about what everyone thinks and says about blood magic. Bonus points if he's snarky as hell and doesn't care what anyone thinks about him.

Having a tranquil companion could be really interesting. The tranquil have always really interested me, especially exactly what happens to them after they're "cured". I imagine this tranquil would have been made tranquil against their will, and at some point during their personal quest you would have to make the choice between leaving them tranquil despite them never wanting it beforehand, or trying to cure them despite there possibly being some extremely serious ramifications to this, including it not working at all. It would be an interesting moral decision, one that might not have a clearly defined right answer (love me some morally ambiguous choices).

(Also I'm expecting there to be an angsty pretty blond white boy available to romance, following the trend of Alistair-Anders-Cullen. And don't take this to mean I'm against it. I adore those pretty boys.)

Honestly I'd just like less humans in general, or at least less Chantry-subscribing humans. I love to see the diversity of different races and different religions. In the first three games it made sense to have a lot of Chantry believers, but if we are going north in the next game I feel like they could really give us a lot of diversity in terms of race/religion.

Dwarves! More Dwarves!

The Dwarva do not get enough love from the devs as the elves and humans do. Dwarves are the only playable race thus far to not get a love interest option of their own race.

I think Sandal (or at least someone who can explain Sandal's "not enchantment") would be an interesting companion. Or perhaps a Dwarf from the mysterious Kal-Sharok.

I don't know the lore of Dragon Age as I should , so exuse me if I use previous games and old games as exemple  :P

The Wizard : I want someone like Edwin Odesseiron . A Red Wizard of Thay and Lawful Evil . I know the wizard of Thay or Alignement don't exist in Dragon Age . But I want someone just as fun as Edwin was as well as just evil as he was . He was priceless , you just love to hate him .

The Elf: I want someone like Sand . from NWN2 . I loved the guy , many hated him but I admired his deligence and willingless to admit his short coming in the art of Magic compared to those who were Gifted .

The Psycho companion: I want someone Like Quara . Again from NWN2 . She was so overpowerful , and all that attitude . I miss the old 'Here is my evil alignement take it or leave it . we don't have to be friend and yes I hate you'

The Paladin/Warrior: I want someone like Mazzy Fentan (voiced by Jennifer Hale) from BG2 SOA . she was the best goddamn warrior and Paladin there was . You just wanna kick the Paladin order for not allowing Halfling since she was worth alot more then any human they had for her bravery and moral compass.

As for Dragon age it self , I really don't care where the next game happen . I just hope they don't stick us with 'Play as human only' . I want more specie , and more background and difference in the world when interacting . As well as I want less religious Titles , but more drama !!

Hey, you could let her torch the warehouse district. That was fun. :P

But I wish there was more about her, too. All we really know is that her dad was headmaster of the wizard academy, she had no self-control, and she loooved setting people on fire.

- Mabari inhabited by a Spirit of Honor, that learns to enjoy being a dog.

- Character eternally wearing heavy metal armor. You cannot see their face. They are the biggest bro of all time, and unintentionally lead the player on a wild goose chase romance that ends with them realizing you've been hitting on them the whole time...and then they just say 'Oh, no thanks'. Achievement Unlocked: 'Friendzoned'.

- SCOUT HARDING.

I would love to see more characters with unique weapons and abilities, like what DA:2 did (esp. with Varric and Bianca, with a unique ability tree to go): for example:

- A Tal-Vashoth rouge/warroir who uses a spear and specializes in melee/range

- A Tavinter rouge/mage who uses a magical boomerang-like weapon and weilds illusion magic to sabotage his foes (like charm, fear, etc.)

- An Antivan Fencer who uses a one handed sword and no sheild, leaving the other hand free for grabs, punches and other melee moves; quick and agile, basically a sword weilding rouge

- An Avvar wrestler; a warrior who pummels his enemies with devastating melee moves, throws, slams, kicks; can be equiped with special gloves and gauntlets for more power, kind of like the crystals for that Golem in DA:1 (can't remember her name)- can climb on dragons too...

- An orlesian Chevalie who weilds a Halberd and a shield; a combination of the sword/sheild and the two handed abilities in DA:I

- A Chasind Shaman will do for a mage, with special focus on nature controlling spells like being able to get wild animals to fight for you, summoning silvians, summoning insect hives, summoning a murder of crows- that kind of stuff... and can also be a shapeshifter

- A Nevarran sword- staff weilding Arcane warrior would be very welcome as well

That being said, one of my major beefs with DA:I is the lack of variaty when it comes to classes and abilities, DA:2 took a step in the right direction in those regards so here's hoping the next installment will explore all the crazy posibilities...

- Mabari inhabited by a Spirit of Honor, that learns to enjoy being a dog.

Inquisitor: If you're a Dog possessed by a Spirit, shouldn't you be able to talk?

Mabari: *Bark*

Inquisitor: Wait... are you... are you messing with me?

Mabari: *Happy bark*

Perhaps that's because the character doesn't have a face... they actually are a suit of armour? Or rather, a Spirit that got bound inside of a suit of armour, similar to the Sentinels in the Circle Tower and the suits of armour in Redcliffe castle in Origins, or the Gallows statues in DA2?

- SCOUT HARDING.

I wrote a good deal about these two character ideas a few times on the forums here.

Inquisitor: If you're a Dog possessed by a Spirit, shouldn't you be able to talk?

Mabari: *Bark*

Inquisitor: Wait... are you... are you messing with me?

Mabari: *Happy bark*

Inquisitor: Who's a good boy, who's a good boy!? *scratching mabari behind the ears*
Honor: *Honor Slightly Approves* <Barks Happily!> (Spirit voice talks, comes from nowhere): Stop that at once, I am bound to the body of a proud canine warrior, not some lap dog to be flaunted at fancy dinner parties! <Tail starts wagging>

Inquisitor: Aw, he thinks he can speak!
Honor: I am the very soul of the battlefield now made physical! I am what the warrior craves mo- <Mabari starts sniffing the air> what's that smell?

Inquisitor: That would be the Larder. . .They're making bacon, I believe.
Honor: Hm. . .perhaps we should investigate then? <Mabari is drooling.>
Inquisitor: Are- are you begging for a treat?
Honor: *Honor Slightly Disapproves* Begging is a dishonorable act!
Inquisitor: Your words say 'no-no', but your eyes say 'Woof-woof'!

Never thought of that, the character started as a joke about how disappointed we were with the Iron Bull (we made the character a human ecause, prior to playing DA:I I left myself unspoiled and somehow ended up thinking Iron Bull was a human in plate armor.). We thought he'd be this total bro: loud and obnoxious but always has your back and trying to get you to loosen up and have fun. We took to calling him The 'real' Iron Bull.

Unlike every other character out there, he has no problems that need solving: His Loyalty Quest would just be hanging out with his pal the Inquisitor. Bar fights would ensue but the two of them would be mopping the floor and taking names. . .and being 'jarate'-poor drunk and knocking things and each other over but still! Name taking!

. . .I'll have to find the other posts I have about the two.

Yeah, Iron Bull definitely needed more bro moments... it was kinda disappointing most of the stuff we talk to him about tends to be about the Qunari?

What bugged me is that he has all these romantic conquests with various women that we hear about, but it's always offscreen? Would have been fun to actually play wingman in the pub at least once or twice, like Hawke does to Aveline in DA2? Or hang out there with him and the Chargers during some down time? In DA2 Hawke and their companions often would have conversations in the Hanged Man, making it feel like they'd often hang out there at the end of the day?

Would have been fun to tag along with Bull and the Chargers on their missions as well? Like scouring an abandoned Redcliffe castle for clues about the Venatori if you went to the Templars, or fighting the Envy Demon at Therinfal, who ends up impersonating everyone, if you went with the Mages?

Few ideas:

- A human Tevinter who is not a mage

- A dwarf who isn't from Orzammar or a surfacer, so Kal-Sharok dwarf (but I would perfer being exposed to Kal-Sharok by actually going there)

It's kind of hard for me to come up with an idea for a mage companion.

We already had the White Chantry Circle mages (Wynne, Vivienne), a mage from a Tevinter Circle (Dorian), different kind of apostates (Morrigan, Anders, Solas), Dalish mages (Velanna, Merrill).

So maybe a Ketojan? Or if not a Qunari, a mage from Tevinter who serves in the Imperial Army as an elite high ranking artificer. Someone whose primary duty is the drowning of Qunari dreadnoughts :D so not exactly a scholarly type.
