Smackdown is being moved from SyFY to the USA Network to be on the same channel as Monday Night Raw.
So neither of those happened;more like the bigwigs in charge of USA/SyFy and the WWE decided to stick both of WWE's top two shows on one network.

SyFy is "sci fi" in the same way that MTV is Music Television.
Not quite that bad. They still have stuff like Continuum and 12 Monkeys. Plus those new shows coming up. And isn't there a Childhood's End mini coming up?

If I still cared about wrestling to any significant degree outside of playing the video games this would be interesting news. So Smackdown is moving to USA now?

Aye. Same timeslot as its place on SyFy, I believe. They just want to have both Raw and Smackdown on USA.
As for wrestling, I stopped watching it consistently a long time ago, watched it sparingly till sometime last year/the year before that(I can't remember) and now just follow it online(without viewing) and talk about it on forums.
Grew up a big professional wrestling fan and I guess this means I still am, but no way am I watching the *expletive* WWE puts on. Better shows in other promotions like NJPW.

Basically. Now its all about advertising, appealing to stockholders/shareholders, and trying to force the audience to like what they want them to like instead of making the fan favorites look good.
