SYFY has also dumped Helix. I enjoyed the show, like Defiance I thought it found it's place in season two. It was pretty awesome having it back to back with Twelve Monkey's. Can't say I'm surprised SYFY decided to back out, the show was starting to go weird places for that channel with all the incest & child murder & creepifying stuff.

Wrestling has incest and child murder in it?

WWE is so bad these days its ridiculous. Like Max Landis said, when wrestling's bad it is TERRIBLE, but when wrestling's good it is *EXPLETIVE* GREAT.

Sad thing is, for a LOOOONG time now, 99% of what WWE does is trash. They're trying to be a variety show and less of a professional wrestling promotion and it SUCKS. They can't understand they'll always be niche.

Indeed. When I flip through the channels and see all the people in the stadiums and understand that millions of people are simultaneously watching at home, I often wonder how it's even possible when the program itself is so poorly constructed and the roster of wrestlers are so boring to watch. I was a big fan of pro wrestling in the 90's and while I understand that I probably grew out of it when I became a teenager and eventually an adult, I still feel that the product itself has suffered greatly with the demise of WCW, which as you know, was the only true rival and competitor for McMahon.

That said, I can go back and watch older matches from the 80's and 90's that are far more entertaining than anything that's presented today in WWE. I find the matches and cast of characters far more colorful and entertaining to watch. Even the commentators back then seemed far more into it and seemed to be genuinely enjoying the show as much as the audience. I have sat and watched a match or two of modern WWE on occasion and the commentators seemed bored out of their skulls. Jerry Lawler in particular seems very apathetic since the departure of Jim Ross.

Commentary these days is *expletive* because they are explicitly told to ignore the action that goes on in the ring so they can joke around and tell stories. They are given direction directly by Vince McMahon which leads to terrible play-by-play.

There are still some fantastic matches these days. Back in the day the wrestling matches were mostly terrible but you forgave it because the characters and story around them were PRIME, now the storytelling is garbage so its hard to get invested into the matches even though the talent of the performers is much higher.

There was going to be an incest angle between Vince McMahon and his daughter Stephanie but it was deemed WAY too out there so they cancelled it before it was ever depicted. It was Vince's idea.

And there was once a storyline where Lita was pregnant with Kane's child but Gene Snitsky inadvertently knocked Lita down leading to a miscarriage of the child.

So actually, far as WWE goes, YEAH. :o

The WWE's development system NXT is by far the best wrestling promotion out there right now. It's embarrassing how bad NXT makes WWE look.

Can we please just forget the Katie Vick storyline ever happened

Yet another case of Vince McMahon's [sarcasm] "brilliance" [/sarcasm]

Not to worry, I'm sure you can find men wrestling in spandex elsewhere.

That's pretty much how I feel. I don't like the new talent and everyone on pay roll seems just as bored as me when watching it.

Well in June season 3 of Defiance starts but I suspect it will be the final season. I have given up on the game it just blows.

TV doesn't need another reality show! What it needs is an epic space opera!

The prevailing opinion is that quite a few talents are only in it for the money and don't have the drive and passion that those of old did.

There's a lot less money in the business for the wrestlers. Not nearly enough to justify working 300+ dates a year with added apperances while taking bumps and working through injuries.

A lot of these newer guys started working really young and have over a decade of experience before hitting 30. They're live and love the business, and have the drive to succeed and help each other to do so. Whereas in the attitude era it was more dog eat dog. It's also the reason why the current talent is leagues better than before.

The problem with the WWE is Vince and Creative. The house shows and NXT are better than what you watch on tv. The further from Vince's hands, the better the product is. Wrestlemania XXX was the best since Wrestlemania X-7 and was all Triple H and Stephanie. NXT is all Triple H's project and is the best product that the WWE is putting out. That roster is stacked with the best of the Indies and are given a lot of freedom to go out and put the best matches they can. it's sad when someone is called onto the main roster. The product will get better when Vince is not involved.
