DA:I is my first Dragon Age game (for PS4).  I know there were at least two previous games.  Just curious if these earlier games will be re-mastered for PS4 or do I have to bring my PS3 out of retirement to play them?

Also, what exactly should I look for?  The Collector's editions of these earlier games?  Any follow-up DLC's to the earlier games that I should acquire as well?

My apologies if this is not the right section for this question.  I wanted to post it to the News section, but apparently only moderators can start topics there.

I sincerely doubt they will be bringing the old games to the next gen. There is an ultimate edition of the first game, but not of the second game.

The first game is brilliant and I highly recommend it. Just don't expect it to be much like Inquisition

Both games are quite a bit different than DAI. To be honest, DAI set out to correct a lot of complaints about DA2.

If you get DAO, I would get The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and Witch Hunt. Maybe the Awakening expansion if you're flush with cash.

If you get DA2, I would definitely spring for Legacy and maybe Mark of the Assassin. Most seem to dislike The Exiled Prince.

The Black Emporium is helpful if you're one of those people who are never happy with how their character looks, because you get a mirror you can use to alter their appearance. Also, a dog.

The main reason people seem to dislike "The Exiled Prince" is that the (male) Companion NPC it adds isn't romanceable.

If that isn't an issue for you, then I think the additional banter alone makes it worthwhile!

Um, Sebastian is romancable. My 'canon' Hawke romanced him!

Thanks for the replies!  I've been looking online for Dragon Age:  Origins and see that there's a "Collector's Edition" and an "Ultimate Edition."  Anyone know which one is better?

Playing DAO on console is bad idea. Moders on pc fixet the game its extremely bugged and underdeveloped.

I would go with the Ultimate Edition.

The Ultimate Edition has 9 DLC's and the Awakening expansion.

The Collector  Edition has a bonus DVD and 3 exclusive in game items (but only one DLC and NO Awakening expansion.

The Ultimate Edition is the way to go.

For DA2, Legacy and Mark of the Assasin are really excellent. They have very interesting and challenging fights

The Exiled Prince is a waste of money imo. Black Emporium is nice because of Dog and Maker's Sigh that allows you to redistribute all attributes and spell/talent points.

Most people got that one included in the signature edition.

If could, you'd better play DA:O (mainly) and DA2 on PC. Mods improve the games a lot, it's a whole new experience.

Ultimate edition for DA:O, yep.

And as for DA2, I agree that Legacy and Mark of the Assassin were just great. Legacy is the most... ah, important? of the DLCs for DA2, I think, so it's pretty much a must, especially if you liked DA:I. I also have Exiled Prince, and while Sebastian isn't my favorite, I didn't really regret the purchase. Having another companion to pick from was nice. Take that as you will, I guess? XD Is Black Emporium still free? If so, also recommended.

I hope you enjoy these two installments! They're both quite different from DA:I and one another, really, but they both have their strong points, I think. :) Definitely worth a visit!

I've played both games on the Xbox 360, PS3 & PC and while the PC gave me the best experience, mainly due to mods like Skip the Fade for DA:O or level scaling companion weapons for DA2, both games run really well on the Xbox.

Maybe the PC version was bugged but the console versions were fine.

Agree on the ultimate edition of DAO, but if you can't find it just grab the Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, Witch Hunt, and Stone Prisoner dlcs.  Awakenings is very much take or leave, in my opinion.  Definitely, definitely get DA2 and the Legacy and Mark of the Assassin dlcs.  Black Imporium's handy but not necessary and Exiled Prince is...okay but also not necessary.

And both games play just fine and dandy on PS3.  There's absolutely no need to get a pc version if you don't want one! ;)

Black Emporium is, of course, free. Not having to pay for it probably played a role in several people's decisions to go ahead and get it. At least, it did in mine.

Ahhh... Platonic Love.  Such a noble idea.

My  Hawke, on the other hand, thinks that a perpetually unconsummatable romance isn't worthy of being called one.

You can't consummate the relationship during DA2. But I doubt Prince Sebastian will stay celibate forever, considering the rather precarious state of Starkhaven's throne.

I've actually been thinking, though the budget would probably be crazy, about remaking DA:O and DA:II with DA:I's ruleset and graphics engine. Of course you'd probably need to rejigger dialogue for DA:O for a voiced Warden.

also certain tweaks to DA:I's rule set, such as reintroducing that you can set your own Attributes where you want.

I'd also probably introduce a Qunari origin in DA:O of some sort.

Archers are bugged in the console version and some missions are unobtainable. I have it on console and PC and the PC version is miles better.
