I understand that Mass Effect 1 and 2 are both based off the third Unreal Engine, which is quite unforgiving when it comes to widescreen gaming, but I was hoping that there would be a fix for the forced 4:3 aspect ratio in these games by now. I have a triple monitor setup which I highly enjoy, capable of 5670x1080, that I pieced together strictly for gaming. It's a shame that these games do not function properly across the three monitors, even though the configuration utility detects it as a valid resolution.

This is how it looks in game.

Obviously, playing the game could prove quite problematic with little or no HUD. I really don't expect much of an immediate resolve at this particular point in time, mostly because of the fact that Unreal Engine 3 isn't BioWare's engine, and that this issue has been persistent for years. What I am hoping for, however, is insight on how to access the console in Mass Effect 2 and adjust the field of view to accommodate for the large display size, or perhaps a patch sometime down the road so the screen isn't cropped along the vertical axis.

Detecting resolution =/= coding for aspect ratio

Less than 0.5% of the market uses a 21:4 ratio like you are (probably MUCH less), and each ratio requires coding to display the 2D portions of the interface without distortion. My suggestion is to wait for WSGF to come up with a workaround.

On a forum filled to the brim with people unable to get the game to RUN, I doubt this issue is anywhere near a priority.

Having the UI and HUD scale properly to the resolution isn't the issue. The issue is that Unreal Engine 3 forces a 4:3 aspect ratio regardless of your resolution, resulting in the upper and lower segments of your screen to be cropped off when you go to a widescreen format.
