When the game download and installed, I launched the client... After logging into my Bioware account in the client, it says it needs the serial number. When I enter it, the client says it's already in use.

I opened the Config Utility, and my Serial Number is listed under Game>Product Key... so I presume the client accepted it.

I came here to the My Games>Register Games option and registered ME2 with the serial... and it accepted it.

I read the readme and it mentioned ports to open... They are open (Windows, and router).  Disabled both temporarily when that didn't help.

I came here to find out what was going on, and no one seems to be having this same problem (as far as I can tell, not gonna read another couple hundred threads).  Found something about Cerberus registration... followed the instructions and the redeem form accepted my Cerebus code.  I have some DLC, that I don't give a lick about.

What I can't do is launch the game because the client says it can't activate ME2 on my account - which the site says it has registered.

Any tips beyond be patient.  I'm being patient, just don't understand how all this makes someone who purchased the game interested in doing so with the next one.

I have the identical problem, except it asked for EA account (which perhaps is identical to my bioware account) and then said my serial was already in use. I downloaded mine from impulse. And yes, my redeem code worked and everything.

I have the same problem. Registered Cd-key on website before the activation. Found a possible solution http://help.dragonag...?&p_faqid=23661

submit a support ticket following those guidelines and hopefully EA will resolve this quickly

Thank you for the tip.  I love that it states:

While this is being addressed and should not be a problem for new
customers moving forward
, if you've experienced this issue you will
need to contact us with your game information to correct it.

... and it's from a game I purchased months ago.

Again thank you, hopefully they'll be able to provide us all with what we've already paid for and been denied access to with their archaic, non-functional and completely ineffective attempt at stopping piracy.

Fixed my problem. Support resetted my EA account (validate the EA account) then upper tier tech support instructed me to log off and log into the default administrator then ran Mass Effect 2. Validated the product key without any problems. Switched back to my main user and now it works.

What did you do to get in touch with support?... 18 hours and no response to ticket except an automated one... the phone call was a $12 catastrophe.

Much longer. And Stardock refuses to refund unplayable EA games even though their company's Gamer's Bill of Right states that all gamers should be able to receive a refund for games purchased that are unplayable.

They even took the Bill of Right's down from their site. :(

@kinghomie3: Stardock is a retailer for digital software. Sorta like Steam.

@Corbaer: Its shameful that Stardock, rather than standing behind their Gamer's bill of rights, they take it down and pretend it was never there. If I could, I would happily tell stardock they can have Mass Effect back in exchange for my money.

Frankly, I'm furious with both Stardock and EA/Bioware as neither of them has yet managed to respond to a single inquiry from me (in the form of tickets, live chat attempts, phone calls, and emails) for nearly 48 hrs. Live chat has been canceled on the EA side after a 30-60 min wait each time (4 attempts today). Now, I can't even locate the live chat support on the EA Support site. Looks to me like they've taken it down or moved it.

i hear you man my email has been there for about 30 something hours and i am completely expecting it to take much longer to get a response. I've done a couple chats but same as you, after 30 minutes it just ends with no response. i don't get why its so hard for them to resolve this when they had the same problem with DA origins

Cerebus always timed out for me until I had an EA customer service rep from live chat go into my account and make it "active" as it's status. DLC came online after that.

Guys, you have to use the support chat. It looks like its the only way to get connection to CN. I have been pushed out of the chat after waiting for 30 min a few times. But after a few tries I was in and the guy connected my CN to my account.

Now I can connect to CN.

hey try to get live chat at a time where not too many people are going on. i did mine on sunday morning and the que was only 90. thats when i get a response. if the que is over 130 i suggest dropping it there and trying another time when it would be lower. i know it sounds crazy but maybe try it in the middle of the night or something.

Another 3 attempts at live chat today with a queue of 88-92 people. After 30 minutes, I get dropped again. >.< Tomorrow is day 7 with no support from Bioware, EA, or my download provider, Stardock/Impulse. Should it really be this hard to give me a functional CD Key? FFS.
