She may have sent something "else" than Mythal, who knows?

Doubt it, Solas showed he's a good guy who made a mistake. If you look at his behaviour during the game he hates it when you don't help people or mages.

BW couldn't have left the ending more open. Anything can happen at this point.
I wouldn't necessarily place Solas in the 'good' area of the D&D alignment scale. As the Dread Wolf he has been toeing the line between good and evil for ages already. If anything, he is chaotic neutral, though he would probably scoff at such simplistic concepts and would refuse the idea of 'alignment' altogether.

I thought she was sending the Old God Soul from Morrigan's child, Kieran, through the Eluvian because she stripped him of it in my playthrough at the very least.

I'm quite dense, so really didn't actually get that part at all.
Did he absorb Flemeth's soul, which is why his eyes glowed and she collapsed > so, is she now gone for good, and he will take over? (voice actor issues most likely)
Or did she send her own essence through, as she sensed he was 'coming for her', like she did in DA:O if you chose to kill her > that little piece she sent with Hawke?
Or what exactly happened?

Ofc he showed he is a good guy, because good guys lie to you and kill their friends to further his ambitions, yep thats a good guy right there.

What happens next:
A brand new, empty area the size of Australia with a million more shards to collect, wooden NPCs and a story line about nothing in particular.
Sign me up!
Just a question. In the Jaws of Hakkon DLC there are shards as well. Do those open something, or do anything at all?

I don't think there is any indication in the finale that Solas is a bad guy. He didn't know what Corypheus would try to take over the world using it.

Yes, there are.....more....shards....
But to be perfectly honest, i got so bored with it, I did not even bother collecting all of them and I never found out what exactly it is supposed to open. Or I don't actually remember LOL
Yawn....

Yet he conveniently failed to share absolutely crucial knowledge with his 'friends' (e.g., Haven might still be standing if he had revealed the nature of the anchor), he even lied to them whenever it suited his hidden agenda. While I agree that Solas is not necessarily a bad guy, he definitely is not a good guy either. He strikes me as positively amoral.
As I said, BW left the door wide open for the sequel; he could end up as the next big bad or as a saviour or even as a non-entity similar to the 'maker'.

In my opinion, Solas is a man with good intentions but whose execution of his plans leave a lot to be desired.
I hope that even if it will be the future protagonist that will be the one to handle the consequences of or Solas himself, the Inquisitor will have their chance to confront him in a DLC. It would also help set the tone of their relationship with him in the Keep if it need to be referenced in the next installment.

Yep, you'll be able to use them in the Frostback Basin for something nice

She was sending the essence of her god-hood to Morrigan.

I tend to agree with you, although as I see this it might be leading to yet another Exalted March and an elven uprising. He hints that "the people need me", after all. As for Flemeth sending only the Old God soul, I doubt it, cause at the end she was dead as a door nail, so obviously, they merged kinda thing. Furthermore, it was something he wanted, if we're to believe what Flemeth said that a soul can't be imposed on the unwilling.
So my best guess is, we're looking at a war against the Dalish in the next game.

What if Flemeth was just touching the Eluvian, without sending anything through it?

The glowing soul orb that is passing through her hand says otherwise. Its a similar orb to the one you see her pulling from Kieran in the earlier sequence. PS: Spoiler alert on the video.
