I knew it was gonna happen tbh. That's why I didn't continue to keep complaining about it on sites that Valve probably doesn't even go on.

Gaben and his pals are still a bunch of cvnts tho. Lets hope that Origin continues to get better and that GOG and other digital delivery services continue to get better and better. Because I for one, am sick of Steam's sh!t and all the misguided "Gaben" crap. He's a douche and Valve don't make games anymore, they just sell other peoples games, lol. So.... Yeah. No love for Valve from me, the Half Life 2 day's are long gone and thus is my respect and adoration for Valve.

Well, when I finally upgrade to PC at least I won't have to worry about paying for DLC.
Why play Halo when you can mod the ever living **** out of fallout and play as a Spartan destroying several unlucky velocif**kingraptors with Commander Shepard's team backing me and my own personal army of Clone commandos? Or perhaps get someone to mod Saints row IV and allow me to play as my favorite busty angeloid and just wreck ****.
After the xbone, a PC shall be my focus!

I don't know but if it's free it's getting downloaded to my flashdrive so when I do get a gaming PC and Skyrim I'll have that mod already.

Back before Steam Greenlight and all the early access crap, Steam was actually pretty good. But that was years ago, I'd say over the last 2-3 years Steam has gotten really weak. They got an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. So.... yeah, proof is in the pudding as they say.

Yes Steam:
-The Digital Platform that doesn't have refunds
-The Platform with the worst customer service in existence
-The platform with the offline mode that either kicks you back online or crashes the client
-The platform that made it so that customers no longer actually own there games but merely subscribe to them
- the platform that introduced us all to Microtransactions in PC games (Team Fortress 2 had this long before the game went free-to-pay)
Im sure we are all grateful for these.

-the platform that in recent years has become so bloated as to make browsing for anything good feel like a waste of time. can't do that through steam anymore, now we have to go through recommended game and reviews.
Steam could make it a lot more obvious which games require an online connection and which ones don't have that dependency.
Also the amazing sales become less amazing each year
Also, they crack down really hard on cross region traders. I'm in a great position to know this, because those of us who live in australia often depend on crossing the borders to get a good price.
So that's a good 9 or so grievances with steam. considering they have a user base of more than 100 million and take 30% of each sale you'd think they could make steam a lot better.
Read the EULA http://store.steampo...eula/eula_39190
big list of reasons to dislike Steam right there.
The TL;DR of the EULA is this: if you agree to use steam we own your soul.

-Has developed a "monopoly" on boatloads of games to make them require steam
At this point, I'm worried about putting more eggs into this one basket. That's not how any gaming platform should make me feel.

Way ahead of you. I've got lots of games in GOG, Origin, Green man and other alternatives. Steam has my majority though.

When Shadow of Mordor, Skyrim and modern Paradox games can be bought on GOG, call me.
Here I am hating how useless my Skyrim box was. At least I got a cool map.

If any of them require steam to launch there are ways around that dependency, but I don't think I can talk about it here.

Yep. All "Third party DRM: Steam". The fact that I'd need to "work around it" isn't a good sign. :\

-Almost never has technical issues of any kind
-Has excellent sales (I was recently able to get both Injustice: GAU and MK9 for a total of $10)
-Offers easy access to a wide variety of games, including old ones for which discs are no longer made (such as Freedom Force, my favorite game of all time)
-Allows you to easily communicate with friends and groups via a simple interface

"this game requires a 'free' steam account to play"
I'm not sure that the word free applies to a data driven company which won't allow for people not in agreement with the EULA. They gather lots of data, and I think steam can find someone who will pay them money for most of what data they gather. No matter if you give them money voluntarily they will get something of value.

Are we talking about the same Steam here? Because the one I know:
-Almost never has technical issues of any kind
-Has excellent sales (I was recently able to get both Injustice: GAU and MK9 for a total of $10)
-Offers easy access to a wide variety of games, including old ones for which discs are no longer made (such as Freedom Force, my favorite game of all time)

see if you can follow this logic: steam supports geographical restrictions on trade. These restrictions came about hundreds of years ago by virtue of the fact that not all nations are equally wealthy and connected to the world in general. Australians could write a book about how they pay a premium for almost everything, and that includes sale discounts too. You know what Fox, our one TV network calls a "special deal"? $50 a month for pay t.v. It's normally $70 or higher. Some software we pay thousands for, and can by bought cheaper by literally hopping on a plane to america and back again.
Steams volume of games, and the friends list are quite good, and I haven't argued against those points.
I used to have lots of connectivity issues with steam. I don't know why, but it's been a lot smoother since a long time ago.

the volume of games is a huge problem, if youre not looking for anything specific to buy you have to wade trough piles of crap to find something worth it
