Just found a game that is literally Age of Empires 2 but Star Wars. Thanks GOG! :)

I have about 40-50 games in my GOG catalogue, but I guess this gives me an excuse to load up. Didn't realise how much GOG have expanded their libraries. It's still not enough to be a genuine alternative yet, but it's pretty good.

edit: I'm Aussie and the way Steam prices their products does suck. The Shadow of Mordor had a "66%" sale recently, but it still would've cost me ~$40 to purchase.

Okay, that's a fair point. I'm American, so I don't have that issue, but I see how it could be off-putting to those affected by the restrictions.

the volume of games is a huge problem, if youre not looking for anything specific to buy you have to wade trough piles of crap to find something worth it

Isn't that true for anything with lots of stuff? Amazon, Spotify, iTunes ... what's the difference?

Heh. Right. I'll only find the stuff I want in the shops with the big selection, but if someone's got Top 40 tastes I suppose he can get by with less.

I'd blame that more on the Australian dollar being terrible than on Steam.

lol I'd rather Steam and GoG over a PS4 or Xbone. Have fun spending roughly 4k for 200 games and 200 DLCs. As I said in the original dramatic thread; all companies have pros and cons. Just gotta know what cons you can live with and what pros you can't live without. All I really care about is getting games without selling both my arms and legs, and ofc playing them. All the other crap? Don't really care. Just let me be a gamer and play games pls.

But alas I am a hybrid master race and not a blind PC elitist, so don't get me wrong. Steam is just my main place for gaming and I find it odd about how much people can complain about it. I do wanna PS4 so I can play Bloodborne, but I'm not gonna spend 400 dollars for a console just for one game. I'll wait until they release other console only games before acquiring it.

Most consoles that I'd rather play on are some of the glorious old ones.

I like Steam because none of you had experienced the suffering of waiting on the line for hours just to download a Half Life or Counter Strike patch on fileplanet.

That's what we had to do before Steam came along.

Give your money to your wife so that your house will be filled with hand bags, finger nail polish, and hundreds of weird "fashionable" clothing. :P

We may indeed have won... but at what cost? Sorry. The casualties section cracks me up.

Honestly if we are to be mad at anyone its Bethesda. If they think they can take a cut off a mod that fixes the bugs that they themselves wouldn't fix, they deserve nothing.

If you're trying to rustle my jimmies, you have failed.

If you're attempting to have an actual discussion, then you have also failed.

Tbh, I'd rather wait a bit for a game to go from 59.99 to 5 dollars. But that's just me.

Anyway, new games also go on sale too. Last year even TW3 for pre-order was on sale. And having old games for sale is good for people who see it and think, "Hey I always did want that game but never had the moneiz for it."

For me the sales Steam has don't balance out the issues that are apparent in Steams other business tactics, lack of customer support, efforts to monetize everything, poor quality assurance that has flooded Steam with poor quality and copycat games, Early Access which allows developers to make people pay to alpha and beta test games (before this was free or developers actually paid gamers to do this).
