No... what is preferrable it is made freely available.... as in "we ran out of time to complete it before launch date"
Well. sure, we all want free things, but that doesn't like something a company would do.

In this game, from a PC PoV, it creates enormous good will. If it's new content, by all means make it a paid DLC.
However, I'd like to mention that the PC version has awkward game controls and no auto-attack and no auto-lock on enemy (as in DA:O and DA2) which makes the melee char difficult to play.... I think it is because I just swing at empty air. So, from my perspective, it is an unfinished game and here they are working on a DLC.... sigh
Yes, I play as a mage and archer.... two out of three is not bad I suppose.
Bioware is a business, not a charity. And considering that the cost of making games has gone up, while the price of games has remained stagnant, I can't blame them for searching for other sources of revenue.
Cut content covers many things. It could have been cut in the conceptual stages, or it could have been cut for time. Or, as was the case with the Keep capturing mechanic in the pre-alpha footage, it could have been cut because of hardware limitations,

I have no difficulty accepting content being cut... it's part of the game's development process be it for reasons of hardware or game flow.
(to Fidite Nemini) I consider DA:I as adding plenty to the lore what with its revelation about the seekers, the elven pantheon and ancient history, bits of Tevinter and its culture and so forth.
Sure enough it added some stuff. But not much. It's not like DAO, where people were thrust into a new world, with its own history, mythology, etc. pp.!
Besides, BioWare also has an interest in selling its lore encyclopedias (World of Thedas), so I'm quite sure that there's contractual limitations/NDAs about what or in what depth the writers could talk about the new lore on the forum for free when the company is at the same time creating a product with the same stuff they want to charge money for. There seem to be practical problems besides "don't wanna", "not enough to talk about" and "don't like the place".
I agree that I would love to see more developer interaction and I definately know that they have their hands full with work, either with new DLC or already working on new projects. I also abhor the argument about this community being toxic or whatever, it's not. Aside from a few real nutjobs (which isn't a thing exclusive to the BioWare fan community, every fandom has their crackpots), I found this community to be one of the friendliest I ever encountered, especially given how large it is. That absolute majority of active users on this forum are helpful people that unless needlessly provoked try to communicate in a structured, constructive manner.
Anyone saying this community is toxic should take a look at some other communities. I'm most certain they'd either have to reassess their definition, or invent a new superlative for toxic to keep their terminology intact. This place is positively tame.

I can understand the frustration with playing as a melee character. With a duel wielding rogue, I ended up using abilities that jumped me to the enemy a lot. With a warrior....well let's just say that the warrior's abilities weren't my favorite
(though whether that's a comment on Bioware's design, or just my lack of skill in that area, entirely up to you). Nevertheless, I suppose I view it more as bad luck, rather than unfinished. To draw a comparison; as far as quantity goes, there's enough hairstyles to be able to say "Yes, the game offers variety, and is therefore finished in that aspect" though many of us would argue that there exist issues nonetheless. I would hope that any DLC presented might offer us more specializations with abilities better suited for some of DAI's clunkier combat (similar to how DAO:A gave us extra specializations)
As for good will....well that's certainly true. But I can see why they might hold onto unfinished designs for future implementation, whether in this game or the next. Something about 'not showing your whole hand' perhaps? I still wish we had a toolset, as that seems like it would fix many of the little issues, but that has its own set of problems too ![]()
(to Fidite Nemini) I'm not sure if I'd consider that a fair comparison since DA:O was about establishing the world - it was the origin of the Dragon Age franchise itself - whereas the following installments were more about expanding and developing the world that had been established.
I find it odd that they aren't as active here as, lets say, Maxis is to their own respective forum. At least over there you can talk to a few of the developers about The Sims despite everything that went down with the fourth game.

(to X Equestris) Just for clarification, are the developers active in the multiplayer section the developers that specifically worked on multiplayer or?

(to X Equestris) Ah, thank you ![]()
Ah, that never grows old, so good ![]()
It would have been nice if we weren't left to figure out the mechanics all by ourselves. No wonder there's little interaction. DAI hardly added much to the lore, most regulars are well familiar with the established lore ever since DAII and DAI cracked down hard on game mechanics, so if there was anything to discuss about those, it would be why some were dropped like a sack of unwanted kittens, which is hardly a favourable course of discussion.
Why? It was never going to make it into the core game - the devs just didn't know that until they'd already made some of it.<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>
Paying for a DLC that was cut content is not Kosher. It's an abhorrent practice.
They should be allowed to sell their content. You're not entitled to free stuff.No... what is preferrable it is made freely available.... as in "we ran out of time to complete it before launch date"

They did claim a lot of the cut content from the game was still in the final product. And they did so just days before release. Right here on these boards. How you could customize the keeps you capture, and how they are important. The Crestwood bits that got cut as well.
Very good insight so far guys and I learn a lot from some of you especially the trend where Bioware developers used to be pretty active in their forum but not as of lately...
I'm not expecting the developers to interact with us 24/7 it's just not possible going by their busy schedule. Maybe just drop by a post or two regarding events that are relevant or giving us updates on something they're working on, example the Black Emporium?

Check Twitter for such news snippets. One sided communication mostly, but they do give out the odd update about their work, though most of that is noncommital foreshadowing.
I don't see how that's a reply to Sylvius' point.
They tell their customers the product contains a certain thing. It doesn't. They sell the bits they claim was in it in the first place, as DLC later.

The multiplayer forums get periodic interaction from BioWare's Blair, Graham and Luke, but that format is receiving ongoing support.
As far as the single player game is concerned, the forum is not a devs and production team 'hotline'.
Twitter serves that purpose somewhat in the sense that BioWare can easily fire a tweet, but again it is only those they choose.
In few other media (movies, music, books) would we expect access to those behind the product.
Partly there is less interaction because the dangers of saying something wrong (consumer regulation, revenue recognition) are greater.
Partly (even if there were toxic threads in the old days) there was a sea change in the welcoming tone on the forums after DA2/ME3.
There is a case for decent support, which EA Access is designed to provide, though personally I find it weak.

According to Laidlaw, the efforts are in MP...
Except they didn't claim thise things were in the game when they were selling it.They tell their customers the product contains a certain thing. It doesn't. They sell the bits they claim was in it in the first place, as DLC later.
