And wholly platonic relationships between men and women are rare. Not impossible, but if there aren't any distinct barriers between the man and woman (i.e one is in a relationship, there's an age or power dynamic difference, physical distance, etc) then friendship can lead to attraction in many cases.

I think when a male talks to a female, they have a pretty solid idea based on the girls body language, if shes flirting, what she talks to you about, how often she speaks to you. If she's more interested in being friends then she lets on. It's pretty obvious to see that. If you sincerely want a female to stop making advances. This is just rare.

 

Rare because when you hang out with a girl you should have a good idea about her intentions. It's almost sounding like its coming off as surprise when she breaks the barrier. If that really is the problem. Then what's wrong with making the lines of your relationship clear from the start. Being blunt. You are just friends, want nothing more. That's exactly where it needs to stay. I mean women do it to guys all the time.

Most of my friends are men and I've never had any problems with any of them thinking there could ever be more. I never flirt with any of them. Maybe that's why.
