A man and a woman remain friends if they're not interested in each other. Obvious as the rise of the sun every day.
Why can't men and women just be friends?

As a young woman who has plenty of strictly platonic relationships with guys, I am going to say that it is possible for opposite genders to just be friends. It's like having a bunch of brothers, really. I actually prefer having male friends because all the girls I know just want to sit around and gossip and make their lives seem more dramatic for no apparent reason.
There was one time when one of my platonic guy friends actually wanted to be something more, and I am completely ignorant when it comes to that type of thing. So I ended up breaking his heart and I didn't know it until maybe six months later when someone actually told me. I still feel terrible about that.

Personally speaking, I can't be friends with women because of physical sexual attraction and frankly speaking, women by and large just aren't that compelling to be around beyond small talk at the acquaintance level. Even as a pre-teen I knew the opposite sex were lousy at making friends just for the sake for being friends, we shared little to no common interests, nor were they as fun to shoot the **** with and be around like my boys. Any woman that IS compelling to be around and isn't some off putting hambeast physically, is someone that I'll be interested in pursuing for more than just "friends" and there's no getting around that.
TLDR: I have as much use for a female "friend" as an eskimo does a lawnmower.

they can be friends, but eventually, they're going to test the water out. It always ends up being that way.

When you look like this it's hard to keep the ladies away
I know what you mean. It's hella hard when you wear tights better than your girl-friend (the kind you don't just use for sex).

It's possible, but can be tricky since most people don't have a great deal of control over who they develop a romantic interest in.
Every girl I've been friends with has resulted in one or both of us wanting something more. Only one of them didn't eventually end up being something more, due to circumstances.
Although, it's the one that I actually still talk to today. Once you've been more than friends it can be very difficult to go back to being just friends, especially if one if you still has feelings for the other.

I don't think I could squeeze one out unless I asked her to look away and keep quiet.
