Playing after the end?

My character is currently level 11, I am playing in "Normal", and leveling in Crestwood at the moment. Similarly to what I did with ME series, this playthrough will NOT be my definitive one, it is simply one that I use to learn and optimize the combat mechanics, get a taste of the story, make mistakes (and learn from them), etc, then once I am comfortable, I move to a more demanding playthrough combat wise.

I've finished most of the Hinterlands, but other than getting Iron Bull, my leveling in the Savage Coast has been quite limited, and haven't even visited other areas tuned below level 11 yet!

If I don't want to trivialize the encounters from the main story quests I should keep going, but in my experience with DAO, DAII and (some of) the games of the ME series, there is a "point of no return" where any quest not finished at that point is no longer available, it is that the case with Inquisition? Would I be able to keep exploring, crafting and questing after the end of the game? Even if whatever "gear" I get would be useless since the most demanding encounter is due, the experience (not to be confounded with leveling) would be useful to chart my course toward the more demanding playthroughs afterward.

Thanks for your advice.

You can do anything except character quests after the end of the main quests. The gear is limited to story progression but it isn't much of a concern.

Also, quests Before Dawn and Under Her Skin have to be completed before the main quest What Pride Had Wrought.
