But doesn't Iron Bull get some protection from poison body paint? And mages can cast barriers. Rogues can turn invisible and can move really fast. Only warriors need to be for real reals. :P

Snark? :P It does seems to work so in this world Bioware has built.

Here two examples, that I love in games. One more or less realistic armor with a really good design.

wotv_shieldmaiden_dlc_006.jpg

Not that realistic but still good design.

I'd agree with this, but only if this was applied to everything. For y'know, muh realism. So mages wearing simple robes made of cloth should be one-shotted by archers and melee enemies. Same goes for Iron Bull, one hit instadeath, since he's basically naked.

Perhaps "realism" isn't quite the right word to use, but rather grounded, since being absolutely true to life isn't really as important as having a better balance in the way these things are designed, of course while being fairly sensible to at least give some impression that the armor is actually useful. It's why I have such a problem with the idiotic armor designs of Mass Effect 2, where most of your companions have parts of their limbs or torso exposed, or lack sealed helmets and such no matter the environment.

As for being one-shotted by archers and melee, that's more of a gameplay segregation thing, for the same reason why the Predator pistol killed people in one shot, or scout Harding and the Inquisition scouts were able to take out mages and Templars with a single arrow each in that first Hinterlands cut scene.

This I disagree with with, large breasts do not work the same way. Boob plate is horrible and should not be in game. If you want something like Isabela sure, I am all for it. Boob plate is unrealistic in another whole level because it is not functional or comfortable.

Armor should be the exactly same for female and male characters, that is fair. Unless they put a ridiculous codpiece and boob armor, that is another story.

The deal with boob plate is that it isn't actually reacting to the wearer's form, like form-fitting clothing. Obviously plate armor can't do that. It is simply a cosmetic feature similar to the muscled cuirass. It would be no less roomy than standard plate.

a4ykbq.jpg

It is entirely plausible and would be functional.

As for gender equality, I covered that in earlier post. I don't think all female armor designs should fall into the 'boob armor' category, but I don't have a problem with inclusion of a few as well. The same armor when equipped by a male character should appear as some version of a muscled cuirass.

Well, of course it's just jocular snark. This topic isn't serious enough for me to be aggrieved or agitated over. Besides, it takes a lot to offend me. A lot.

That beig said, there is a bit of truth behind it. I do see a lot of double standards. Some things are given passes, while other areas ignored. Personally, I find the differences in class armors to be a little underwhelming in DAI and I find a lot of the armors within classes to be too similar for my tastes. I think anytime you can add more diversity, the better. This armor is world established, it would be optional and wouldn't be so cost sucking that it would break the focus in anything else.

Or, maybe I am just remembering the "Hey Bioware! Remove the boob staff!" thread and it's creating some sort of premonition where the world slips into an alternate universe where it's shameful to not be offended by anything mammary shaped and even a hint of nipple forces women to wear a Scarlet S on their shirts for "Stripper".

It's a slippery slope the line between snark and truth. :P

Actually it is in games, form-fitting that is. That why, there is even jiggle boob physics lol if you want a armor that does the same as that, well it would be connect on the front just like Meredith armor and not really like Skyrim steel one.

Changing the word doesn't change the argument. Saying "grounded" or "down to earth" doesn't change anything when the argument is exactly the same. It means realistic, which is fine if the argument is consistent, but it isn't. Since page one of this thread people have been picking and choosing when things are ok to be impractical or not. The "It's unrealistic" arguments are defenestrated when dragons elves, swords larger than the people carrying them etc are all commonplace.

As to it being gameplay/lore segregation, the post I was responding to was saying there should be consequences in gameplay for impractical armor. By the same logic it's only natural to assume it should apply to all armor/lack of it. Serious consequences for not wearing a helmet, wearing thin materials as opposed to full plate. That kind of thing.

Pfft, he still is! I think he is more sexy now than in TW2.

I remember watching the "Killing Monsters" trailer and nearly having the vapors while a friend was with me (a non-gamer who doesn't even know who Geralt is) and she was like, "Really, KeKe? He looks like a warrior Santa Claus!" lol so different strokes, I guess.

lol!!  He's not bad, but that new design was just my type.  Handsome and rough. :D

There is jiggle physics in boob plate armor? Or did I read this wrong? There isn't. There isn't jiggle physics in Skyrim either. I have worn the old nord armor and my boobs were good.

If I read this wrong, I apologize.

In general female players don't want everything censored and everything unsexy. What people want is equality. More female characters to match those male characters. More variety. More female characters who aren't sexy, since that's not all there is to woman. Not female characters in more revealing clothing than male characters. That author didn't even once state why the same armor covered up whole male character and was like steel bikini on female character and how it would make lot of female player to feel.

Personally, As a female player I just want more sexy male characters to match all those sexy females characters. Why should the men look like a beaten up old truck while only the women look smooth and put together?  I don't watch movies et al to see a bunch of ugly people on the screen, especially when they're on the screen 90% of the time. I can see that IRL. IMO, Let the guys have their sexy boob armor plated women, just as long as I get to oogle  sexy men with  nice bodies.

I think they are referring to form-fitting armor instead of mainly bulky armor

I like having both ridiculously big armor that hides my body in a game if I feel like making a barbarian type character.. Or almost no armor, more savage armor that shows off muscle.

I also go for "Stylish" or more regal clothing like in my previous screenshots within the thread.

Form fitting should be an option for both genders as well.

What I agree would be silly is if skimpy armor was the only form of armor or the dominant gear choice for any gender. Otherwise I still don't see a problem with having all options on the table

Nah not Skyrim, just generally. The last one I played had, Guild Wars 2. Also it comes down to physics too a flat surfaces with some inclinations do a better job at protecting the front torso.

Eh... in principle yes, in practice? No. Look at haircuts. 5 buzzcuts. You can't tell me that it would have made an impact on either budget or buzzcut afficionado satisfaction if there had been one less buzzcut and one hairdo with longer hair. Same with armor.

Armour is far more complex than hair. But let's say someone is crazy into buzz cuts. How would that person not be disappointed by one less option?

Each armour model means at least 4 models. Likely 8 because DA doesn't do gender segregated armour. That's costly.

That would be one solution to issue, but over all I would like to see some variety depending on style of game.

All man love boobs. Sorry all straight man and lesbian women love boobs. Good I fixed this don't want to offend anyone.

I'd like to think even a gay man could appreciate a nice pair of boobs here and there.

I am a straight woman and I appreciate beauty in all shapes, forms and genders. I think a woman's body can be alluring and beautiful... and down right hot, in some cases.

Still outta likes?   :(

You remind me of a good friend of mine.  She's straight and loved art, but preferred female subjects.  I used to get her art books with beautiful semi-nude to nude women in them for years for birthdays and the holidays.  It wasn't about a sexual attraction, but rather just enjoying the beauty of the female form.  I've known some gay men over the years that felt the same way.  They've told that they think women look lovely, they just don't have a desire to sleep with them.  I'm speaking from an outside perspective though, since I'm not straight.   :P

Funny you should mention art. I absolutely love impressionism, but Sandro Botticelli is my favorite artist for his depiction of women. I have a reproduction of Primavera over my bed you have no idea how many of my friends have seen it and made a comment that it's weird that I have a painting of semi-nude pregnant women over my bed. They act as though I have a kink for it. Some people cannot make the distinction between nudity and sex.

I'm a Royo fan and I have one of his paintings in the living room.   :P  I don't remember the exact name of the piece and searching for "Royo sword maiden" or "Royo sword female warrior" produces too many results, none of them the actual print I own.

My favorite part about the piece is where it came from.  My younger brother for all intents and purposes looks pretty much like a boxer and has a pretty deep voice.  He's a tall broad shouldered guy and everything about him on appearance screams, "Alpha Male."   He knew that I'm a big fan of warrior goddess and bought it for me and my husband because of that.  It's a pretty big print too.   This is also the same guy that wore a pink Pretty Princess T-shirt and a tiara for pictures of his wife's baby shower.   :P

Could someone kindly PM the above paragraph to David Gaider?

There are many women like Hazegurl out there who don't mind us guys having beautiful females to look at. Not all women are sadistic, hate filled feminists who desire nothing more than the eradication of the male species.

Hazegurl you have my blessing to have as many hot looking males as you want, I don't mind at all as long as I get ONE female romance option per Dragon Age game that looks female, NOT christopher pentaghast or mr. joseph, AN ACTUAL WOMAN THAT LOOKS LIKE A GOD DAMN WOMAN.

This is a fair compromise, I hope Bioware reads this.  I don't mind seeing good looking male characters in game who are healthy and strong. If anything it just motivates me to workout.  I don't get jealous or offended.  I want women to enjoy the same high level sexual content that men get to enjoy.

Instead of just being politically correct, just give everyone lustfilled debauchery.   I would like to see lots of good looking female and males for both straight and lgbt gamers.  It's a fantasy world after all.  I understand variety, but you can't neglect the main core which is beautiful people.

Bring back the desire demons both male & female depending on what sexuality and gender the player is.  Bring back the sex appeal man, it will only make things better not worse.

Honestly I don't even know why I bother.  I guess most of us want another dragon age origins, but that Bioware we know is long gone.

OBSIDIAN, ARE ANY OF YOU GUYS READING THIS? PLEASE MAKE AN RPG LIKE DRAGON AGE ORIGINS, BIOWARE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT ANYMORE. OBSIDIAN & PARADOX WILL SAVE US.

- FACT: Pillars of Eternity got a better metacritic score than Dragon Age 2 & Inquisition.

- FACT: Cities Skylines was the real simcity that we deserved.

- FACT: ..... Obsidian will eventually identify what EA & Bioware are neglecting and quickly fill the void like a boss!

Again with this?  Seriously, if it's that much of an issue, play Witcher.  Problem solved.

Everyone is different.  Just because you don't like the look of a character doesn't mean that no one does.  Everyone has different tastes.
