I think the writers said it all, and I doubt they are going to change their minds:

"...Iron Bull: Some high-ranking women wore ornamental crap with t*ts hammered into it.  One good shot, and all that cleavage gets knocked right into the sternum. Real messy. Good on you for going practical..."

It is not even close to a good reason. Both real life and fantasy shows us that A ****** HUGE number of people risk their lives for vanity. From health damaging outfits and products to life risking surgeries and other medical procedures. Be it breaking ankles due to a high heel or dying while filling body with silicon sometimes vanity matters a lot more than health or life.

Men trying ti enhance their muscles or women pumping their breasts are common cause of death specially when said people try to do it spending very little money.

Thing is: People have different priorities.

"Oh yeah but you missed the point, thing is that people die if they wear boob plate" - Yeah, right. If you give me a game with 100% functional armor I will totally accept that. But with open chest Varric and Iron Bull and super high orlesian fashion Vivienne everything the writters say about "realism" sound like HUGE COLOSSAL GARGANTUAN SUPERMASSIVE BULLSHIT.

They are trying to make a point, one I could agree, specially when I don't care if all unpractical armor goes for men, I would love to create a queer final fantasy kpop Inquisitor with side boobs and side ass. I don't mind objectifying men while giving practical armor for women, it is fair as far as I'm concerned (seriously). But go on pretending it is not a political act but a matter of logic is bullshit. I have infinite+1 reasons to say so, from the fact that the armor could be built to present boobs over the actual plate just for fashion to the most basic idea that being a magical world allows us to make a lot of impractical things like fighting in Vivienne clothes (or Isabella's) and a lot of **** in the middle, but seriously, Inquisition itself laughs at it's own claim to present practical armor.

Are they seriously trying to convince me that Varric with an open shirt showing his chest hair is not certain death while a Qunari hits him with a two handed sword? C REE OWLS LEE ?

Also, I suppose lorewise barriers are perfect and infinite since usually fire (specially a huge dragon breath) would burn mage clothes in seconds. I could point so many dangerous outfits in Thedas through so many characters, including in Inquisition that the whole boob plate becomes ridiculous. It is like The Hulk talking to Thor about how ridiculous it is for Superman to destroy a building. The phrase "the joke is on you" comes to mind when I think about Iron Bull dialogue.

I don't know how they picture some armors protecting people in Inquisition but they are highly delusional if they think they went practical. Bioware, quit mushroom and acid, please.

A quick google search only showed me speculations on various forums, but I didn't see anything that was immediately conclusive.

Like sure, Bioware could have taken them for reasons regarding potentially offended clients.

Or maybe they're getting super  revamped and will return in DA4 bigger and badder than ever. Who knows.

It could be for any reason but some are so quick to point to "political correctness" or "it's offensive" etc

It's honestly becoming a massive buzzword

Well, based on that bit of banter, as well as the Ceremonial Armor requisition (a chainmail bikini with arrows in it,) I don't think that boob plate armor will make a return to DA any time soon.  We'll probably see more designs like Vivienne's or Isabela's though for the rogues and mages.  However, boob armor for warriors?  You're better off asking the modders for assistance.  A lack of boob armor is also more consistent with the rest of DA's art style for their armor.  If there was detailed armor for men such as in the OP, then I wouldn't care.  However, the boob armor is out of place for Dragon Age, and I'm thankful the writers feel the same way.

Don't like it? Get a mod, or request a mod and stop whining.

These armors look absolutely ridiculous. Please, Bioware, don't include these in your game ever again.

Most definitely. I feel like a lot of the conversations where it gets brought up essentially boil down to "I am offended that you find something offensive. Never mind that we all have different perspectives and opinions"

I think you could make a female version of the muscly manplate which made sense in context, but this thread is already on fire and losing altitude.

...Out of curiosity, have anyone actually confirmed why desire demons were taken out? Or are we all just taking arms up over it, over possibilities?

Not to my knowledge. There are other monsters that didn't make the cut as well, like those sexy, sexy abominations.

I suspect that it's partly right, and Desire Demons current appearance was dropped due to it being kind of stupid.

Those tassels XD I think they could potentially make for an interesting mechanic, so I'd be rather pleased if they got a little revamped to better suit the player (it'd be kind of cool if a desire demon actually tried to cast a spell on you. Could make for some interesting dialog mechanics, as options are locked down as you feel the effects of it)

But like...they weren't super integral. So I can't really complain either way ^_^

Tbh, I was hoping to see every demon (new and old) along with abominations to appear :(

Hopefully some appear in DLC or next game

Maybe they'll make a desire demon for an end-DLC boss? I think it'd suit the Desire demons hierarchy in terms of demonic power (they're second to Pride demons only I believe?), being a boss, rather than just a random mob monster.

Forgot to add

I'm surprised we didn't see more abominations. This seems like a situation where that would actually happen more often to mages.

Focusing on the title of the thread and skipping the contents of the OP entirely, I say why not? Personally, I do not like boob plate (men or women), but why not add an armor schematic that has the design? Doesn't hurt me and I wouldn't have to equip it on any of my if I don't want to.

Edit: Was pleasantly surprised to see it gone in DAI though.

The desire demon as it was conceived WAS offensive. A frontal nude of women who have the body of a porn star? And one of them actually assaults a child?

If the developers truly bothered with gender equality, why appeal to the old trick of using naked women to easily attract male players? They should have used both male and female desire demons.

I like breast plates too. I see nothing wrong with them. Doubt DA will implement them, but I have nothing against them in a fantasy game.

I mean, mages wear cloth. They would be the first thing an enemy would take out and they wear bath robes. Right now, my warrior is wearing a leather coat that has as much protection as plate. It isn't a medieval simulator. Some things can be given artistic license. Choice isn't a bad thing. No one would force your warrior to wear it. Don't see the big hoohah, tbh.

final fantasy kpop Inquisitor with side boobs and side ass.

I just wanted to stop by and approve this concept wholeheartedly, considering I spend pretty much 95% of my time playing FFXIV or listening to kpop.

Given that you, OP, used Skyrim's steel plate armor for your example, I feel comfortable pimping one of my fav Skyrim mods that deals with it.  Practical Female Armors...  http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/48160/

Now, don't get me wrong.  I like da boobies.  Really.  But I am not gonna stand by and have my sweet baby Uthgerd the Unbroken get broken right in the sternum because she fell on her protuding boobie protectors.  That's just not cool.

And here I thought the reason you were posting 'Cassandra looks like a man!' stuff on the Obsdian forums is that you'd been banned from here again. I guess you just have time on your hands.

Anyway: I am happy to see the boob plate banished. Either wear something that actually protects your torso, or go with the full Isbela battle-corset if your fighting style relies on not getting hit and you want to distract people. I doubt we've seen the last of female characters that show skin on the battlefield - and that's OK, since there are also male characters like Iron Bull and Varric around. But boob plate is just silly.

That's my current working theory, yes. I can't imagine that someone posting this stuff just to troll would bother doing so on a forum for a completely different cRPG. It might be sad if it wasn't so hilarious.
