Hmph. Reality may very well dictate the physics you propose. But, I was under the impression that I'm playing a fantasy game. ... which by its very nature, means disingaging from actual physical laws.

Going the route of practicality, means that the 2H swords in DA2 are simply unwieldy and impractical to be used in actual combat.  Yet, there they were.  Personally I see armour molded to a proper male/female physique to be aesthetically pleasing.... no need for nipples.... that Batman custume looked silly with the nips showing.

Exactly, thank you. Unfortunately I ran out of likes for the day thanks to one particular poster elucidating me on the biology of spiders >.>

It's a poor design when it comes to battle. Having a space between the breasts would divert blows directly towards the center of the breastbone, resulting in immediate death. Even a fall while wearing an armor with a design like that could possibly shatter the breastbone. So again, your stupid idea is STUPID!!

I think the risk posed by the structure of the armor is greatly exaggerated.

So called boob-armor would protect against strikes by swords or pikes just as well as standard breastplates. In fact for many weapons the attacker would want to avoid hitting the breastplate with their weapon, as it would do little to no damage except to their own weapon. If you are using weapons that wound or kill by stabbing or slashing, the objective is to avoid the armored bits and go for the joints.

Weapons that wound or kill by blunt force trauma would pose a threat. But then taking a full war hammer swing to the chest is going to put you down no matter what kind of armor you're wearing.

To a certain degree, yes, but there has to be a reason why we're disengaging from reality.  You know, magic, lyrium, Demons, gods, the Fade...

So unless you can tell me that all boob armor is made by mages magically enchanting the armor so blades slide outward rather than inward when they strike... curvature... it still makes no sense, even in the context of "it's a fantasy game"

Since by that logic, my rogue Inquisitor should simply be able to turn the venatori into a flock of chickens and have a huge barbeque at skyhold, because it's a fantasy game, right?   ;)

Yes, the 2H swords being essentially Buster Swords was rather silly and impractical.  It was mentioned even back when the game first came out.  So was Isabela not wearing any pants, and elves not wearing shoes, etc.

Wth is this? Not only it looks stupid, but also ugly.

Honestly I wouldn't mind skimpy outfits in future DA games as long as they are for both genders, but the armor above just looks ridiculous. So, no boob plate armor pls.

Actually I was kinda dissapointed when I couldn't dress my female Qunari in a  skimpy outfit, considering Iron Bull has one. Hell I would even dress my heroine in something like what Morrigan or Vivienne wears.

Their outfits show skin, but are elegant at the same time. Aaand I consider myself a feminist, so can you dear OP stop spreading your little lies about teh evul feminists? K, thanks.

And WTF, you say Cassandra has a male body now? Have you forgotten, dear, about taking your medicine or what? Do it, because silly things you say.

Also I don't know why you friends keep talking about realism. It's a fantasy game. Dragons. Magic. Enchantments! F*ck the realism!!

I'm not a fan of that design either, but I think some armor designs that fall into the 'boob armor' category look good. I think these look awesome:

In regards to the Skyrim armor bit, I like the rest of the armor design especially the helmet but the chest piece bits just look... weird and the swirl patterns emphasising them does not help it in my opinion.

There is a lead to believability, some people just choose to ignore it. The armor from Origins can be as believable as mage robes. People argue that mage robes and their cloth armor is acceptable because of barriers. Game mechanics allow for support team and mages can cast barriers on not only themselves, but their comrades on the field, as well. There is also the fact that warriors generate guard, which gives them just as much protection as a barrier for a mage.

I mean, I know this discussion has leaned toward chainmail bikinis and other nonsense, but we're talking about the armor from Origins. If people want to start omitting armor for being too sexualized like actual chainmail bikinis, that is one thing. To omit armor that has already been established in this fantasy setting simply because they see it as being inefficient, then I can go through an extensive list of both armor and weapons that Bioware should remove that is still in the game. Origins had female armor that contained both boob plate and an ab plate.

Personally, I like that armor. That armor looks more efficient than the Heavy Adventure Armor from Inquisition, as well as nearly any armor Bull wears. Anyway, I like that armor. It's a matter of taste, I suppose.

Of course, my unicorn. Everything is a matter of taste.

Though some people have poor taste hehe.  ;)

I'll admit, the worst thing about that armor for me is that lousy helmet. People like to give DA:I a hard time about helmets, but I find them to be better in general than a lot of the crap I see elsewhere. When it's not scifi it ends to be a lot of chaff.

Honestly, boob armour to me is as silly an idea as dick armour. Like, having a dick shaped receptacle in the armour for it. It's silly.

You have clear evidence all over the thread that it's subjective, thanks to all of these people talking about their opinion about what kind of armor they like

Random has nothing to do with it

I have clear evidence it's objective, thanks to the congregation of "likes" (or at least attention) on certain posts and not others.

Not to mention people might like (or dislike) based on things like whether they like (or dislike) the poster, they might be trying to artificially support a notion that is contrary to reality because it's just more favorable for them. They might also just be, well, you know, lying.

Edit: I mean compare Han's post with the one right above.. I gurantee with 3 billion percent certainty that Han will win in the "like" department as in actually like those, whereas the majority of the ones that actually like the above (if anyone) are likely doing so out of incredulity or joining in the mockery, not because they actually like that costume.

I'm just saying more people would probably find Cassandra cuter if she had more stylish/body emphasis armor.. it's not really that complicated. I'm not really saying anything about anything or the merits of people generally, I'm just saying what kind of armor/styling/look people like isn't random or subjective.

I've never seen a poster who finds Cassandra unattractive cite her armor as a factor. It's all about the face.

Pretty sure there aren't any accounts of women soldiers using their breasts to distract men in combat though.

Pirate Mary read exposed her breast in battle for distraction.

Except for the dick thing it is perfect. I wouldn't mind it in game since I am not forced to wear that, and I only care about my character. I would even put it in a male character if we could choose dick size, I hate bick dicks, the small ones are cute.

Haha the typo is hilarious. I lol'd so hard.

My friends laugh at me when I make a character in Saint's Row. I always make my female character's "Sexiness" level around 32 and all my males level around 85. I don't know why. It's a compulsion.

Having never played Saints Row... there is a 'sexiness level'?  Like a slider from 0 to 100? Or were you using a figure of speech?

If I recall correctly theres a slider called Sex Appeal which on female characters it increases or decreases the breast size and for male characters it does the same but for genitals.

Yes, that is correct. I want to say it started in SR3, since that is when the game went fully into tongueincheek.

I want to know how that makes any kind of sense. If I'm meeting someone for the first time, I can guarantee you that I won't be asking to see down their pants to consider if they are sexy. We would probably start at things like hygiene, manners, physical appearance, and personality. :P

It would be interesting if they added something like that to RPGs, though. You think a romance character is ugly? Well, what if the one you DO like thinks you're not their type? Maybe the hot blonde with big breasts doesn't like overly masculine looking guys. She prefers 'em short and average. Facial hair? You're done. Won't ever happen, but it could be fun to see the reactions.
