This isn't real life, however. (...)

I'm not sure what the argument here is. I brought up the boob plate death trap thing in relation to Bull's argument against it and his own not armoured ness. Han has since said that that argument might be exaggerated and I'm inclined to agree. I'm not arguing and haven't argued that DA shouldn't have boob plates because deflection physics. I guess I should have stuck to saying I don't think it's so ridiculous for an unarmoured combatant to fight against armoured combatants.

Personally I prefer realism to fantasy, but that's because I think it's cool. I think real armours look cool. When I'm playing a game about spaceships I'd like those spaceships to be based off real world aircraft because I think Su-27s and Ka-50s and so on look dope.

I think Iron Bull gives a very good lesson regarding boob armor.

"Some high-ranking women wear ornamental crap with ****** hammered into it. One good shot, and all that cleavage gets knocked right into the sternum. Real messy. Good on you for going practical."

Say the guy who fight half naked

I see an excellent compromise that should please everyone.

Iron Bull should wear Boob Armour.

...I sort of thought that Qunari were a "hardier" race with tough hides. So I assumed that they, regardless of sex, are more up for being scant with armour than any other race.

So if you want bikini armour... chances are it's gonna be on a Qunari. A huge, muscular, husky, female Qunari.

Which in that case, hells yeah!

So we can get

Rasaan_Library_Edition.png
(That's Rasaan, the Qunari Tamassran appearing in "Those who speak", this picture being the cover of the Library Edition iirc)

Yes please. But I doubt we ever will. The shitstorm would have biblical proportions. =(

P.S. Can we have that hair for our qunari PCs please? pretty please?

Iron BUll flashes his "bosomy man-pillows" in combat anyway.  If anything, he'd be covering up with boob armor  :P

Fighting naked is preferable to a death-trap that is boob plate armor...

You could ask other people what they thought of it rather than just assuming they would rage.

But the internet is full of storms, I doubt that would inspire anything particularly significant.

I think the dangers posed by that sort of armor design are somewhat exaggerated. It would protect just as well against swords or pikes as a standard breastplate. Weapons that inflict damage via blunt force would be an issue, but then taking a hit to the chest with a war hammer is going to put you in a world of hurt no matter what you are wearing. Also the 'boob plate' would provide more protection than chain, leather, or padded armor.

yes your are 100% right  and we could even says that fem-shep,Liara or ash armor have boobs and we are all kind of fine with that.

In SF the gear is about the same type for dude and and girls.

http://oyster.ignimg...der_Shepard.jpg

and regardless of the class i think that is really the trick. after all DW are usually scantly clothed, though before IB tank=heavy armor so there was a bit more of form and function argument

The problem in Fantasy is that

http://forum.bioware...ull-dread-mask/

is not quite the same as that

https://warhammeronl...hammerchick.jpg

and that boob armor always  starts with that

http://imgur.com/gallery/pIh4A

and end up like that

http://bestgamewallp...-nights/aribeth

It has nothing about prudishness, I don't mind the WH witch elf outfit at all, provided that the same exist for the male version. yes the way of fighting and the armour deos not work in RL, and i am all for fantasy fighting style and armour.

ps

Bunt force does not work on plate, When plate appeared maces disappear.  Hammer (in the 15th century object) is an armor piercing weapon.

that being said on the with my cuirass and my placard i have about 2.7-3 mm of steel on the front..... that can about take a couched lance.

when i jousted, only with experience i could tell if i was hit or not... (and i have been hit in the head and the gorget a few times....)

Oh god, I remember reading the threads full of people complaining about how she was dressed back when the comic was first released. There's absolutely no chance that Qunari women will be scantily clad when/if they start to appear regularly in the games. Like I said in another thread, consistency comes second to the fanbase's reactions. Rassan is "offensive" even though half naked male Qunari are not.

I wouldn't say I'm "fine" with Ash and Liara's  or FemShep's armors.   Just that they are somewhat less blatant about the look.  Honestly, I find Cassandra's and Aveline's looks refreshing in their lack of "Look!  BOOBS!" appearance.  For years I've been saying outfits can be both practical and stylish in appearance.

Eh, Par Vollen is in a tropical region.  As long as we dont' see outfits like that in combat,  that's okay if we ever visit there.

And if she ever visits colder regions like Emprise du Lion, I'd hope she'd cover up before she catches cold   :P

Uh, after all these threads here getting locked left and right exactly due to that rage, do you believe that would go over without a shitstorm? I have confidence in my prediction. It's based on observation of what's happening here on BSN every single day.

@Iakus: I loved Ash's/Liara's/Femshep's armor, but the boobs always struck me as a tad too large. *shrugs*

Yeah, but then some will press the whole "Iron Bull can be shirtless while in Emprise du Lion and he doesn't complain" deal.

Never mind offensive, that really IS impractical unless her breasts are literally hard lumps that never move or she has those bits of cloth glued to her nipples. The moment she starts bending, moving, turning, it would all be over and all be out. This is a case where the sports bra look would have made sense and have fit better with the thematic concept of where they are from and what her position is. The priests don't fight, right? And it's hot where they come from? Great. A midriff tank top would have been fine. This? That's more ridiculous than boob plate and anyone possessing of breasts could tell you precisely why.

On that note, I'm a little surprised that no one's mentioned Red Sonja.

This isn't an exaggeration. Nobody in their right mind would be wearing anything this dangerous - once you don it, unless you do nothing and avoid fighting, you can pretty much say bye-bye to your sternum, and everything behind it...

Again with the physics, we are in a fantasy  world. If we want to truly get all realistic then women wouldn't even be effective warriors due to the disparity in strength, speed, stamina any any number of factors between them and their male counterparts. Suggest that female warriors deal less damage and absorb a lot less before they die however, and then realism becomes a dirty word.

Unless we're going to go all the way we all need to stop with these discussions about physics, they don't apply. At all.

Ah, again with the 'impractical'. We always get back to this. I think the problem is that we simply cannot agree on where exactly the sweet spot is on the scale from [maky-uppy-cookoo-land ----to---- historically accurate representation of the late 15th century]. I kinda agree with your 'sports bra' comment, but on the other hand, I don't see a reason why we shouldn't be able to suspend our disbelief (which is actually required for any kind of fiction to work) just like we do with two-handed heavy weapons.

(And uh, that's her default outfit; though she is behind enemy lines, I think she expects to encounter physical opposition. The book depicts her as a highly trained, elite fighter.)
