Those ears make me feel unease for some reason.
Bring back boob plate armor.

Sure, why not? FF is thoroughly Japanese though, with very different sensibilities (as well as even more ridiculous armors for many female charas) and I don't think we'll see many characters like this in media done in the West, for a while at least.
They did tone down his armor.. or lack off, a lot though in the final product although they have female characters that wear much less than he would have weared
That seems to make you a sad Panda!
I feel like no thread on this topic would be complete without a Cidney picture.

Although I think the OP was still hopeful for armor of some kind (not clothes necessarily)

That's the problem with final fantasy I guess, they just wow you with cool ideas. Then they come out with designs like Cid-ney and the Sasuke look alike (main protagonist) that leads a boy band across Murricaland to defeat the big bad evil.

hahah I laughed because I get where you are coming from, honestly though I think it's pretty insanely cute here though, it doesn't bother me really. Besides **** look at "Mature Dark Fantasy Dragon Age."

This is the most funny and accurate thing I've read in regards to the latest FF game so far. I giggled hard enough to where I woke my dogs up. ![]()

I for one am glad they stuck to their guns and said they wouldn't be changing the Cidney design after the perpetually offended crowd complained that it was "too sexy" and "problematic." Not because I like the design, I don't, but because it's a win for anti-censorship. Too many devs have had to self-censor to appease people who get offended by the slightest things because they don't comply with their ideologies.

Trying to figure out whats keeping the bottom half staying on and none of the things I can think of seem all that pleasant. Then again it's very late and I'm very tired and very much over thinking this.

In my case, it has nothing to do with too sexy or problematic. I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy X-2 (and still ignore the haters,) always have been,(yes, I've gotten the 100% ending a few times now) and there is some pretty stripperific costumes in there. The Lady Luck is probably the most revealing of them all and damned if it isn't one of the most OP dress spheres in the game.
I just think that Cidney looks ridiculous and too young. The colors aren't really flattering and the hat looks absurd. The cleavage and the short-shorts never bothered me. There is still plenty of gamers that go nuts over FFVII and Tifa was rocking some large...assets and some tiny shorts too.
If folks want to focus on the "sexy" costumes in the games as a concern, then they've clearly never played a FF game before. <shrug>

I'm glad they stuck to their guns too. I wouldn't dare call her sexy myself.. And i am an ogre. I thought I had reasonable standards.. Maybe she's just too country and I'm not hardcore enough or something?

I want male desire demons because I'm curious what their "demon" form looks like for desire demon. But please have a female desire demon too.. Or even better, a companion demon

not sure how that could work.
Okay, but the companion demon is male.

Well.. Why not both? *scheme* desire demons afterall change on their targets mark?Okay, but the companion demon is male.
For what I recall, their voice also altered a bit in demon form. Hybrid phonetics, so you arguably could use one voice actor for male/female companion.

Indeed she does.
I still find it funny that folks are complaining about Cidney being "too sexy." I mean, have they never seen footage from even FFX? Lulu has cleavage spilling out everywhere and most fans (including me) could care less. The costumes have always been over the top. That's part of the point of the art style for those games.

I think it'd make more sense for desire demons to shapeshift* into an alluring form relevant to their current ruse, and have some decidedly unalluring Giger inspired monstrous true form.
*Or alter the dream like Tom Hardy, or whatever it is they do.
I still find it funny that folks are complaining about Cidney being "too sexy."
Is it actually that big a deal? There's always someone who complains about something, seems to me some people are overeager to dwell on it.

Okay, but the companion demon is male.
If anything it should be interchangeable depending on the sexual orientation of the player character, since they are supposed to take a form that's appealing to the person they're trying to manipulate. That however would create the need for a silly toggle to confirm whether you're into men or women, which would go down REAL well... Yeah I think it's best to not have a ddesire demon companion anytime soon.
Yes I realise i'm overthinking this.

Personally, I think some folks are making a big deal out of nothing. Sexy costumes on their female characters is nothing new, so I chuckle when someone brings that up. I mainly avoid much of anything to do with current Final Fantasy games, but I've seen that silly complaint come up. I tend to follow gaming news from a few sites, so that's why I even know it exists.
All I know is that I felt burned on the last couple of FF games I played, aside from Crisis Core, and I'm waiting for reviews. I'm not going to flush another $60 down the drain for another flashy but crappy FF game.

Alright, that's a marvelous idea. I'm game!
The reason why a demon would want to follow the protagonist? Maybe they resist the temptation. Whatever it is, and they absolutely have to have their contract fulfilled.
It's their story, the writers. I hope this is somehow within their realm of possibility. I'm not the most avid dragon age universe fellow or knowledgable on desire demons, but they are. Make it happen bioware...!

The thing that gets me about Cidney is that I can't help but feel that she must have a gargantuan walk-in closet of identical replacement outfits, because she apparently wears that getup while working on machinery, and I doubt she can easily just clean grease off of that bright yellow jacket.

So male character that was criticized for showing too much skin was censored, but female character who was criticized for same reason wasn't. Yay?
Just shows double standards that still affect gaming industry and also what crowd they listen.. and that's not the one who wants sexes show equal amount of skin in games.

That's the only example of that happening, there's dozens of examples of what i'm talking about. Mortal Kombat X, Multiple Bioware titles, PoE and God of War have all recently engaged in self censorship in order to prevent people getting offended. God of War actually removed all fights against female characters/monsters because they were accused of glorifying violence against women. Yay for equality!
