this is how it works for female armor.. while he's not being completely serious it's the closest to an explanation as any can expect.
I guess all female characters in MMORPG's have invisible Vitars.. that would explain everything...

Clothes don't make a person, one way or another.
What does oversexualization even mean?
Idk how that is related on issue why male characters aren't dressed in revealing clothing when female characters in same game are.
Look a little bit of video animedreamer posted. In general if female characters armor looks more stuff from erotica/pornography than armor that people are supposed to fight in.. in the game that is not supposed to be erotica/pornography, but RPG/action/etc. then there is oversexualisation going on.

I'm just kinda saying aren't there more important things going on in the world?
I don't think the clothes have ever affected how I view a game.
Even if I'm being completely superficial, it's more going to be the characters themselves (body type, hair style/color, etc). The clothes are just a big accessory really. My favorite games are the ones that treat them as such (i.e. Resonance of Fate where you have a bunch of different styles and options)
Treating them as like an instrinsic part of design and as an intrinsic part of the character is just kind of off to me.What is the character going to say? What are their likes and dislikes? What is the point of the character? These things are pretty central. Clothes have pretty much nothing to do with sexualization IMO one way or another.

I guess I can't just agree then. For me what my characters and other wear is major part of their character design and them as characters. Everyone's outfit in DA series tell who they are, where they are from and what kind of persons they are. Are they mage, rogue or warrior? What is their aligment and where they are from? What kind of personality they have? This all translates to clothing of character.
Sexualisation for characters come mostly from clothing, but also camera angles and animation (exeggerated boob or butt jiggle or sth similar), also writing and so on. But clothing is first thing you will spot when looking of character, it's big part of first impression of that character too.
I'd be okay if I could have Vitaar armor for my male character if it had the best stats on it. I can understand not agrees to that.

Then what is the point of asking for outfits of certain aesthetic qualities to be put in the game?

Ah, but that's just the thing, innit?

The fact that people fixate so much on the aesthetic clothing/appearance itself in the first place is at least a big a problem as whatever problems are inherent in the MKX series.
I mean all these SJWs (whoever/wherever they are) with their fixation on clothing, it's really you are going to save the world by vanquishing tank tops and panties or something? Thank god, I was barely able to survive the other day what with all these malicious outfits attacking me from every direction.
Like these people spent all their time and energy making sure Mileena has Pants, thanks social justice warriors, thank you so dearly, all our lives have been saved by your valiant efforts to get a fictional character some pants.

bruh... you've been here in the DAI subforums vehemently proclaiming the superiority of JRPG outfit aesthetics since well before the game came out, and it's been 7 months since that happened.
This is what they meant by you lacking any capacity for self reflection.
Hm did I? Well anyway they certainly don't take it so seriously, maybe that's why I like them? I never get the impression what a character wears is of such sovereign importance in Japanese games (although it happens), I mean what's going on in your avatar picture, some insane over-sized hat. That doesn't show me how important it is, that shows me out little it matters, and consequently why it comes off as more fun to me.
That was actually the example I cited earlier (Resonance of Fate).

Yep, missed the point as usual.Hm did I? Well anyway they certainly don't take it so seriously, maybe that's why I like them?
You don't recognize Marisa? For shame.I mean what's going on in your avatar picture, some insane over-sized hat. That doesn't show me how important it is, that shows me out little it matters, and consequently why it comes off as more fun to me.
Try again. I've been here for a long time.I mean have you ever had a DA or ME avatar at any rate? No.

You could argue the aesthetic isn't important in Touhou only because ZUN's art is so freaking terribad, but at the same time, it kind of is pretty important still, so no.

How do you know? I bet if you quizzed most the people who designed those JRPG or Japanese games, I'm 100% sure none of them would go "well, we wanted to subvert the expectations of sexuality and objectification, and all the associated issues with the diminished/empowerment of women by a misogynistic patriarchy." Do you know the Touhou guy? No, I'll be he was like "Yeah I was drawing one day."
Maybe Bioware does though, and that's why I'm saying the results are pretty, you know, dissatisfying, at times.
The fact that people have discussions like this here just demonstrates how absurdly disconnected from reality people are on this subject, all this stuff is just a bizarre invented projection/reaction/absurdity.
This isn't the only place I've seen that happen, it's more a muted kind of response, but it's still there. Heck! And maybe it's a good thing some people find some kind of social justice meaning that inspires them to do something out of something that didn't have any such point to it at all.
But it's folly to try and re-create that for game purposes from that perspective.

lol. Still missing the point.
More importantly, my avatar is a gif which you can see properly with this tiny script (and an appropriate script extension for your browser)

Clothes don't matter, anyone who wants to draw some kind of deep meaning for sex relations or something from them is not a social justice warrior I will ever get behind, frankly on the grounds that they're wrong.
Oh right Marisa from Touhou, I see.

I personally just cannot see why someone would get so bent out of shape. Clearly BW isn't heading in the direction of Korean MMOs. The examples Hanako provided are actually reasonable. Even then, I'd trust they wouldn't make every female npc's a barbarian style warrior with next to nothing for clothing. Is it really a concern that your going to have to be exposed to that? Because at this point I'm just thinking some of you guys are honestly just afraid that someones going to be happy with the option.

No I'm not afraid with BW's games, when I'm talking about steel bikinis and so on I'm speaking about game industry in general.
In other hand I wonder why for some people it's such big deal that BW doesn't do steel bikinis and boob plates (at least in recent games). There is tons of games where you can see female armor like it, it's norm in the industry after all. So why should BW change their art style to provide these too?

I mean really, a bikini strikes fear into your heart? How?
Do you just die when you read Lovecraft or something?
That's the thing that this thread strikes me at times, like this primal fear of the beach and all those who go there, is the beach like a Cthulhu monster or something to you guys?
Regardless of how good of an idea it is ultimately, it shouldn't invoke such strong fear. I myself was freaking out about some things in DA:I, for example whether they were going to have a proper "Elf" companion (who was kind of a bad***) and instead of course they gave us angsty emo raver Sera, but not what she was wearing of all things.

Okay, I'm staying away from the debate, but I'm stealing that gif for later.
just now i thought the thread was "Bring back Backdoor Plate Armor" .... and I literally was like "Kinky"

For the second person in a row that has made me laugh pretty hard when I needed it, an honorary like:
Can we get skimpy male armor pretty please? Aka, loincloth?
The dude armour really needs to work on showing off the abs. Though I prefer a nice pair of pants to loincloths.
How does a male desire demon sound?
