Hell yeah he does.

I figures aveline to actually be a good model for female warriors. I don't recall her at all being sexualized yet she gave off that intimidating aura even with her strong yet pretty face. She was tall, and to my knowledge the most respected human female warrior in the DA universe. I don't think she had male designed armor. I think she has something similar to merideths which isn't even bad.

  Aveline.

Her armor was pretty much unisex, customized with orange leather inserts and scarf.  That same armor was also available for Hawke, sans scarf and with brown (IIRC) leather inserts.

Meredith's armor was unique.  Not boobcup (which I hate), but sort of understated boobplate.  If Meredith has large breasts, she bound them - which is what I expect a female warrior to do.  A very tasteful, well-crafted design, imho.

On a similar (but inverse) note, I'd like to play a lither, wiry, athletic male that doesn't look like a beefcake or (now with the Dalish male PC), someone who has escaped from a life sentence in a forced labour camp in Northern Siberia.

Lengthy and wirey in itself is scary. Agility and endurance for days. It's a good trade off. Usually it's more seen with scouts but I can easily see a berserker, a shield and sword wielder, or a reaver or templar to fit that category. Bravo.

I didn't say tall. ;) But most of all that's the build I want for a Qunari male, rather than someone who looks like the diet includes "Steroids, More Steroids, and Steroids I can inject into my shoulders".

But yes, it would be nice to see some actual variance in builds for men, as well.

Ah.. I recalled her differently, aveline. Still prefer merideths armor to unisex. And yes I can too imagine that they'd bind under the plate if they were big.

Merideth is one of my more favored characters. Can't agree with her extreme ways but I can understand why she went off the rocker with the red lyrium in her weapon. She had a very unique and in my opinion gorgeous design despite being of age.

I honestly love Meredith's armor design.  I even downloaded a mod that gave me the same set of armor.  She may have been nuttier than a fruitcake, but I loved her sense of style.  That was my favorite armor set for DA2, because I thought it mixed elegance with function and presence amazingly well.  I missed that look in DA:I and I'll admit I was a little bit jealous of Cass' armor styles because of it.

With the tinting table, that could allow for some very beautiful looking armor that's both functional and feminine.  I'd also have the personal bonus of getting my favorite plate armor style back from DA2.  To me, that would be a win/win.   :P

Note: When I said I was against boob plate, I mean ones that show cleavage like the Dalish plate or the awful boob cup armor from DA:O.  Seriously, they are breasts not apples.

By the way, when it comes to that Dalish armor, the writers might have wanted to chat with the art design and animation teams before writing IB's banter with Cass.  You won't catch me defending that slip.

I tried to sneak in something don't blame me for trying. Hah. Call me silly but I agree with variations in builds. I also want to build a slightly larger character that clearly drinks a ton of ale and doesn't care for proper cardiovascular activities. Yet he's big in muscle with all the bloat.

Options are nice aren't they? As long as they aren't.. Forced.

To be perfectly honest, I'm really bad at telling when armour that's subtle enough is meant to be feminine. I totally thought Meredith was wearing unisex armour until I got to the DA2 forums, and honestly, I thought Cassandra was wearing unisex armour until right about now.

While I think sliders are too much of an issue, I think allowing for multiple body types is doable and worth the resource investment, because then it allows you - the developer - to have richer and more varied NPC models which makes your (now mandatory) open world more alive. It's a win-win-win.

Also meredith's armor has the kind of breast plate armor that I think fits perfectly

On body types of characters, many games like DA seems to recycle couple body types most likely to save resources. I think, because of this, they tend to go most safest options of body types for characters so pretty much was is seen as average on sexes and races. Occasionally we can get different body model on NPC like "tall elf" aka Fenris or "elf with female human's body" aka Sera to change things a bit. It would be nice to see more body types and be able to chose body type for your PC as well, but I wonder if Bioware is willing to commit resources to that. With DAI they pretty much said: it's either races or body types, can't have both in game.. but I can't find source for this for now so chose to take my word on it or not.

I guess you could say I'm anti-Boobplate, but I'm pro-Breastplate!   :wizard:

I also separate them like that too. I like breastplate armor but find boobplate armor to look incredibly stupid

I guess now it's their "posts" that speak for themselves. Rather mum about your previous (idiotic) assertion that what they chose to like revealed their craven hypocrisy.

It can't be both? I was just pointing out how interesting it was, that was all. You're only salty because you were one of the people who liked the first post and not the second, sorry if anybody's precious feelings were hurt. I also didn't call anybody craven, but do go on putting words into peoples mouths, really makes you look like the bigger person here.

I think the sheer quantity of cinematic cutscenes in Bioware games might make that cost-prohibitive, especially if they are going to continue to support multiple race options.

I'd love to see it happen, though.

I'm seriously anti-boob cup.

But I like understated (like Meredith's) boob plate.

I think breastplate is a generic, unisex term.

I think there's a difference between cinematics (Bioware has recently fallen in love with a lot of complex,hand-crafted and dedicated movements in cutscenes) and just using a cutscene camera like DA:O.

I honestly think cinematics in this more specific sense - think Varric twirling that arrow in his DA2 introduction - really aren't worth the investment, but Bioware disagrees.

Not in my opinion. But I don't think Natashina wanted her double post to be used as ammunition for an argument like this, so for the sake of being needlessly amicable I will leave it at agree to disagree.

Don't know why you assumed it was personal when I've criticized plenty of posts that have nothing to do with me. I think that makes us even for the little exaggeration I made that got you so nettled.

I didn't, not at all.  I've gotten a chance to talk to several folks from this thread in PM and they have been all polite, respectful and fun people to chat with.  These are posters from both sides of this current debate.  Some of them I consider friends, including Snake, Ares and Artifice.  I don't like seeing people that I consider friends and/or fun acquaintances ripping each other apart of armor styles in a video game.  <sigh>

I'm of the belief that most people in the world are inherently good.  I'm not naive, as I am very well aware that there is plenty of horrible, ugly, nasty, cruel people in this world.  I've lived in big cities/suburbs for over 20 years of my life and I do pay attention to the world at large.  Yet, I believe that most people individually are inherently good.  I see evidence of this time and time again.  One of the places it can go wrong is on the internet.

Here on the net, all we have is our words, and a picture for our face.  We use smilies and gifs to replace facial expression as best as we can.  We don't have access to little crucial details, like body language.  All we have is our opinions and words here.  Sometimes, we cling to them so tightly that we starting losing the ability to be compassionate, to be civil, to learn and grow and develop new perspectives.  I've been guilty of it, several times, but I'm trying hard to make sure that I don't lose those things.  I don't think most people want to lose those things, and for the most part I don't think anyone sets out to be cruel or rude on the net, but it's hard when it's only your words, your beliefs and your avatar.  That includes me.

We live in such an amazing time.  We have computers or consoles that allow us to experience these amazing worlds.  We are from all over the globe, united by a love of the genre of video games we play.  We have storytelling and art taking directions that have never really been possible until the late 20th century.

I don't want to sound preachy and I know how corny I sound.  I don't expect anyone else to take this as some sort of example of how I expect anyone else to be.  I'm fully aware of human nature, and how much we can suck.   We're human and of course we're going to get passionate about what we believe.  We'll get heated, bicker, fight and sometimes, do extremely cruel and horrendous things to each other.

I can't do anything about that.  Human nature won't change, but anger/passion aren't the only aspects of the human existence.  When it comes to things like video games, I wish we could spend more time celebrating what we love instead of tearing each other apart over differences of opinion.

That video is Bioware giving themselves a pat on the back for being so progressive while a man that has bigger breasts than all of the girls combined and shirtless as they come is obnoxious about it.

"Good on us huh?" Please.

How is it different from (to use a TW3 example) Roche making the same point to Ves?

Edit: To clarify, it seems pretty consistent now to take shots at this 80s fantasy art stereotype.

It's not about being "progressive", it's about them finally making practical armor. Don't take that tone with me, this isn't some feminist or SJW issue. If it was, I would actually be on your side. But... It isn't.

Practicality in a ****** video game where paint makes your skin as hard as iron. Imagine that.

Not at all different honestly, I despise that shtick.
