I'm actually excited for this.

It's because the ISOs are bio-digital jazz, man.

I'm curious to see how the seamless transition from device and sandbox of the applications will work. Not to mention

Segoe is amazing.

What is that and is Cortana just like Siri?

I find cortana much better than Siri.

Segoe is a type of font for Windows. Makes the apps look very good and standardized.

Oh cool new fonts ...

I'm excited for this version of Windows.. I'll keep my old one on a backup in case stuff hits the fan though.

July? I dunno. I'm using the W10 tech preview now for just about everything. It ain't bad, but I would not release this OS now, or even three months from now. I think the Ars Technica writer's got this right.

Depends on the difference of the builds though. Maybe you released a stable version of something currently in development which could be really outdated.

Windows 10 will be out 6 to 12 months before Windows 10 service pack 1, which is likely 6 to 12 months before it works correctly 75% of the time.

Why would you delay it?

This will be fun. It will be like a huge free beta :D Only mostly stable

Oh look, Microsoft's new browser to kill off Internet Explorer is finally shedding its "Spartan" project name and is going with...

...Edge.

Let the mockery commence.

Three big things.

First, a lot of functionality is either not there, or there in a very confusing way, particularly stuff that you'd find on the Control Panel in pre-W8 versions. Part of this is that they've got a fairly controversial (bad?) paradigm for handling such controls -- power users get something like the W7 interface, invoked by keyboard commands, and everyone else is supposed to use Metro-style controls via the mouse. Of course, they could just go ahead and deliver something that sucks, but since they keep revising it I haven't given up hope for this part.

Second, there are a lot of glitches and bugs -- wireless adapters not registering, bad drivers autoinstalling, various apps failing, stuff like that. Recent builds have actually been a lot worse than what we were using in November. I'm not sure what's going on under the hood there.

Third, they still haven't settled on a look for stuff like the Start Menu. Part of the problem is that Metro is really not very good. It's hard to get a good read on how this is going over, though, since the W10 boards are subject to the same sort of overblown hysteria that, for instance, we used to see here on the ME3 boards.

Yep. Actually, they could push build 9926 out the door right now and get that result. Honestly, the only thing I can't do fine on the W10 side is run ToEE. (Well, there are games that had trouble installing under W7, but I'm not gonna blame that on W10, of course)

Anyone who's curious should just check it out. I'd recommend at least 40 gigs for an OS partition if you're dual-booting. (I installed that with no problems on a Vista rig.)

Oh, man. I better head over to the boards and watch this blow up.

Haven't used "Spartan" myself -- I'm sticking with Chrome anyway.
