Am I the only one who finds the Inquisitor's personality satisfying?

I think the Inquisitor has a fine personality.

My only problem is that there are no choices that would back a ruthless Inquisitor. All through out the game we're told that power can corrupt and the Inquisitor could let power get to his head but there is not a single choice where I felt like I was powerful and in control. There was no way to play a take-no-**** type of Inquisitor.

Everyone just seems happy to kiss ass and join up.

Watch this trailer: (goto 1:15)

When I first saw this, I took it as a hint in regards to the varying degree of choices/outcomes that the Inquisitor can make. Of course the bad/evil/negative choices cannot be too extreme because there wouldn't be room for a DA4 and Bioware would have to "fast forward" DA4 to take place in a location or time that is not affected by the events in DAI much like what Bioware has done with ME4 to separate it from ME3's endings. However, I still assumed that with all the religious themes and power being a hot topic in DAI, I assumed that we would have more options to be somewhat of a corrupt Inquisitor or at least someone who is willing sacrifice certain people, places, and factions for the better good of Thedas. You know, the whole "kill 1,000 people to save 1,000,000" argument, something that you were able to do in games like Mass Effect and even DAO to an extent. Hell, even the leaked 2013 PAX demo in Crestwood showed that the IQ would be able to make tough decisions such as staying to save the village or rush back to save the Keep. Now as we all know, Bioware ended up cutting that from the game and I can only imagine what other similar missions they cut from the game that would have given us the chance to mold your leadership style for the IQ. As a result of this, I always felt like like he was just too neutral. I believe that playing as a diplomatic or uber nice IQ works perfectly and in those cases, his or her personality would really fit the game. However try to venture outside of that into an IQ that is more on the "red" end of the scale, you would find yourself dissapointed becuase there were really no dialog options for you to position your IQ in such manner, unless you head cannon which presents one of the major problems of the IQ right there.

As for the rest, you remind me of the same people who made DA2 forum so toxic. You're free to dislike DAI as you choose, but don't assume your attitude stands for everyone, Jazz.

1) Reference to me any scenes in DAI of the IQ speaking that matches the intensity of that of the videos I showed you above. Somehow you failed to do that.

2) My attitude does not stand for everyone, but it DOES stand for a LARGE chunk of people's opinions. Just cause they are negative does not make them invalid, remember that. This is a two way highway, not a one way street. I respect that people enjoy DAI and I understand how people can like the IQ, but don't sit there and "throw away" my opinion because it isn't favorable. When it comes to my points against DAI/IQ I do it without personally attacking others. I attack the opinion, not the poster. So referring to me as someone who made the DA2 forums toxic just because I have opinions that differ from yours is out of bounds.

3)This forum is a "protective bubble" full of people who think Dragon Age: Inquisition is the best thing since......Dragon Age: Inquisition. However like I keep saying, all other videogame online communities does not hold the same favorable view of the Inquisitor or Dragon Age: Inquisition for that matter. Yeah, okay, the game sold like 3.5 milllion or whatever the number is. But answer this, have you never purchased something in which later you regretted your purchase because it was not what you expected, did not like it, or just felt fooled? So out of that 3.5 million, how many actually found it a satisfying experience where their positive views of the game out-weight the negative? Of course we will never know exactly, but my point is that just because a product sells well does not equate to people actually enjoying the product post-purchase. My opinions represent that of a person who bought the PS4 Inquisitor's Edition day 1 from GameStop, but was not satisfied with my playing experience.

Holding DAI's "biggest Bioware launch" and its numerous GOTY awards mantra as a measuring stick for the quality of DAI is a very elementary tactic. Pre-orders and purchases is what Electronic Arts cares for, but what makes Bioware my favorite developer (CDPR closing in however) is that they do not allow sales figures to be the end all be all for them. Instead they put a greater emphasis on user feedback to draft the early concepts of their previous games. Sometimes Bioware goes too far with using player feedback and sometimes they do not go far enough, but at least they do consider it to a certain degree along with other factors such as their own internal opinions and visions for how they want to move forward. Like I said, goto any other videogame forum/community and bring up Dragon Age: Inquisition and the Inquisitor, ask for feedback/opinions and you'll see that a good number is very similar to that of what I bring up. Everything from boring open worlds full of fetch quest, lack of cinematic dialog, uninspiring villain, poor support for PC controls, feels too much like an offline mmo, boring protagonist etc.

So no, I do not speak for everyone nor do I claim that everyone views favor to my opinions. But please, get real, do not for one instant believe that there aren't people who have unfavorable views of the IQ and how his/her personality was handled because when you leave this protective bubbled called BSN, you will see more people sharing the same views as I, not EVERYONE, but a good number. And guess what? I am sure Bioware is aware of this as well and perhaps with future DAI DLC or Dragon Age 4, they will be able to take in the feedback to make a better experience. I wouldn't be surprised of their next DLC is more story heavy and less exploration focused. I believe the next story DLC would be more like the main quest missions such as Wicked Eyes/Here Lies the Abyss in that there is no exploration but pure story and 100% cinematic dialog. I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware IS working to allow the player to play with the IQ's personality and responses instead of the many monotone responses and options. Bioware took feedback and gave us the ME: Citadel DLC after all. So I am sure that there are at least  2 more major story driven DLCs for DAI in which possibly the last one would take into account player feedback.

So I will use your exact words.....You're free to like DAI as you choose, but don't assume your attitude stands for everyone.

Protective bubble....

Yes; there are no other complaints seen or heard on BSN. It is a bright sunny environment suited only for back-slapping and laughter. Here, there was no mention of the flaws of any title; the ideas of development were content to progress unchallenged. Nothing bad was ever said of DA2 or ME3; no threats made against developers, no one quit, and everybody ate cake and played their games in the armored shell of arm-linked human kindness.

It was only blind luck that led to the removal of repeated caverns, washed out graphics, and sky ninjas from DAI; negative feedback had NOTHING to do with this at all.

Of course this is sarcasm, as I am certain a few have said something a tad un-positive over the years; may run a test on the sea shells later to be certain....

Nothing wrong with un-positive. Very different than nonconstructive.

And thank you for reminding me why I DO come back here and read these forums again.

Still waiting for you to provide any videos or reference to parts in DAI in which the Inquisitor actually showed great emotion instead of being a neutral/monotone drone.

In the meantime, Commander Shepard will just dance until you deliver. Now she is a bad dancer, we all know this, so please hurry up to make it stop.

Inquistor finally fed up with Morrigan's hijinks in Temple of Mythal and telling her it's enough already; IQ categorically forbidding Cole from asking mages to bind him; quite a few romantic scenes have nice emotions, with the strongest one being obviously the Solas romance (I especially like that one interaction that makes my elf IQ look like Bambi the moment it found out that his mom was shot); a terrified/defiant standoff with Corypheus; Inquisitor running to the rescue of Iron Bull who just got attacked by two Ben Hassarath spies; Inquisitor sad at finding out what happened with Divine or angrily accusing Wardens for death of either Hawke or chosen warden; visibly angry IQ in future Redcliffe, visibly scared IQ in Envy's 'head prison', Inquisitor upset and pessimistic after the loss of Haven...

Should I go on?

Dealing Cullen's lyrium addiction, snarky IQ confronting the Divine's spirit in the Fade, the IQ's takedown of the Grand Duchess and then *tells* the Empress 'we're talking. Now.' Though slightly nicer. Romance sequence with Cullen, post Arbor Wilds, Dorian's post Adamant conversation. Judging Blackwall, 'you're making wine'...

Eh It was okay, but I feel like quizzy is so generic. There were times I felt there just wasn't enough of a difference between the options. I think the personality building moments were too few. I was hoping to have more options something closer to the warden. I think part of the reason for the failure was we have very little history or much room to talk about our history. Hawke felt far more developed even with limited dialogue options because she was a real person with real history. Same for the warden. I honestly feel they did a poor job on character building. DA 1 and 2 did it better.
