Ever hear the expression "You punch like a girl" or "you hit like a pansy"?

That's because the attack is not done in a "manly" form and is weak.

So if a woman is trained to hit efficiently then her movement of attack should be considered "manly"

But that is only a warrior type or double knife rogue as they have direct attacks.

I hope you understand lol

Wow.

I don't need to have a point. You're being sexist and it's pathetic.

How am I being sexist?

Can you not see the (") when I say manly?

Do you not comprehend I am making reference to what people generally call "manly movements"?

Again notice the (")

The fact still remains that a woman fighter is TRAINED to be a fighter so it is not a NATURAL movement for a woman.

For example

Cassandra could have a neutral movement with a man but Josie or a female mage wouldn't move that way would they?

And those expressions I used are not sexist as they are just expression mainly used on men to belittle the man and not to be used with sexist intent.

I think you need to relax a bit lol

A male fighter is also TRAINED to be a fighter so with your example it would not be a NATURAL movement for a man either.

Men have to be trained to fight as well, assuming you want them to fight well.

ME1 had neutral animations if I recall correctly, and that was great in my opinion. Apparently though, people didn't like that so they exaggerated everything after. Too bad. Also, I couldn't agree more with your sigh.

I don't remember ME1's animations so well, but YT indicates the female walk was pretty neutral. It's a shame we had to jump from neutral to the LadyHawke.

I am talking to one person so do relax and stop blowing things out of proportion lol.

I have made no sexist comment.

I have only referenced expressions and not made a comment off of my own back as if it is something that I stand by.

Do comprehend that ;)  lol

Yes and what man is taught to be lady like?

So there are women raised to be more feminine or lady like yes?

Never will you find a man raised like this yes?

Am I being sexist to men now? lol

You wanna jump on the "sexist" bandwagon without fully comprehending what I am saying and what era DA is set in lol.

But carry on :D

So If a say a some men are naturally masculine and some women are naturally feminine am I sexist?

The fact that you don't understand that what you said is sexist scares me. I admit it would have been better if I said "the people who think you're being sexist, in this case a couple of women and some people I don't know the gender of need to relax?" But that just seemed so... well you read it.

Eh, I never really put much stock in the "do this like a ____" expressions, partly because reality often butted against the preconceived notions that they stemmed from, but primarily because they made the people using such expressions look like a pr*ck.

But you understand my context yes?

That I am asking if the person has ever heard the expression?

I am not saying the expression as something I myself believe in, you get that right? lol.

@BansheeOwnage

So the expression "Are you a man or a mouse?" is offensive to mice?

"She looks manish" is offensive to men? sexist?

"That girls got balls" offensive to men? sexist?

Just wanting to know lol

Yeah I get it, I just like to think of reality as being too messy for this sort of thing.

Anyway, DA2 did kind of make this a bit of a gag with Aveline through Isabela's commentary. "Lady man-hands" True story if Avi was an LI option Hawke would have gotten to see how that really goes.

None of what you've said argues that combat is manly. Combat is about killing people inefficiently. A man trained to fight is a male fighter, a woman trained to fight is a female fighter.

Alright, let me go through them one by one.

1. That depends how you interpret it. The way I interpret it has nothing to do with sex; it's a comparison between something that has more physical strength to something with less. There will not be one single mouse with more strength than a human, and vice versa. The gap is so huge (unlike between humans) that it's more of a taunt in the form of a rhetorical question. It's also impossible for it to be offensive to mice.

2. Women don't look "manish", period. A woman is a woman, and therefore will always look like a woman. This is basic logic. It's like when people say Jennifer Hale sounds masculine. Uh, no, she's a woman. She sounds feminine. It's such a stupid thing to say. But it can and is usually said in a demeaning way.

3. That's just a stupid expression. What is the stereotypical weak point of a man? And for some reason that also implies toughness? There's a huge disconnect there and people should stop using those kinds of phrases.

Yes and the setting of DA has it more "natural" for a man to be a fighter as opposed to a woman as that is the type of medieval fantasy setting it has.

It's just how it is seen you can cry sexist all you like but it's just everyone's stereotypical view shaped by society.

Just like if I said "Single Parent" the first thing everyone pictures is a woman unless you were raised or know personally a single father raising his family.

It's the society we live in, sorry you feel that way.

Boy's are generally seen to "play fight" from young so build a NATURAL fighting instinct.

How many girls you know used to play fight when growing up?

Again not sexist just society ;)

Anyone else remember the "Could We See More of the Lady Inquisitor" or the "Please don't make our Inquisitor walk like a girly-girl" threads from last year?  I'm getting the oddest case of deja vu...

You're taking our cultural history and applying it to Thedas. It's not more natural for a man to be a fighter in Thedas. I'm really wondering if we're talking about the same series now, because what I got out of it is leagues different. And no, when you say "single parent", I think single parent, thanks. You didn't specify a gender, so why would I assume one?

Is a woman naturally as strong as a man? ;)

Does a woman's body naturally have as much muscle mass as a man?

Just think about that. And remember what you said about the expression "That depends how you interpret it" :D

And just for experimental sake...

Can you think of a sexist expression against a man? just out of curiosity because I find it hard to think of one personally lol.

Yeah, but it also evolved into this 600+ page conversation that was talking about women's representation in video games, comics and other "geek" media as well.  It was a damned good thread, it just petered out after release.  Oftentimes, the conversation about the use of language and focusing too heavily on "what's girly/manly" came up.  This went from "you fight like a girl," to (imho) ridiculous products like special pink and purple legos for girls and why putting too much gender into toys, comics and games was detrimental in several ways.

I was happy the walk animation didn't have those pendulum hips like they did in DA2.  I've also posted my own thoughts about it, several times.  I'll say I agree your points and kinda leave it at that.   ;)   Anyway, a lot of the same arguments and counterpoints were in those debates as here.  The walk animation came up, but that ended up the focus of it's own thread.

I actually disagree with this, cause feminine and masculine are adjectives that include some other attributes so I don't see them as gender restricted, not all women are feminine or men masculine. Well, my take on those words at least. Mannish in other hand is just insult used when someone doesn't like that woman can be masculine (similar as "gay" used as insult about feminine men although it shouldn't be used that way).

Really?

Remind me again whats the ratio of male fighters to female fighters?

How many female companions have there been compared to male companions?

Obviously the ratio must be even just like the number of companions lol :D
