Well, if I remember correctly he is trying to find virgins to give to you if that option is selected so he may mean that as there are no virgins to give to you.

Probably. Still, there is no way to have a implied virgin/insecure/timid in the sexual/romantic departmant character in both DA2 and DAI. I give the fault to the "timed" conversations. The "act now, or you are out" approach. In DAO I could make enought friendship with the companions, and than leave one single studied light flirt, and the companion would came and the romance could start. I have always done so in DAO with Alistair, and it was always very cute for my insecure and inexperienced City Elf.

In DA2/I I have this impellent urge to always use the flirt option if awailable, since I know there would be no way to flirt again whenever I want later. This "avarice" of conversations is quite annyng to me. I'm more than ok about having the conversations repeat if it means not having to just having a "hi" when I click on the characters who have no more conversations.

That's something that annoyed me a little, I must admit. In Origins you could have a very, very strange/hard to understand awkard conversation with Alistair and basically say you are a virgin (and I always found strange there was no way to have the option to have the warden say something about it when he want to pass the night with her)  But in DAI basically Ishmael take away even the chance for a little headcanon. (no virgin, if Cole isn't there). I'd like to roleplay a character who is not experienced, but the game doesn't let me.

To help with your headcanon; is it possible to headcanon it as Ishamel leaving your Inquisitor out of his statement or does he say something that would contradict that idea?

Wait what?! I was under the impression your history was vague in every game except DA:O, where you could talk to Alistair about it. Can someone explain exactly what's going on, because I'm starting to get pretty annoyed right now.

For what it's worth, I took it the same way with Imshael - that he was looking for virgins to give to you. He had no reason to reference whether or not your character was one, because he couldn't very well give you to yourself. If you believe your character inexperienced and virginal at that point, I don't think he changes that particular headcanon by his comments.

I seriously thought I'd have to reload after asking for virgins, but I just couldn't resist clicking that option the first time and hearing my character asking for virgins with all seriousness to her tone. She meant it totally tongue-in-cheek, and I just wish companions could have had a comment about it. :D

I had to read about Imshael's rewards on the forums.  Unfortunately for him, there is only one way even my evil characters deal with demons.  Good thing I read TME to get to know him.  None of my PCs tolerate demons very well.  The conversation went like this.

Ismhael: Pleased to meet you.  Hope you guess my name.

Me: Die demon!

Ismhael: Choice spirit.

The next couple of minutes went something like this on my dwarf.  My warrior reacted the same, but she was human:

I can imagine the three of them (suddenly and inexplicably) drinking a glass of water and spitting it all out when IQ asked for virgins :D

This probably should get back on the topic of romances, everyone.

Please and thank you. I really don't want this thread to devolve into complaining about perceived sexism. :?

(Haven't read the rest of the thread yet, but sexual dimorphism is a thing, and while males are not born with gym bodies, they are still naturally stronger than females by default. This is where traditional roles came from, for cryin' out loud.)

Edit: Finished reading the rest of the thread. Glad we've moved on. Thanks, everyone, for your cooperation. Now I won't have to shove you all into a Get-Along Shirt.

I'm not opposed to that happening as an idea, but the reasons why would be paramount. For instance, the main reason people would wait in real life is religion, but I've heard nothing hinting at the same idea in Thedas. So, if they wanted to wait simply because they thought it would be more special, or to  make sure you're in a relationship for the right reasons, etc, I wouldn't be opposed to that.

Yeah, it can just be for personal reasons. Like how Leandra and Malcolm Hawke got married for no other reason than they loved each other.

Yeah, it can just be for personal reasons. Like how Marian and Malcolm Hawke got married for no other reason than they loved each other.

Perfect example.  I think you mean Leandra though.  Marian was the default name for lady Hawke.   :P

In any case, I see what you mean.  In fact, it was the worst possible thing to do in a political and social manner for Leandra in particular.  She'll even remark on a Hawke romancing Anders how much the two of them remind her of herself and Malcolm.   Good catch.

As for the virgin thing, I don't think his words included the Inquisitor for reasons already stated by others. As for the companions, yeah all of them other than Cole have had some experience.

Cassandra: Has been with Regalyn

Cole: Is a virgin

Dorian: Has been with others and potentially The Iron Bull

Rainier: "Knows a lot about girls"

Sera: Has been with others

Solas: Has been with others

The Iron Bull: ...yeah

Varric: Been with at least Bianca

Vivienne: Mistress of Duke Gislain

As for the advisers, they aren't around so Ismael's words don't apply. In fact both Cullen and especially Josephine have things that imply they are virgins. Not surprising since Bioware always has a virgin as an LI option in their games.

Haha, sorry hun.   :P

You know, that's part of the many reasons why I loved the Legacy DLC.  It was a lot of fun and a great boss fight, but it went far to not only flesh out Hawke's family history, but Varric's as well.  It was droven home for me, seeing that Malcolm was willing to put so much on the line for the sake of love and freedom, that marriage for love no matter how risky, still happens.

Thanks for the clarifications, people. I was getting ready to call out egregious crimes against roleplay. Glad I don't have to!

That was my impression as well. Cullen and Josephine are ambiguous in that regard, but I have an especially hard time imagining Cullen being in a previous relationship with all he's been through.

@Natashina it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize you were posting, since you switched your avatar. I was like "Hey, a new person." ^_^

The only way to make everyone happy is to make every character Bi, but my only gripe is the four characters I'm interested in are all unavailable!... Varric, Scout Harding, Dagna and Leliana. And this is a game not real life so why do they (the Devs) feel the need to make this warts and all.

Haha, sorry about that.  I was changing to a picture of my first Inquisitor, Garnet Cadash.  Sadly, this was the happiest picture I could find.  I'm really tempted after I get the DLC  to replay her from the beginning.  I've gotten better at the game, and I think I could do her more justice.  I'm currently seeing if my video card's new driver comes out by the end of the month.  In any case, come about June 1st, I'll be checking out the DLC, the Black Emporium and all of that jazz.  I'm looking forward to more stability in my game, that's for sure.   :D

Best post of the day :D

If the Devs want to up the romance quest, they can make LIs locked or unlocked depending on the players' choices in my opinion. For example, if you want to romance a lawful good character and you run around in game causing chaos or act like an evil overlord, that LI can become disgusted at your actions and avoid entering a relationship with you.

They can do that regardless of making all the LIs bi or not

That example may be terrible. I mean they can make LIs playersexual, but increase the romance quest difficulty to make it challenging for players to enter the romance with their favorite LIs. The romance quest in this game is way too easy.

That's fine, I just thought it was funny how long I took to notice. Good idea on the name; it's like Shale. Yeah, finding shots of happy Inquisitors that don't look silly is hard. I only managed to get a couple, like the one in my avatar. Not that you can tell :P I feel like I might replay my character next too. Not being able to create a new character that looks different being one reason (I ran out of hairs)!

I had her name, eye and hair color, voice (the American one,) class and overall alignment picked out about 4 months before release.  I love Shale so very much and when I found out that the dwarven IQ was a member of the House Cadash, I didn't want to resist.

Are you on PC or console?  I'm sorry if I haven't been paying attention.  If you're on PC, the modders have got a few hair styles out for female humans and elves, if you'd like me to try to toss you some links.

Right, there's that part too, even better. I had the eye colour planned for mine after I heard about inner irises (green and red/brown inner). Other than that, I tend to play the same sort of personality and have a similar appearance in all my canon playthroughs of most games, so I guess I kind of had that planned without really planning it. I'm terrible at naming characters though, and had to pick that one in the CC. I ended up using my middle name, Meredith. That did spark some rather amusing conversations with Cullen though! ^_^

Thanks anyway, but I'm on Xbox One. Sideburns abound forever here  I don't think I've mentioned my platform, so no worries.

Edit: I wish I could take screenshots of my Warden and Hawke.

My eye color actually ended up changing during the CC (I liked the blue with the goldish white inner ring,) but other than that, I had it planned out for months.  I had no idea who I was going to romance, because none of the male LIs seemed striking enough to me.  I was keeping an open mind.  It was after playing the game that I started to really like Iron Bull.  Cullen however was unexpected and it worked very nicely with my human mage.   Even set a mage-friendly world state for the extra touch.  Mage Warden with pro-Mage Hawke.

  Meredith huh?  Nice.  That must have been funny.
