I don't understand how LIs can be ambiguous because when you can romance a male LI with both male and female PCs then that character can't be straight or gay.
Something I'm still bothered by (romance-related)

And it wasn't all Bi, you'd still probably be "forced" to romance Merrill, or Isabela if Merrill was a lesbian romance
If I was into playing as a woman when given the choice to play as my own sex then I probably would have felt forced to romance Fenril
As I would play as a straight woman lol ![]()
The fact remains, I see no positives with the set sexuality system over the ambiguous sexuality system.
Yes if you just look at it as having a fair amount of options then every character being bi makes it fair across the board.
But then as character building or defining what does that do?
If it fact of being a bi character is kept more low key like Merrill then it would work out better I guess but when it is in your face like how all the romance choices are with the blatant heart option and awkward dialogue then I would have to say no it's a terrible thing to do as it can ruin characters.

I think heart icon is a good way to indicate that certain option is a flirt option. That way you can't accidentaly flirt unles you choose that option by accident.

I think the only time the heart should appear is for the final romance decision which makes your pairing official and all other flirting should be purely by choice of dialogue and not by blatant heart option

People aren't just their sexuality. There are nearly as many stories you can tell with this system as you can with the set sexuality system. The only ones you can't is where the sexuality takes the forefront of the story, and Bioware said they don't want to do that anyway.

I don't think it's blatant. It just exists to tell the tone of that option like other icons. Would it be less blatant if the heart would be grey? Is there a possibility to not show those icons in DAI?

BioWare are liars lol.
Isn't Dorian's mission purely based on his sexuality?
And I think you are not understanding where I am coming from.
In DA2 the characters sexualities are put on display and from the very first meeting Anders and Isabella are very clear lol.
Your first heart option given makes things clear too.
So I would say not to be so "in your face" with the sexuality and if its ambiguity that you want then you would agree really lol.
So why do you disagree with the heart option not being there until the final choice to make the pairing official?

well it is really as its an obvious romance choice for dialogue with a heart symbol.
Having no heart symbol would be fine like how the ME series is.
No hearts needed there right?

No, it isn't
His sexuality only plays a part in it

Isabela sure but that was always a part of her character because she loves sex, everyone else wasn't. Anders doesn't even mention Karl if you're a woman

But I am a man and the first thing Anders did when I met him was try to hit on me and then get upset when I said it made me feel uncomfortable lmao.
And the only prostitute available in a brothel that has women also is one bi male elf.
Really? Does that seem encouraging for a straight male player? ![]()
His sexuality plays a part thank you, if it had nothing to do with his sexuality then I wouldn't be able to say anything lol.

I like ME series but I usually don't talk with Jacob because my female Shepard flirts all the time and I don't like that. I have a same problem with James. But that's a different problem I guess. Anyway it's annoying when you are trying to be friendly and then suddenly your PC starts to flirt and you are like what is happening? That's why I like that heart icon.

I'm also a man and I wasn't bothered by it, my problem with it was the stupid -15 approval for turning him down ![]()
Why should I care about prostitutes in a brothel? ![]()

Why fear talking to Jacob? Not your type? lol
Why not avoid Mordin instead? lol
I have never found ME dialogue choices hard to work out lol.

YES EXACTLY MY POINT! If you say say "it makes me feel uncomfortable" (that is the games dialogue choice Natashina lol) I get a -15 approval so it's like it forcing me to comply with his whims otherwise I can't get a good approval from him.
That is the feeling of "being forced"
You don't need to if you don't want to lol.
But if having everyone bi is to make romance options fair then where is my straight choice in the brothel?
Just mentioning the fairness being absent ![]()

They explained why. With Jacob and James, Bioware assumes your character would be flirty with them so they have the dialogue match that. You can't choose whether to be flirty or not, it just happens.
Bioware made a lot of assumptions about Shepard, despite selling them as "our character".

Man, I hope OP made a thread when ME3 came out to complain that women only had 3 exclusive romance with Garrus, Samanth and Thane (And Thane can hardly be counted so you can say 2 if you want) compared to male exclusive which were Tali, Jack, Miranda, Ashley and Steve.
5 vs. 3 (or 5 vs 2, if you think Thane romance is next to nothing). I'd say Bioware is just evening it out for how ME3 handled romances.

And some, like Fenris and Merrill, weren't. I want how Fenris and especially Merrill were done to be the norm.
I disagree because the heart icon, like all the other icons, lets me know what intent the dialogue will have if I choose it.

Being fair isn't a concern to Bioware, their main concern is giving people atleast 2 options

Well then it seems you all prefer clear cut romance options with bi characters that way anyone can romance them so the options are even.
So long it isn't in your face that they are bi then I guess its bearable ![]()

Female Shepard flirts when she talks to Jacob and there is nothing you can do about it except not talk to him. Mordin is different. He assumes that you are interested in him even though you haven't flirt with him. Anyway I think that scene is very funny.
