Are you on PC or console?  If you're on PC, I can help you.

Unfortunately I'm on console, good gaming computers are just far too out of my price range. Thank you for the offer of help though :)

Eh, anyone that goes out of their way to insult you for being a console player is too insecure in their adulthood and sense of identity to be considered worthwhile.  ;)

Yeah, I know. It's just that it can get a bit unhealthy if you put yourself into it because it's captivating and interesting, then also because you need to escape.

But isn't like that with anything? Shopping, browsing Internet, playing games (in general, not just for stories), eating, sports - anything can become unhealthy if people don't have moderation or treat their hobbies or favorite past-times as means to either escape the world entirely or ease their existential pains.

Well to both of you I would say you can become wrapped up or absorbed by anything that you do and not just as an escape.

Take for instance if you have a dream of doing something or want a career in doing something.

Weight lifting, MMA, track and field and other sport like hobbies, when you are trying to achieve something with these past times you will essentially end up "eat, sleep and think" only your desired field of interest but this is never seen as "unhealthy" it is seen as "having drive or motivation."

When you do something purely as an escape then usually at first it can be seen as unhealthy but you always have the potential to make it work for you.

For example...

Constantly playing video games.

Then start posting reviews for them on youtube and make money from it ;)

Have pent up feelings about life

Give them words and post videos of your spoken word poetry on youtube like this guy:

Or this guy:

You can always "say your piece" and not have to just "escape" your pain or hide from it.

Even if you just write the words down for yourself and don't post videos is fine because you are still not letting your pain take control of you or back you into a corner and you are choosing a healthy release for your grievance.

But we should get back on topic now lol.

Well, if it's any consolation, the Dorian/Iron Bull pairing is super easy to avoid. Oddly, I have some playthroughs where Josephine never gets a bouquet of flowers on her desk, even though Blackwall is still there. I'm not sure how to get this stuff to vary.

Indeed! For instance, I no longer recruit Iron Bull.  :D Even if I did as a male Inquisitor, it wouldn't make a difference there as all my male Inquisitors romance Dorian anyway. As for ways to avoid it with both recruited and neither romanced, I haven't a clue. I just abhor the pairing enough to never allow it to happen in my games, either way.

I've never even seen the Blackwall/Josie stuff in my games, just read about it and was like, "Wait, what? Why?" My lady Inquisitor romances Josie, so I still wouldn't see it with her.

To recruit both of them and avoid the romance, you just don't bring them out together. It's trigger by banter.

Hate hate hate that I still have the banter bug and can never get these companion/NPC romances to trigger for me. I really hope next time the extra romances aren't needing banter triggers alone to make the romance happen.

You think that banter bug is bad?

I have one where even while in a romance with Josephine, the romance banter about Rainier and her still triggers.

Yes, it is like anything else. I hope I won't always want to escape.

I've never gotten either of those pairs, and I didn't even know about the bouquet of flowers. I haven't gotten the Bull/Dorian one just because I don't get enough banter, but I have no idea why I haven't gotten the other one. Also, tongue-in-cheek here: I find both Blackwall and Josie fairly boring so I think they're perfect for each other

I'm not saying it's always unhealthy to be passionate about something, not at all. Most of the time it's great! But sometimes it's unhealthy.

Ouch! I hate it when dialogue does things like that.

Hey, I said it was tongue-in-cheek :P They're just not my favourite characters. Buuuuut they can be someone else's favourite characters, and that's fine ;)

Owch. Yeah going to say that sounds far more awkward than the fun little bug I get in my other game where my character still gets confessions of love after locking in romances and has to brutally crush the suitors hopes and dreams of happiness. Still wish I didn't have that dang bug though without the banter the world just feels so empty and lonely but I'm not going to start rambling about it here.
