Wouldn't have happened if the elves hadn't have caused trouble in the 1st place, then again the elves have caused themselves trouble for centuries so isn't a surprise

Lets see. The Chevila(sp) go into the Alienages and kill any elves past curfew. The unrest was caused when a beloved member of their commuinity  was just down in the street for taking the blame for something that wasn't even a crime. And when their cries for justice were ignored the got pissed.

They have been treated like they are less then dog **** for centuries. Yes it is so wrong of them to want to be treated like people.

Actually both Z BJ are defending her action and calling them the right thing to do. So like I said as long as the ones being butchered are mages and elves it fine. Even a good thing.

Whether or not they are justified, Celene's actions have legal backing. Countries have the right to put down internal revolts. And her actions are consistent with the typical conduct of wars in both the real life medieval period and in Thedas.

Well, Warder's Warder, so it's pretty unsurprising that he says that Celene was in the right.

As for JB, I don't remember him saying it was right of Celene to do what she did.

With how much Warder supports Gaspard, him giving credit to Celene for something is actually pretty unusual. :P

Literally no one said that, though.

If anything they've said if you sign up for a fight, odds are you might get hit.

Well Meredith was the single more incompetent Knight-Commander in the history of the Circles.

Just going to take a moment here - to be fair, not really? I mean, well yes, she was. But I wouldn't necessarily blame Meredith for that. Kirkwall is a hellhole. xD It's noted that mages residing there have always had a FAR higher chance of resorting to blood magic or becoming abominations, and I wouldn't at ll doubt that's due to the nature of the city itself, the reasons it was built the way it was in the days of old Teventir, and the shape the Veil is in there. Not to mention the nearby Darkspawn Magister calling out all the time.

Bad place, Kirkwall. No I don't care what you have to say about that, Varric, I love you but you're biased. It was a catastrophe waiting to happen.

EDIT: Ninja'd. D:

And those are legitimate grievances. However, I don't know what you expect to happen when you raise up arms against an empire, and then refuse to surrender when they bring down the hammer.

No, I support the elves' rights to be treated as people. But if they thought revolting was going to be easy and without costs, then they are incredibly stupid.

Well, according to Lisselle in Denerim in DA:O, Chevaliers are basically allowed to do whatever they want to the common people, not to mention the elves.

As for the whole thing regarding Celene, Briala, and the purge....  Well, this is basically how I feel about it:

Things would go smoother if you would stop making wild accusations with people because they say things you don't agree with

Well it is just a little annoying that it is okay for Celene to kill hundreds of innocent people and start a war that tears her country apart. But people is wrong for people to fight back.

I hope in the next game we lead a revolution in Orlais and we get to cut Celene, Briala, and Gaspards heads off with a guillotine.

Back up your fanfiction for once.

As long as it give him a chance to bash on elves, I'm pretty sure he won't care  :P

You calling insurgents, innocent doesn't make them that.

In fact if you actually bother rereading TME Gaspard actually chides the Lord about how he wasted his time trying to achieve anything but military victory.

About how squashing the insurrection earlier would have led to a easier time of things.

You don't appease a rebellion.

You crush it.

It's the only expected outcome.

I disagree. Wars are ended through discussion and compromise, not oppression and violence. Same with rebellions.

I don't support the decision, I just don't see it as wrong from a national standpoint.

I'm indifferent on the royal ordering it, I think her cousin is far better.

We're going North next game, and Bioware isn't gonna do that anyway soooo

tbf, the whole thing with Celene is complicated, to say the least.  Hence why I prefer to stay away from discussions/arguments about the whole thing.  They tend to get........ messy.

You achieve both those by achieving military victory.

You dictate terms after you win the field, not before.

Um, I'm going to agree with what someone said earlier. So long as Anders does not return, Bioware cannot mess with my Hawke's happy ending with him. Given what they do to returning characters...
