I think it's already well under way to be honest 
Particularly as PC bounced from one to 5 stars without picking up 2-4 on the way...

Well PS3 has about 2.5 million to get its 3rd star. Still not sure we can do it but there is a glimmer of hope.....but its still a very faint one.

It's a brilliant move actually.
Make the Goal pretty unreachable, thus creating a sense that we "have to try harder" to reach goal. As we try harder to reach, the player earns more gold. More gold means more chests. More chests means more loot. More loots means more salvage. More salvage means more leather/cloth/metal. More leather/cloth/metal means more opportunities to get the new characters, equipment, etc. when Dragonslayer launches.
This was part of it. It was meant to be tougher than previous weeks, but attainable with some stretching by the community. I did goof on the math. vDiscovered the cause on Saturday night. We'll address this on Monday on Twitter and Tuesday on the Twitch stream.
