Believe what you wish, as you already clearly do. Good day.
Is this game still worth playing?

The game is good, but the lack of additional activity (e.g MP server lists that I don't need to mess about with 3rd parties for) mean I don't play NWN anymore. But is is good fun.

It's a website, which is of course a 3rd party. But you don't need any plug-ins to view it. Just make sure you switch the tab to display nwn1 servers, because it defaults to nwn2.

I can't believe I actually agree with Icy for once, but yes I do agree. You don't know what you are talking about. There are many alternatives to the loss of the Master Server. And some of them are websites, and some of them are external programs, and some of the are plugins that restore the original gamespy funcationality (more than less).... long story short though, there is no drought in resourcess for players to access this information. http://forum.bioware...er-server-list/

WTF? Why can't you believe you're agreeing with me for once? I can only recall a few times where I disagreed with you in the first place, so if you got some secret beef with me, air it.

Geez, we've only just finished the argument between MayCaesar and MagicalMaster.
Do we have to go through this all the time?
Clearly we do. This community is as toxic as every other game community out there. No wonder they wanna shut us down.

Wait wut?
Who's shutting who down?
As far as I know - Bioware does not have the capability to shut anyone down - the game is essentially p2p
So let them try
If you are talking about forums - yes, it would be sad to lose these forums, but tbh - any forum would do.
Just need consensus on a replacement and get people to join it.

It's not like I condone piracy, but I sure am glad that BioWare at this point cannot do this game any harm, seeing how it doesn't give a damn about this community.
I mean, none of the game's features is dependent on BioWare anymore, not even the latter three premium modules, so the game will be fully playable even when BioWare is gone. Heck, even if GOG is gone and the game becomes unavailable for purchase, a CD-key generator will do just fine now that the master server doesn't check keys.

I'm reluctant to wade into this, but cannot let this one slide. No, it is not. I have been a member of quite a number of online communities for quite a few years and yes, all will have a certain level of toxicity (this one included), HOWEVER - in this community the general level of friendliness and sheer creativity outweighs by far any residual toxicity.
Good sign of health - totally new people coming here with questions and looking of help are likely to get it. I have hopes of doing certain things that will result in a greater inflow of new blood into the mass of nwn world-builders and players. It's already happening anyway, but it's nice to make things easier for people. ![]()

I would agree with this
There are people in the community who have been constructive members, helping others, contributing to the community.
But...
then there are those few who thrive off conflict - some of whom are quite notorious for it in fact.
I don't think this game will ever die due to 'toxicity' of the community.
If anything it will be the game just being dated that makes it less appealing to players - but that being said - The game is still awesome even from a technical standpoint.
Teachers have been known to use Neverwinter Nights to get their students into coding.
My own C# skills (and my career) has benefited from NWScript being a stepping stone into more complex coding languages.
So even if as a game it becomes obsolete in favor of new games - it will always have a purpose, if even just as an educational aid.
I've yet to find a game, besides perhaps GarrysMod - which is as flexible and educational to coding enthusiasts.

Seriously though, is it really that bad that I wanna know why this guy finds agreeing with me so damn abhorrent that he'd say so in a public forum?

I take it you're saying I'm toxic? Besides Tchos and MayCaesar, who else have I given the impression of actually disliking?Clearly we do. This community is as toxic as every other game community out there. No wonder they wanna shut us down.
And before you object...
"Seriously though, is it really that bad that I wanna know why this gal finds me so damn abhorrent that she'd say so in a public forum?"
I mean, I regularly contribute in constructive threads.
I also want to strongly agree with this:
And along the lines of new people looking for help, there's a reason people have posted stuff like this:I'm reluctant to wade into this, but cannot let this one slide. No, it is not. I have been a member of quite a number of online communities for quite a few years and yes, all will have a certain level of toxicity (this one included), HOWEVER - in this community the general level of friendliness and sheer creativity outweighs by far any residual toxicity.

One problem you will run into in the OC is that some spells and the Prestige Classes were added in SoU and HoT expansions
MagicalMaster can most likely give you some sound advice on character builds
This is the largest problem -- by far -- that we face. Period. Even if we had a more toxic community than League of Legends or DotA2 or something we'd still have NWN be far more appealing to new players if it was a newer game.If anything it will be the game just being dated that makes it less appealing to players

I think these forums would be much better off with active moderation, so people had to stay on topic, instead of going sideways every time someone disagrees with something someone else wrote.

That could be a good idea, but I doubt the moderators of this website even know we still exist. ![]()

Well, I kind of get that impression towards myself.
Just sayin' because you asked.

...but then you're going to ignore me asking you the same? Can you see how that comes across as rather hypocritical?
