The names of the final 10 of the top 100 NFL players for 2015 have been released.

No.1 J. J Watt http://www.nfl.com/v...nfl-top100-2015
Defensive End for the Houston Texans.
First time the no.1 spot has gone to a defensive player.

No.2 Aaron Rogers http://www.nfl.com/v...2-Aaron-Rodgers
Quarterback for Green Bay Packers.
No surprise here, Congratulations Packers.

No.3 Tom Brady http://www.nfl.com/v...-No-3-Tom-Brady
Quarterback for New England Patriots.
A controversial pick.

No.4 DeMarco Murray http://www.nfl.com/v...-DeMarco-Murray
Running back For the Philadelphia Eagles this coming season, formerly a Dallas Cowboy.
And Dallas will be sorry they let him go.

No.5 Peyton Manning http://www.nfl.com/v...-Peyton-Manning
Quarterback for Denver Broncos.
I don't agree with this pick for no.5. Did his playing last season really merit such a high place on the list? We'll see what he does this year...

No.6 Calvin Johnson http://www.nfl.com/v...-Calvin-Johnson
Wide receiver for the Detroit Lions.
Good, but doesn't make up for the Lions having Matthew Stafford as quarterback...

No.7 Andrew Luck http://www.nfl.com/v...o-7-Andrew-Luck
Quarterback for Indianapolis Colts.
A lot of promise here.

No. 8 Antonio Brown http://www.nfl.com/v...8-Antonio-Brown
Wide receiver for Pittsburgh Steelers.
Quality player.

No.9 Marshawn Lynch http://www.nfl.com/v...-Marshawn-Lynch
Running Back for Seattle Seahawks.
Yaaahhh Beast Mode!
I feel like he should have placed higher than no.9, but I'm biased.

No.10 Rob Gronkwoski http://www.nfl.com/v...-Rob-Gronkowski
Tight End for New England Patriots.
I expected him to rate higher than no.10. Quality player.

This NFL Top 100 list was comprised from the votes of NFL players, not fans or journalists. Who would you have put in the top 10 of this list?

Things you should not do when the New York Giants have offered you a long term, 60 million dollar contract and you haven't signed it yet...

But anyone can have a lapse in judgment, so here's wishing defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul a good and speedy recovery.

They had to amputate one of his index fingers which will speed up recovery but could affect his play. Also, somebody at that hospital is going to get fired for leaking his medical record!

I would've put Rodgers #1, Lynch #2, Gronkowski #3, Tyron Smith #4, Brady #5... Peyton not even in the top 10.

Dunno about Watt, he's clearly the best player on that team, but like Luck benefits from playing in a creampuff division.

More on New York Giants defensive end Jason Paul-Pierre. What a nightmare, one finger amputated, broken thumb, skin grafts and pins.
http://www.nfl.com/n...inger-amputated
http://www.nfl.com/n...ed-index-finger

And, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback C.J. Wilson also suffered a hand injury from fireworks over the 4th of July.
http://www.nfl.com/n...eworks-accident

Talk about getting in trouble offseason... What a high price for a few careless moments.

Some sad news in the NFL: Ken Stabler, 1974 NFL MVP and winner, with the Oakland Raiders, of Super Bowl XI, passed away at the age of 69. Stabler was known for his tremendous accuracy and his improvisational skill, having famously claimed to study the playbook "by the light of a jukebox." He was also one of the NFL's great clutch performers. All of his most memorable games seem to have nicknames, like "Ghost to the Post," "The Holy Roller," and "The Sea of Hands."

Ken Stabler (RIP)

I remember watching him on Sundays.  Also known as 'The Snake'. He was left-handed. He will be missed

I was surprised the Cowboys let Murray go. Time will tell if that bites them in the backside

Murray's success was a product of the offensive line. Not to mention he is injury prone and is coming off a season with 400+ carries. I have respect for him and what he accomplished last season but for what he was asking I feel Dallas did the right thing for it's roster in letting him go.

Rest in peace.

I never had the pleasure of watching him play, but have seen documentaries of classic NFL games. Stabler definitely seemed like an entertaining and talented player, from my limited perspective.

Murray's success was a product of the offensive line. Not to mention he is injury prone and is coming off a season with 400+ carries. I have respect for him and what he accomplished last season but for what he was asking I feel Dallas did the right thing for it's roster in letting him go.

I agree.

Murray is a good 'back, so it's nice to see him finally stay healthy for a full year and get recognition, but I think that strong offense kind of inflated his market value. I can see why they felt the money did not work. Ultimately, RB is a fairly plug-and-play position, especially if you have an OL like the Cowboys'.

Hell, I won't be shocked if RUN-DMC revives his career over there. Surprised, because it seems like his legs have started to go, but not shocked. Very similar type of a 'back.

so, Greg Hardy instead of getting tossed out of the league gets his suspension reduced....good job Goodell....

To be fair, an independent third-party arbitrator made that ruling, not Goodell.

re: NFL's Top 100...

That list is typically a doozy every year. I can get that the final list is kinda skewed by a number of factors, and it is a tougher thing to do than it looks, but if Tim Tebow can claim to have been voted in once, then we have a problem.

I can agree with the Top 3, though. I kind of see Rodgers/Watt as 1a and 1b -- Watt is a better player at his position (like, A+ to Rodgers' A), but the QB position is a cut more valuable and tougher to play well.

Murray stands out as an overrated ranking, for reasons I covered above. I am also beginning to feel like Calvin Johnson is living off of past accomplishments. He is not the same player he once was, and a handful of other WRs have moved into his tier. And Manning, I am not sure if he is even Top-25 anymore.

Were I to do a Top-10? ...

1a.) Rodgers

1b.) Watt

3.) Brady

4.) A. Peterson (year off and all)

5.) Justin Houston

6.) Rob Gronkowski

7.) Darrelle Revis

8.) Antonio Brown

9.) Richard Sherman

10.) Jamaal Charles

HM: Julio Jones is making a strong push up the list.

Packers induct QB Brett Favre to the Packers HOF and retire #4.

There is a lot of heated discussion about it at the football forum I post at. Favre critics say that retiring the number is the highest honor that the franchise can give a player, and that Favre should be recognized only for his career accomplishments with Packers HOF induction -- not with retiring his number -- because of how he tried to go after the team before his trade to NY.

I feel that criticism; Favre definitely did some damage to the team with the way he came out of retirement and tried to strong-arm his demands. That said, Favre did a lot to our franchise's benefit that cannot be denied, and his jersey is simply iconic in its significance for it not to be retired. I am happy for him and all who still appreciate his time as a player for our team. At the same time, I also hope this story serves as a cautionary tale against giving any player influence above his station.

Antiono Brown at #8 eh?  Impressive.

I have zero argument with Watt being #1.  What an amazing player.

Can't wait for camps to start, there is such a black hole between the draft and actual football.

Well it looks like  Russel Wilson is getting ever closer to going to free agency he either need a big season to get the seahawks to give what he wants because i doubt that he bring his asking price unless he has a horrible season okay I might of misread the title I thought it said he turned the deal down outright

I think Packers' castoff Jarrett Boykin could stick for you guys at WR. Basically brings the same thing to the table as Cotchery, but younger.
