Missed a portion of the stream & I was wondering if someone here can clear something up for me.

This Dragon's call; how does it work? We craft the item & then what? Are we sent into a lobby to wait for 3 others to arrive? Are they kinda like Raid Bosses in Borderlands?

Thanks in advance

When you craft it it acts like a consumable and just sits in your inventory. When you are in the Castle level there is and interaction point which only one part member needs to use which will consume it and call the dragon down to fight.

I'm not sure why, but I feel. . .indifferent. I can't explain this feeling.

I mean- not to be a Debbie- or I guess . . .Derek? A Derek Downer or anything but I feel just feel as those it's somehow lacking. We'll see when it comes out and all, but maybe it's just because my heart is so darn set on Mabari?

Bro, let's be serious here. You'll never get to be a mabari, or a golem, or anything that doesn't use a weapon. They would have to design a whole new weapon type for progression to mean anything, and it's just not happening. At best, there might be a character that has a mabari pet (which I think would be awesome BTW).

Man, I totally would play as a dog!
Just imagine the glorious picture of four mabari match or mabari reviving another player. Or if Dominance gets implemented. The possibilities.... :D

Volus still carried guns. And unless Bioware pulls a repede https://40.media.tum...yuin7o1_500.png I don't see a mabari packing a weapon.

This is a fantasy game. Anything is possible.

They could be pure melee class, fighting with their paws. There was collar and warpaint in Origins that served as equipment to enhance/modify their stats.

They could, conceivably. That setup WOULD work, as far as playing it. It is simply too much effort. They would need to create an entirely new playable skeleton rig, new animations, an entirely new weapon and accessory setup... that is only used on one character. It's just not feasible.

Magic! . . . of professional game developers. They could... whether they will is another matter. I can readily see weapons represented as golems (or wielded by) and expressed in different ways as creatures though.

Using the Shale example, shale's color depended on what crystals she had on, and the player controlled kit could take on different lighting and particle effects for different (or lack of) weapon runes involved. The animation time auto-attack times being different for different weapon classes as well too.

I can totally see strapping a pair of daggers to a Mabari hound as well. Swipe left, swipe right, bite for the finish (dual attack) animation on last hit.

Unless of course he has an 'accident' involving a nerf bat to the knee :bandit:

Well, this should be interesting. If the AW gets hit with the nerf bat, will he simply be slightly less awesome, or beaten into uselessness as a melee-range magic user? I say this because it wouldn't be the first time balance changes have (massively) overcompensated for something in particular being more potent than intended.

AW will still be good even with the nerfs that are all but arriving for the class. If his adjustments are anything like I think they are, than he will function more like a support mage that gets everyone in the group contributing with pota rather than an indestructible selfless tank with high dps.

*SNIP*

I don't see a mabari packing a weapon.

Well, it is fantasy. . . ;)

sif-the-great-grey-wolf-large.jpg

But let's get serious Hercule:

We have the mabari model, skeleton, and attack animations in the game (charge, biting ETC) already, and it's not as though they have to equip actual weapons. Think: Collars and Kadis of Dragon Age Origins: Collars were equipped in the weapon slot, whereas Kadis was in the armor slot. It's not different now than it was then. Collars would have different damage ratings and stat effects, and kadis would provide the armor rating and appearance changes. There is no change in weapon appearance, unless they REALLY wanted to make different collars that stuck to the mabari skeleton. Elemental enchantment would not appear on the character unlike the strange auras they had in Origins (that was weird yo), and if they did it would come from the collar should they decide to make visible items for those.

It's happened before in the Dragon Age series. . .plus, we're getting a bard with a musical instrument as a weapon: never say never.

. . .really, the only problem I see is finding a niche for them to fill, given the semi-limited state of the Mabari in origins, sans mods. EDIT: They'd have to add one or two new animations no doubt to go along with new active abilities, not to mention adjust current abilities along with some Mabari-made ones (It'd likely have passives like Wolf Mauls the Bear, Scenting Blood, Grisly Mutilation, Cull the Herd, ETC. Perhaps actives like War Cry, a Mabari War Howl as an AoE Panic, that make use of the Mabari's terrorizing presence to human infantry.). It'd work as an AoE Diversion, an evasive 'warrior' type (it'd use a charge animation to knock voer flimsy walls) that darts around enemy lies distracting and grabbing aggro while debuffing and attacking. It'd be the fastest teammate given its nature, but also relatively easy to kill in comparison to the other warriors.

EDIT TWO: *crackles knuckles because it's thought rambling time* I can see examples of some abilities as follows, but as I am no game designer I can hardly give details:

Terrorizing Howl: An AoE similar to War Horn, if not essentially the same in basic usage (only made for the mabari. . .as hilarious as the image of a mabari making horns sounds is.). Perhaps an upgrade that temporarily increases the Mabari's attack and/or movement speed?

Overwhelm: The classic ability from Origins just has to return! This ability lets the Mabari pin down certain types of enemies (Essentially Standard Humanoids, including Spellbinders and mages!), doing massive damage to them, possibly along with a bonus if they are stunned prior. A possible upgrade could be a form of instant Grisly Mutilation: if the target dies while overwhelmed, nearby enemies are Panicked.  . .OR, killing an enemy with Overwhelm heals you for 'X' percentage of health?

Bull Rush: . . .No difference from the version we already have, just wanted to mention it. ;P

Not all AW's run PotA. If the only effective way to play as an AW is to play support post nerf, then that would be a major ******* problem. The AW is clearly billed as a melee magic user. You don't have to use him as such, but that is what he is. If he can't effectively perform as a melee character, then he will absolutely have been overnerfed.

Also, watching to the stream again, and BW listened about re-specs!!  Nicely done team.  "This pleases me"  :)

Basically there will be re-spec cards for each character.  You will need to craft individual char cards (ie 5ea of such n such mats), then use it to reset points for that specific char.  I really appreciated when they listened and implemented it in ME3MP, and now in DAIMP.

Way to "make it so" BW.

This got me second most excited( new charas and respecs)  :D

RIP Salarian Engineer Kit :(

Edit: He went from being my favorite Non-Human character, which was valuable in any game, regardless of the map, enemy type and difficulty to getting me kicked for using, unless I was in a lobby full of newbies, over-night. So sad... So sad...

RIP Salarian Engineer Kit :(

I never played it (I tend to find a character/class I enjoy playing and stick with it). What happened there?

Edit: Nevermind, I read up on it. Since characters have a significantly larger pool of active and passive abilities in DA:I, I don't think that we'll have a repeat of what happened to the Salarian Engineer (I hope).

To get back on topic though, I see the AW more like to Kro-guard: Definitely OP, but fun when you absolutely, positively must frag every Nug-licker in the room... Accept no substitutes.

They did eventually "nerf" the Battlemaster a little, but not so much that he was not still a monster. Cuz ain't nobody gonna try to hit a Krogan with the nerf-bat, less you want to get wrecked. Perhaps AW will be in the same boat?

or maybe a temporary Mabari summon (Mabari Whistle), joins you for 30 seconds to fight then chases after a Nug.. :)
