You may have noticed, but Origins is VASTLY different from Inquisition. Everything is constructed differently. There is no unarmed, Warriors can't dual wield. There are exactly zero non-humanoid companions. You can't just plug in something from another game, they would have to build it from scratch. I'm not saying they CAN'T do it, I'm saying they won't, because the time and effort isn't worth the reward.

I never thought they could "copy-paste" Shale's framework into DA:I, I just said they put in the effort then, and can do it again if they want to. Also, it's worth the reward to me.

Since you're not BW, or EA, or own controlling interest stock in the company (which would effectively make you EA anyway), there is no backing to your statement. They could, if they wanted to. In all likelihood, there's other forces at play (mostly likely involving money & direction of company at a strategic high level, and developer time on an operations level, coffee & donuts on the lowest daily level), on what BW is going to develop.

Should be interesting, regardless.

I also wouldn't put the idea of assuming control of monsters / creatures completely unreachable and impossible. They did it before in Origins (as Shale), and also had an interesting retelling from the Darkspawn side too. I wouldn't mind taking control of some despair demons or shadows and making it more challenging for volunteers. Eliminate the boss mission! . . . boss is player controlled. Bwahahahaha. I would want to see that particular reversal as a seperate map though. Let me be the dungeon overlord while pugs crawl (die) to my minions.

You don't need to be part of the company to know they're not going to change a fundamental structure of the game to appease a tiny subgroup of a tiny playerbase. This has nothing to do with insider knowledge, and everything to do with logic and economic feasibility. What you're asking for is the equivalent of changing CoD's melee system into Battlefield's. It would be a massive undertaking, and very likely would break the game in terms of bugs. And even that is more likely, since CoD has a vastly larger player base.

Since it seem unlikey a playable dog will ever be a thing, a Ranger type character with a summon-able dog could be interesting. One skill tree could be spent buffing the rangers bow skills, the other tree buffs the mabari.

Once summoned they have to let the Mabari do something though.

everything to do with logic and economic feasibility. What you're asking for is the equivalent of changing CoD's melee system into Battlefield's

It would be a massive undertaking, and very likely would break the game in terms of bugs

There's multiple things wrong with your statement.

1) Adding creatures / ideas / DLC is not changing 'fundamental structure'.

2) You have no data on how in-demand various ideas are

3) You have no data on how big the playerbase is

4) You don't know how much work it'll take, nor what EA/BW is willing to take. I will comment so far every DAI DLC has been bigger in scope than the previous, and in my opinon more 'interesting'. If we take previous ME games for an example, they do get quite interesting for DLC overall. Past performance is not indicative of future actions of course, but it is an 'interesting' ride so far for me. The nitty gritty financial details of game development also require insider knowledge I suspect very few people actually have.

A 'massive undertaking' may be acceptable with the publisher/owner's financial and game developer's approval.

And even that is more likely, since CoD has a vastly larger player base.

5) There's lots of motivations to do things far beyond the scope of your analysis. In particular for your example, actually less likely due to different ownership of IP's and lawsuits.

EA / BW will work on things so long as they're in business. If previous media blackout policy remains, they'll do so at their discretion, and with forces unbeknownst to outsiders and known only those insiders with NDA's & legal contracts. How big in scope, how 'creative', how much work it'll take, etc, will be at their discretion.

They've been hiding Dragons in MP from us for... months, probably since before new year's. I would call that a lot of work involved, and something signifigantly different than before. What's next in the pipeline, and down the future they cannot tell us (for a lot of reasons). I would not presume to know the detail of every force involved into their development. I wouldn't bet against anything right now on mere idle speculation. We just got Dragons. Golems, Demons, Barkspawn. . . Andraste's ******, who knows what's next? Only insiders, and possibly those with a vested interest (money on a large scale, usually) looking into the nitty gritty. Not casual playerbase with no actual information.

I remember you guys saying you wanted to utilize crafting materials for different needs. How about having them used to make EXP cards of different values for each class? It could work similarly to XP cards in Mass Effect 3 MP, except this time you craft them with mats. Depending on the class you want the boost to go to, you'll either use all Metal, Leather, or Cloth materials. The higher the EXP bonus, the more materials you need to use. I think this would also be a good moment to make purchasing crafting materials an option. Maybe 250 for 3 mats of each type?

Also, would you be willing to give us more of an incentive NOT to use Healing Fonts? Maybe not using a healing font gives you a small multiplier to your end game gold/exp.

SolarSpaghetti Greatly Approves

Answered yesterday, as I understood it. You choose your Dragon on match setup, so can plan which resistance potions to bring.

So now this begs the question, do we think there will be better armor sets available for existing characters after the DLC drops, or should I build all three elemental resist armors for my Keeper from the armor pool that is available now? Thoughts?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe during the stream somebody asked if there would be new armors for existing characters, and the answer was positive.

They could, conceivably. That setup WOULD work, as far as playing it. It is simply too much effort. They would need to create an entirely new playable skeleton rig, new animations, an entirely new weapon and accessory setup... that is only used on one character. It's just not feasible.

Not nessassarily, the Mabari already has a model, animation set, and riggable skeleton present in the game, BioWare would just have to make the conversion from NPC to PC. It would take effort to do, but it wouldn't be something created entirely from scratch.

Relying on an AI controled dog as a summonable minion would be horrible. Aside from robbing players the chance to finally play as a Mabari, you also have to consider the atrocious pathfinding issues the NPCs have.

Look at how worthless the Necromancer's spirit mark pets are, do we really want more of that?

I just want to point out, Origins did allow one to play as a Mabari.

I don't think the idea will be implemented, but you do bring up valid points, I just wanted to mention that it's been available in the series before.

I can't even remember Isabella from whatever Dragon Age she was fun... Just shows how much of a great character she was.

May as well point out its skill tree was not properly implemented even in console version of Origins.

Anyway, off topic.

Actually shows more how little you cared for her; as there are plenty of fans who count her among their top companions, based on numerous conversations I've had with people both on the net and IRL.  ;)

Anyway, excited to see her return... though I feel it might be odd playing as her in multiplayer IMHO.

And Zither!!!  I'm so happy they released him.  :D

Agree. Not to mention the risk of having more than one present at the same time. Kind of ruins the picture of her, makes me wish they'd gone for the "Isabella-ish" option instead.

Actually, I think the answer was that we'd have to check back on Tuesday for that one. I'm holding on to my materials for now, at least.

I asked Luke specifically for that, since Tex and I were asking in the stream.

They cannot comment on it at this time, so it is fair to think that it will not happen tuesday with this patch/DLC. (Remember, it's both).

However, Luke has also noted that he will be looking at armour ratings across the classes, so hopefully Warriors will be getting a leg up.

Any word on any expansion to the 255 cap on inventory? It'd also be nice if you had some sort of indication of how many slots you have left.

I also recall there being mention of making it so that character armor wouldn't take up space, but haven't heard anything else about it for some time.

As it is, it'll be a bit hellish on Tues. opening chests. I can only open 2-3 chest before I have to clear out some space.

Pumped otherwise!

No word on more inventory space (not for a lack of trying from chat participants), but you will be able to salvage from the chest window, so that should help a lot.

It should be easy to verify armour status.

I filled all 152 armour slots and still had room for 200 items.

If anyone who does not have all the armours crafted can confirm how many items they have when inventory is full

then we can eliminate them.

Nah, all the characters I remember made it into the Single Player Campaign and the one you seem to be in love with made it into the glitchy multiplayer... So obviously I made the right choice on who to have in my party...

Primary characters, not secondary after thoughts ;)

don't wanna bet the lead foot here but why is Isabella returning as a agent? I know people loved her and all but didn't she head back into the oceans as a admiral of her own boat? Fenris seems like a more logic bound choice(even though the Avvar takes the warrior role) as he openly hunts those from Tevinter namely slavers and magisters ie a lot of our venatori enemies.

Since you're not BW, or EA, or own controlling interest stock in the company (which would effectively make you EA anyway), there is no backing to your statement.

Errr, there's actually a great deal of backing to his statement.  It's called basic common sense combined with some critical thinking.  His point isn't that it's entirely out of the realm of possibility we'll get a Mabari class some time.  His point was that implementing that class would take many times more work than easier, more probable content, both at the design and programming levels.  Based on this pretty undeniable truth (it's hard to argue you wouldn't have to do extra work for a Mabari class), he's extrapolating that Bioware is extremely unlikely to make one in the forseeable future.  Which, again, just makes sense given the rate of content we've been getting.

That's why what he's saying does in fact have some basis.  You don't have to run NASA in order to argue a manned flight to Jupiter's moons isn't coming any time soon.

Fenris can die in DA2, so that's tricky.  IIRC, Isabella is one of the only characters guaranteed to live through DA2.

According to David Gaider's recent tweets, there might be a good reason that we couldn't see him as an agent right now :)

I can't wait to get my hands on ZITHER! I should really play more non-mages, but I just can't resist the Virtuoso.

Wouldn't really say that's a good argument. Leliana can die in Origins, yet here she is in Inquisition lol

I for one am excited for Zither and Skywatcher, is it? Just for the fact we can play as an Avvar, which is something somewhat new. :)

many times more work than easier, more probable content

But not out of realm of possibility and probability.

That's why what he's saying does in fact have some basis.  You don't have to run NASA in order to argue a manned flight to Jupiter's moons isn't coming any time soon.

Your examples are unequal scale because the scale of work involved is much different. Programming a feature: Doable within a fixed time-frame. Jupiter mission requires several months in travel time alone. One is possible and even likely, the other is impossible with the current budget & technology.

There is very little backing to your statements.
