The theme for this month's challenge: "World of The Elder Scrolls":

World of The Elder Scrolls: A high fantasy roleplaying world. Content based on things like Imperial, Dwemer, Bonemold, and Daedric armors. Perhaps Daedric or Dragonbone style weapons. Various artifacts like Mahrunes Razor. Marrowing/Oblivion/Skyrim style creatures. Landscapes filled with giant mushrooms to beautiful Night skies filled with auroras and nebulas. Nirn-style subraces such as Nords, Bretons, Dwemer, White Elves and insdious Daedra
This theme was suggested by Snugglehoof.

Guidelines:
  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine.  Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome. Don't be afraid, just try, you'll be surprised!
  • "Custom Content" includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by June 1st, 2015. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too. ;-)
  •

Somethings you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:
  • 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot from in game for use on the vault page (this also gives me hints on how to display the new goodie). Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goodie. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goodie.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Also if you would like an invite to the CC Makers group, send Rolo Kipp a friend invite. The group is nothing spectacular, mostly just documentation on 2da lines.
  •
Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!

This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month's theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screenshots of work in progress and/or finished projects.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here

When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge.

    We'll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

    And finally, you can:

    Submit theme suggestions.
    Vote for June's theme.
    Email content to: NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com

The Daedra could make a nice addition, particularly the Storm Atronach. Spriggans are interesting as well. :)

I'm going to be doing the Aureal and Mazken - or Golden Saints and Dark Seducers, if you prefer -  the voluptuous Guardians of the Shivering Isles, Realm of the Demented MadGod Sheogorath.

    AMtes4.jpg

Since I'm currently making some gigantic fungi for my new Atlantis Modules anyway, I'll also do a Shivering Isles type Mushroom Tree - one with the multiple "trunks" and nasty spiky bits.

May also do some other stuff, depending upon how much time I have this month.

Could I suggest a relatively easy placeable, the bane of my life when playing oblivion - the Nirnroot plant. The only tricky thing about it is, I think, making it glow faintly in the dark.

    And don't forget red Nirnroot!

But yeah, there's tons of stuff in Elder Scrolls. And that's before you get to, y'know, the deeper lore, where things like CHIM lie

Making something glow faintly in the dark is easy. Self illumination using a very dim/dark color...not noticeable in the light, shows up best in darkness.

I find it particularly appropriate that the eternally-free modding community of NWN is doing this, considering the recent kerfuffle over paid Skyrim mods.  :)

Well, they did revert their decision really soon after! So hoorah on that, at least. Besides, new content for NWN wasn't -always- free. Might I remind you of premium modules?  :P Of which, several did not ever get released, not for money, not for free, because of little scandals. Sure, you can argue they weren't exactly modding, but they were close enough. It was not much different than the Skyrim scandal, except that not every person and their dog could do it, and there was a mighty wizardly foot pressing down on whoever did.

Dungeons and dragons use to be entirely free to get if you had a subscription to Dragon Magazine; the "wizardly foot" thing didn't surprise me in the least. and YAY my spellchecker is working on the forums again AHHH what a relief. that little red has mark under the words does hep me make things a little more understandable.

I'm sorry that last part was entirely off topic.

Me and a friend were messing with a "smooth frame" override that didn't edit the core and we discovered that cartoon graphics were the east to adapt to NWN core and real life ones that used while body realistic physics didn't adapt well on male meshes. this explains the incapability of NWN2 items in regards to NWN1 Complex triangles in the Framework can only be made to go so far without rewriting the entire game. so maker please remember to keep things simple you can still do wonderful things with simple frames just look at Prefect world screenshots as well as forsaken world screenshots.

someone did appear to beat us to the punch but I have ZERO love for their cheesecake bikini girl inspired display i would prefer the original undies edited to feature a knot instead of a metallic medallion IF edited at all.

but as for the mods In a since you would be taking the advanced and simplifying it. tho the underwater races fro elder scrolls are something I would love to see as a player character as well as the swim and diving features. this may be a multiple month thing.

    How about a sweetroll.

A corpse with an arrow through the knee.

Perhaps a mammoth even, just like those that linger with the Giants in Skyrim.

Or a crazy-fun weather system like Climates of Tamriel - changes skyboxes based on weather type. Thunder/rain can be heard indoors and turn on/off based on the weather outside. Area Diffuse/Ambient colours are changed to be darker if raining, but restored back to builder settings when clear skies. Something similar was done for NWN2, but nothing like it exists for NWN1.

    *shrugs*

    FP!

Corpses in coffins / niches / thrones that animate e.g. placeable & creature versions of the same model, like PHoD's Kali. Destroy placeable / create creature script can look fairly seamless when standing - maybe animated placeable or custom creature appear animation for other poses?

Oil spills you can ignite to toast pursuing bosses.

igniting oil can be done via scripting emotes now, thou better oil effects would be appreciated. how about furnishing and things for player homes and whatnot. I still want to see player options added in.

Maybe it's just me, but when someone is volunteering to begin a huge project, making demands on them seems a shade on the rude side.  If you don't like someones content, don't use it -- or better yet, dive in and make your own changes.

Guess I picked a good month to be packing and moving. I'll mostly be observing this month, as I'm one of those rare people that has never played any Elder Scrolls based games, my only exposure being a screenshots of that cool Skyrim dragonscale armor when I was thinking of making my own for the Dragon Stuff CCC (holy crap, that was two years ago?!).

I didn't think I would have anything to contribute this month but now there is a possibility that I might but I will need some help to do so. What I would like to do is to make a number of elder scrolls flags using Lisa's Standards (or Army Flags). My problem is that the flag portion of the models that Lisa created have an aspect ratio of 1:1 whereas all but one of the textures I have, have an aspect ratio of 16:9. Would someone be willing to edit the placeable model plc_fl31.mdl and the placeable walkmesh file plc_fl31.pwk to that aspect ratio please?. If that were to be done, I could take it from there.

Thanks in advance for any response.

Wouldn't it be easier to fix the texture by cropping and/or extending the background top and bottom?
