Isabela in the MP is Headcanon Breaking (or where the OP is clearly overreacting because he cares too much about Izzy?)

I think they might believe it was clear their relationship was open, so they went in this direction.

Don't think there's any way you could conclude from DA2 that the relationship was necessarily open. Unless they start treating Origins relationships where LI has been separated from PC for years with similar levels of openness and disrespect it stinks imo.

I feel that they did intent for the Isabela romance to be open, but with DA2 being a rushed game.... yeah

The whole degree of openness of her relationship with Hawke is something that should have been left to the player.

Does Isabela herself not have any say in this?

My canon Hawke romanced Isabela.

I'm very happy that she's an MP character, and I have no problem if it's canon that she fights alongside the Inquisition.

She's not actually real, so no.

I agree That DA2 left the situation vague, without confirming one way or another. My point was that their mindset might've been to have the relationship open.
As for Why it wasn't clear (if that was the case) it might be as Ares said, because of the rushed development.

I'm having a really hard time figuring out when any given character's characteristics should be respected and when they shouldn't.

Clearly. If someone wants to mod a character to be more attractive to them, BSN gets in an uproar. Change their sexuality to be available to your PC, more uproar. "These characters are not your sex doll!"

Isabela decides she wants an open relationship and you disagree? Well, she's not real, so sex doll it is.

To be fair those are different groups of people :P

You're probably right. BSN can be kind of a blur to me sometimes. It's hard to keep up.

Really don't understand why people are so angry about the open relationship, its not like Isabela cant sleep with Zevran while in a relationship with Hawke.
The open relationship is canon if they are in a romance, it doesn't matter if your headcanon is with Isabela settling down and only sleeping with Hawke, if thats what you want you are going to be disappointed. And since they are in a open relationship she is not cheating on Hawke, I know it was not clear in DA2, but now you either accept it or change your romance in the keep.

There's a little light flirting going on, it's not as if Isabela's sleeping with anyone in between zones...  :D

(...) I'm not liking what they're doing with the MP. It should had been a new character, someone we never met before to play the duelist role. (...)

i actually like the fact they added some know characters, not only isabella but also the Skywatcher that you meet and may ask to join the inquisition. To me it would make sense that all MP characters appeared one way ore another in the man story (even if it is from other games)

Then surely the zevran situation should have been a relationship breaker as say sera and elven gods can be.
I don't think the tone either is casual in any event.

I thought you can break up with people in DA2?

Plus this, from what I heard in the banter it's just Isabela flirting as always

If it's just flirting that utterly fine. I was going off a second hand description of it as something more.

For everyone who thinks this might be a prelude to bringing her back into SP, remember when the ME team brought back Harbinger's VA for a MP expansion and didn't put him into the main game, despite people wanting him back over Star-Jar?

Because I sure do

Once you were locked in, you can't.

You can break up with her when she confess in act 3.

Which is before the thing with Zevran. Her confession is the locking in of her romance arc.

Its not before, you can play Zevran's quest before the confession.

In which case the relationship is on shaky ground due to the whole "I'm not worthy of you" thing she gets after nearly burning Kirkwall to the ground as a result of her greed. It's like how the relationship with Fenris is on shaky ground due to the him leaving you after sex thing.

However this is irrelevant. The player never gets a say in the nature of the relationship, so this is unfair to the people who romanced Isabela.

Personally I don't see it, I think it's interesting to add an open relationship into the mix of Bioware romances
