I actually think it makes perfect sense. She's one of the few DA2 companions who can't be killed, and as fun as it might be to imagine Hawke and a romanced Isabela sailing into the sunset, that head canon is debunked in the SP game. Hawke has work to do, and so does she. Would it really be preferable to imagine them off on their merry way during the end of the world, when instead they could be helping it..not end?
They've done it for Isabela, for whatever reason that might be. Story wise, I have absolutely no idea why she would join. She only joined up with Hawke to benefit herself. Stayed for Hawke and Co. but regardless, she is selfish when it comes to things like this. I can see no reason why she would become an Inquisition agent. Hopefully, BioWare clear that up but if not, then I see no reason why they can't bring in dead characters.
The others said money, but I would add that Isabela did potentially develop as a character during the first part of DA2, at least enough to recognize that she might have a better chance of survival if the world isn't taken over by a Darkspawn "God." I think even the most selfish might assist out of a sense of self preservation. ![]()
