Why can't we have a character creator system for MP?

Seriously though. Wouldn't it be better if we could just make a character from scratch, giving them a class we want from Warrior, Rogue, Mage and giving them a spec as they level up? It would give MP players are much more personal feeling to that side of the game. The fact it's MP would also allow us to create more characters from scratch. I believe it would be quite easy to place the CC in MP since it would be based on the four races and the game already has skins available for each armor the custom character could wear.

Because the 'personal' side of DAI is in the singelplayer.

You aren't picking distinct characters. Just the agents. Like ME3

It would be nice but I like the presets. There is no real need for a personalised multiplayer character.

I don't like presets in MP. I like it when it's more personal.

Actually, I wouldn't have minded the presets if they weren't all so ugly and looked like the mutant versions of their tarot card.

Actually, that might have been fun to have. I'm not really invested in anything multiplayer, but I admit that despite the lower benefit, it'd make me more interested in creating at least a couple of MP characters at all.

That would require more effort than just pushing the rng character button to give us some sort of choice. Many of the character we will receive will make no sense at all, such as the Sentinel-Paladin that has no biotic powers in ME3. I'm still wondering why we're getting a Bard that isn't a rogue, as far as the game itself goes we've not seen a Bard that wasn't some sort of rogue. Leliana being the prime example in this little thing because she's never shown any signs of in-born magical powers, getting resurrected isn't a power here; its a plot device to keep people from whining further.

Yes, but I could name my characters in ME3, I could choose their color designs and choose extremely specific ways to allot their points. There aren't any evolution points for powers in DA:I as there were in ME3 so they couldn't really do it that way unless you got two mutually exclusive point options. Example: Longshot could pierce through targets or make it also do area of effect damage based on the range.

It would make it a much more enjoyable experience if the options allowed weren't so black and white on which spec will top out better.

Because your playing as actual characters

Because your playing as actual characters

First one, you're*

Second, we didn't ask for actual characters in our MP game, we did ask for multi-player but how it was implemented was sort of annoying. They created characters just for the sake of having characters. Even though they show up in your keep at Skyhold you're not actually in control of them in any regard as to the real game and you never actually learn their names unless you read their dossier within the MP menu. I called my archer for the longest time: The apathetic guy. Not even a name hooked to it because he was just a guy that wanted to whine about having no home, which is his thing; he didn't need a name as far I'm concerned. He's a grunt meant to die or attain victory for the cause.

Doesn't matter if you didn't ask for actual characters, Bioware did it this way to show off actual Inquisition Agents doing missions and having their own party banter

I personally prefer this route

I actually like how the DAMP approach gave those agents set back stories and personalities. That was so muh more interesting than the MEMP approach of them just being generic class/race combinations. I feel like Korbin and Luka and Belinda and the others were great additional characters who supplemented the lore. I'd not be upset if they add that to the inevitable ME 4 MP.

I hope they do tbh

Ugh, if only they would give the MP characters more lines or mute them forever once they say something more than 2-3 times. I got fed up with the Keeper saying those elvish stuff that I muted the sound completely one time.

So you prefer getting attached to characters you're going to see die over and over? They could have still had party banter based on race/class/gender without giving them names. The keeper saying "I can't wait to get back to my clan" could be a line portrayed by any wayward elf in Thedas.

Ahh, not thanks. It will take away from the SP in some form. They already took away stuff in DAI so it would be smoother with MP. They even admitted it, I belive.

You can see it by the streamlined effects of the character abilities and the lack of healing. The lack of healing has the claim of 'making it more tactical' and 'making players have to think more' but the straight answer is that they want people to buy potions in MP and if there was a single character that could actually heal then people wouldn't farm for gold or shell out real money to buy boxes to get potions to keep going.

When its been a staple of the previous two titles, and its removed mysteriously in accordance with a multi-player component that has micro-transactions dealing with the purchase of potions, you don't think that's a bit odd? Even in the slightest?

I was talking about for MP, since you said they did it because of MP

At least Knight-Enchanter, being OP as it is, is the perfect alternative in SP to keep everyone alive. Now imagine if you are a mage yourself, bring Vivienne along, etc. You're pretty much invincible from there.

Indeed I did, but how would they find a way to fill those spots for the healing magic that they've removed? After trimming down the superfluous amounts of spells and powers that we once had their options would be extremely limited. They would either have to return many of the powers that were no longer available in Single Player, give many people repetitious powers (which has already occurred with the different mage types) or make up new powers entirely. The last of those three will occur in time but it will probably be the third or later MP expansion where we see that. I have a feeling even the Bard will not have powers as described in the April Fools Day scheme and he will have powers we either already have or old powers that we lost being returned with new flavor.

Or it could be that in the past two games healing was mainly used because the game had mobs and waves of enemies compared to DAI

Now I'd argue they could have kept healing as an out of combat ability but *shrugs*
