Why can't we have a character creator system for MP?

Each Agent you can play as is a new (or now past/present, with the advent of the upcoming DLC) character in the Dragon Age World. Besides appearing as playable in the multiplayer, they appear physically across Skyhold and are sent out on War Table missions. For example, Kolgrim is sent out on a few missions if you focus on more martial/Cullen approaches to situations. He is described as a calming albeit strong force that is able to dispell an angry mob in a stand-off protecting a book archive, if I remember the example proper. This, in turn, compliments what we know of him from his appearance in the Multiplayer. I, for one, would like to see him in a larger role in the next Dragon Age.

While the prospect of making one's own character to play as in the multiplayer is a tantalizing prospect indeed (and one I support, though not for this game), we'd be missing out on the uniqueness of these characters. You'd either have up to four silent protagonists going through the levels, or they'd have dull and vague dialogue amongst themselves while each player has constructed some sort of intricate back-story and personality that could never be broadcast verbally by the character themselves, even if there was an option of picking a background for the character. You'd still be limited in your choices, and your ability to role-play the character that you made would remain diminished even with a text-to-chat option. The Codex Astartes multiplayer, perhaps even the gameplay itself, does not support custom characters interacting with one another.

But the agents? You see, or hear as it were, the characters banter and can understand why certain characters get along, some don't, how they think or feel. . .even with as limited dialogue as we have at the moment.

Then there's balancing, but I don't know much about all that so all I can say is that the multiplayer would have to be built around four custom characters. At present, it's based around a two tree system rather than what we have in single-player, meaning either a custom character would be very limited in regards to the multiplayer, or the system would have to be changed to accommodate it. Either way, best we wait for the next installment.
